What Nixon taught Barack and President Trump

The shadow of President Richard Milhous Nixon was much longer than his aborted presidency. Nearly a half century after his resignation, he has taught the last 2 presidents very different lessons.

President Donald John Trump learned how to handle the press and the deep state by avoiding the mistakes of President Nixon.

Obama learned that instead of using his campaign people to spy on political opponents, he would just turn the FBI into the KGB and do his evil work. Obama's thugs lied 17 times to a federal judge to spy on President Trump. Obama did so realizing there would be no penalty, and to date not even a lowly agent has been indicted.

On Fox this morning, President Trump openly admitted he learned from President Nixon's mistakes.

Our president said, "I study history, and the firing of everybody — I should’ve in one way, but I’m glad I didn’t, because look at the way it turned out. They’re all a bunch of crooks and they got caught."

Of course he did fire Obama's No. 1 and No. 2 henchmen at the FBI. Their replacements seem no better. Perhaps General Michael Flynn can be appointed, as a reader suggested.

Our president also said of President Nixon, "Of course there was a difference. No. 1, he may have been guilty. And No. 2, he had tapes all over the place. I wasn’t guilty. I did nothing wrong, and there are no tapes. But I wish there were tapes in my case."

Notice, the first lesson was not to be guilty.

But President Trump left out his biggest lesson: full disclosure. They said the cover-up was worse than the crime because the crime was penny ante. At every step of the way, he has given his enemies the documents they sought in these attempted frame-ups.

The Ukraine transcript should have ended the impeachment nonsense. Instead a libelous and lying press ignored the facts and bleated the Democrat narrative anyway.

Obama released nothing and covered everything up because he knew he could get away with it.

But maybe not. I am after all an eternal optimist. And Weasel Zippers reported, "Obama’s Getting Nervous, Stages Strategic Leak Of Phone Call Saying ‘Rule Of Law Is At Risk’ after DOJ dropped Michael Flynn case."

Ah yes, the not-so-secret appeal by Obama to the little Obamanauts. I touched on that in the previous post.

Yahoo reported, "Former President Barack Obama, talking privately to ex-members of his administration, said Friday that the 'rule of law is at risk' in the wake of what he called an unprecedented move by the Justice Department to drop charges against former White House national security adviser Michael Flynn."

Obama told his sycophants, "The news over the last 24 hours I think has been somewhat downplayed — about the Justice Department dropping charges against Michael Flynn.

"And the fact that there is no precedent that anybody can find for someone who has been charged with perjury just getting off scot-free. That’s the kind of stuff where you begin to get worried that basic — not just institutional norms — but our basic understanding of rule of law is at risk. And when you start moving in those directions, it can accelerate pretty quickly as we’ve seen in other places."

Oh, Obama was so clever. By framing General Flynn with a process crime, Obama thought he would get away with spying on political opponents.

Now he fears retribution.

Suffice it to say, Obama learned the wrong lesson from President Nixon.

  1. Huh. Fancy that! Mr “No Drama-Bama” starts to sweat as his deceit begins to unravel. As a self-proclaimed “Christian,” Mr Obama should have heard the scripture “to be sure your sins will find you out.” Oh, well maybe not at Jeremiah Wright’s church. Schadenfreude is sweet!

  2. Barack Milhous Obama should have learned one simple lesson from Nixon:

    Paranoia will destroy ya.

  3. Nixon was undone not so much by what he did but by his own character flaws.

And that the Deep State was out to get him.

And that first lesson, don't be guilty, really didn't help Flynn or Nixon.

  4. I remember on Don's old blog back in 2008-I said:" Obama will be Nixonian scold, paranoid and will suffer a similar fate". IT just took longer and he isn't protected by the office..
Also-"It took Nixon to go to china"-it took Trump to leave.

  5. In addition to learning from Nixon, President Trump is learning from his Democrat opponents to never let a good crisis go to waste. While they are looking to use the Kung Flu to impose socialism, Trump is planning to end sanctuary cities when their mayors and state governors come crying for federal financial bailouts.

  6. I don't always comment but when I do I speak of Intelligence History

Nixon part XXL (the next to final chapter)

I find that Libs saying "that's like Nixon" has now finally lost it's bite. After claiming every Republican president "is Nixon" then have Trump blow through a lot of those past "acted normal" presidents... yeah the "You are Nixon!" just does not bite like it used to.

Trump DID learn very much from Nixon. One sure thing he realized early is that FBI is not your friend and in fact may be out to get you.

Deep Throat (aka Mark Felt FBI) pretty much obliterated any semblance of thinking the FBI is politically neutral. But heck Comey sped past ANY previous FBI political neutrality. Trump figured out that Comey was a Felt. and FBI Felts MUST be fired.

I really don't know why FBI has this halo around them. Sure they get good press. Sure they are the heroes in most recent movies. But in actual practice THEY ARE a very powerful Federal Bureaucracy that has gained too much power in the 9/11 aftermath.

there were big fights about where FBI should be post 911. The new Homeland was supposed to get FBI but Dems and Justice sacred cows and elders fought very hard to make sure that didn't happen.

The idea was to make something like MI-5 the problem is that we have a Constitution not a Magna Carta. We DO have laws in this country that protect US persons from what the FBI did in Flynn's case.

The FBI is SUPPOSED to be a Law Enforcement / Investigative organization and BE BY THE BOOK. They ARE NOT supposed to get involved in Intelligence operations where the world is GRAY.

Post 9/11 we trusted the FBI's mythical halo would prevent the FBI from being a modern US KGB. Unfortunately the whole RussiaGate fiasco has proven that Power Corrupts everyone.

You CANNOT be allowed to SPY on a US Person without an OFFICIAL Court Ordered Warrant. End. Of. Story.

There is NO WAY a Legitimate Public US District Judge would authorize a Warrant to SPY on a Presidential Candidate during a Freakin' Election!!!

But somehow (through the black magic of FISA)... that is EXACTLY what happened. And SOMEHOW we the citizens need to MAKE DAMN SURE this NEVER HAPPENS AGAIN!

Fun Fact! This event is EXACTLY what the Civil libertarians ALL warned us about during the whole post 9/11 spin up of Domestic Spying.

They were right, I was wrong. We need to end Domestic spying work arounds like FISA. End them.

    1. Excellent points Dear Sir!!! I would hasten to add that I too should fall on my sword: I supported the Patriot Act under GWB. Boy was I in error!!!

#1. Abolish the Bureau of Falsify, Bully, & Intimidate. Their duties can be handled by Federal Marshals. I would aver the FBI has been dirty from its inception, J. Edgar Hoover being no Boy Scout. It’s only become worse - visibly - as you say since Mark Felt.

The upside is that PDJT is grinding the last FOUR presidential admins into dust & deservedly so.

One thing it *did* remind us is that for our laws and system of justice needs gentlemen for it to work properly. Ungentlemanly actions and participants will only allow for abuse.

  9. There is a relatively simple way to ensure this never happens again and it does not require congressional action.
Flynn should sue the government AND each slimeball from obama all the way down the food chain. Because there activites were outside legal parameters the government does not have to represent them as individuals. Trump can settle the government's part for $10 million, as you suggested earlier. Then let everyone else defend themselves. Just the opposite of class action.

  10. Why does anyone think Zero is "scared?" There is no way he will ever be charged with anything. Half the people will believe the lies about him by the domestic enemies even if the truth of his criminality comes out.

    1. Not sure about the legality of charging an ex-president for crimes committed in office. But they can be impeached even out of office. Impeachment wouldn't put him in jail, but it would end Secret Service protection, pension, any political influence he has and "Secure his legacy" forever.

    2. A former POTUS has no immunity for crimes committed while in office. Obama can, and should be, charged for the crimes he is responsible for. Frankly, insurrection charges are not out of line, nor are several other felony charges. Any of those would deprive him of SS protection and, perhaps, his pension. He should spend the rest of his life in the crowbar hotel.

  12. As much as I hate to say it, I DO think Obama should not be jailed - he probably well deserves it, but like it or not, he was The President, and if he goes to jail, people like Shiff & Pelosi on all sides would be throwing Ex Presidents in the slammer. VERY "Banana Republic".

But also, Now that women are so involved in politics, the President's wife should also be covered by the Term Limit - if, say, Hillary would get in, that is in fact a third term for Bill.
