Waffle House shows the emergency over

The first business to re-open after a hurricane is Waffle House. FEMA officials call it the Waffle House Index, and swear by it. You see, safety is not enough. You have to convince people it is safe.

Waffle House is re-opening its dine-in service. The COVID-19 crisis is over.

About 1,300 of its 2,000 or so restaurants remained open for drive-through service.

Breitbart News reported, "Waffle House CEO Walt Ehmer on Wednesday met with President Donald Trump and industry leaders at the White House to talk about the process of reopening restaurants after the height of the corona virus pandemic."
Its CEO said, "Restaurants have a unique opportunity to help lead us out of this and the reason for that is that we’ve been practicing safe food handling for years. The safety of our guests has always been paramount."

There will be precautions and rules about social distancing.

But there will be waffles. Lots and lots of waffles.

Dine-in service began on Monday at 330 Waffle Houses in Georgia and 70 in Tennessee, states that are re-opening.

Of course, it is up to the customer to keep the restaurants open, which means the politicians who panicked must now restore public confidence. Talk about a second wave hitting -- without evidence -- sabotages those efforts.

CNBC reported, "The locations that now have partial dine-in service had remained open for carryout during the COVID-19 crisis, Ehmer said. He said those that were temporarily shuttered due to a lack of sales will, for the time being, remain closed."

Ehmer said, "The role we’re trying to play right now is to help the country and help ourselves figure out how to deal with the virus being with us for some time and how to get our businesses prepared to provide jobs and opportunities for our people."

We have to get the economy going again. We have no other choice. No jobs, no money, no food on the table. It is that simple.

  1. Fine. Let Waffle House remove the signage prohibiting firearms from their property, and I'll be happy to come back to their establishment. ='[.]'=

    1. Ray, is that a corporate policy or an individual franchisee decision? I won't patronize a "gun free zone" if I have a choice about it. It's an academic question for me though; I don't have a Waffle House within a 1000 miles. And my nearest Chik-Fil-A is about 500 miles away.

    2. Not sure, Greg. I wasn't even aware of it until I heard (on Breitbart a coupla years back) about it, and then, when I knew what to look for, sure enough, I saw the signage posted in the parking lot. As it would be not only unlawful but also rude to enter private property armed when it was posted as prohibited, I have had to pass on their pretty tasty and affordable fare. ='[.]'

  2. "Talk about a second wave hitting -- without evidence -- sabotages those efforts." Very true.
"It’s ‘inevitable” for the return of the coronavirus and it’s important to be ready," White House health adviser Dr. Anthony Fauci said Tuesday.
It is getting really old to hear experts push that Covid-19 will return in the fall. Yes, colds and the flue do, but other coronaviruses, as with MERS and SARS in recent years, did NOT. This type of talk only reinforces the fear of this virus; already 79% in a poll believe the pandemic will return.
This gives governors a reason to keep their states shutdown in some form.
And here I thought that MERS and SARS was very obviously the proper comparison. Silly me.

    1. Fauxi is lying and been a disaster from day 1 just like brix. Returning? What crystal ball is he using? Prof fergusons garbage models? This is pure speculation, is spreading panic, and the height of irresponsibility. Trump needs to dump him and brix--these two have been wrong on everything since day 1. Since when does an entire nation quarantine healthy people? Trump needs to fure these frauds if he wants to get our country going again.

  3. If they had a Tudor’s in Martinsburg, Big D, I’d be ALL OVER dat. But they don’t, so The House will be one of our first stops. Followed shortly thereafter by a visit to the hospital to get my bunghole photographed, which was postponed due to the Wuhan Hoax. Read yesterday that HALF of the 1st quarter GDP decline was due to “non-essential” health procedures (which you’ve commented well about) being shelved. So, I’m coming out of the gate STRONG for America’s recovery!

    1. I think most people are so sick of this, they won’t fall for it, even some liberals.

  5. I have to say, armed protesters inside the Michigan state house is pretty closet to pitchfork and torch time. Good for them. Tyrants rule by fear. It's time they experience fear in return. Voters need to dish it out. - Gary B
