Two weeks ago, President Donald John Trump announced that initial reports on using antimalarial drugs on COVID-19 were promising. He called it a game changer.
The president admitted that he was a no expert, but he said at a briefing, "I feel good about it. That’s all it is. Just a feeling. You know, I'm a smart guy. I feel good about it. And we're going to see. You're going to see soon enough."
The media immediately denounced him. just as they did when he said Obama spied on him. Just as they did when he said the Russian Collusion story was a hoax. And once again, the president was right.
Oh how they howled.
CNN said, "Trump peddles unsubstantiated hope in dark times."
Unsubstantiated hope!
Surely that is an impeachable offense.
The CNN story said, "To fight the corona virus, President Donald Trump is adopting the audacity of false hope.
"For the past two days, Trump has said he is dispensing 'game changer' breakthroughs on treatments and a wartime-style effort to mass produce medical supplies that appear as rays of light amid America's darkening battle against the corona virus pandemic.
"His eagerness for remedies no doubt reflects a sincere desire to deliver Americans from the nightmare of lockdowns, fear for loved ones and atmosphere of national trauma."
Michael Bloomberg did one better. His news service went for the jugular, declaring, "Nigeria Has Chloroquine Poisonings After Trump Praised Drug."
Mini Mike's report said, "Nigeria reported two cases of chloroquine poisoning after U.S. President Donald Trump praised the anti-malaria drug as a treatment for the novel corona virus.
"Health officials are warning Nigerians against self-medicating after demand for the drug surged in Lagos, a city that’s home to 20 million people. Two people were hospitalized in Lagos for chloroquine overdoses, Oreoluwa Finnih, senior health assistant to the governor of Lagos, said in an interview."
People in Nigeria were taking the drug without a prescription before President Trump said a word about the drug.
Mini Mike also reported, "Virus Drug Touted by Trump, Musk Can Kill With Just Two Gram Dose."
That story said, "The drug touted by the U.S. President Donald Trump as a possible line of treatment against the corona virus comes with severe warnings in China and can kill in dosages as little as two grams.
"Red China, where the deadly pathogen first emerged in December, recommended the decades-old malaria drug chloroquine to treat infected patients in guidelines issued in February after seeing encouraging results in clinical trials. But within days, it cautioned doctors and health officials about the drug’s lethal side effects and rolled back its usage."
Dr. Milton Wolf tweeted, "FACTS: 1. Every drug ever in history kills if overdosed.
"2. Even water kills if taken in excess.
"3. The American media is garbage. They'll claim a cure is a killer just to bash @realDonaldTrump. They are the enemy of the people."
He is absolutely right.
Then there was the infamous Arizona Man story.
CBS reported, "Arizona man dies, wife ill after taking drug touted as virus treatment: 'Trump kept saying it was basically pretty much a cure.'"
The CBS story said, "A Phoenix-area man has died and his wife was in critical condition after the couple took chloroquine phosphate, CBS affiliate KPHO reported. The additive used to clean fish tanks that is also found in an antimalarial medication that's been touted by President Donald Trump as a treatment for COVID-19."
CBS lied. The president did not recommend taking chloroquine phosphate. The fish tank cleaner does not contain antimalarial medication. The woman did not listen to the president because she is a large donor to anti-Trump PACs.
Those lies from CBS are still posted online.
Politico reported, "Trump's push for risky malaria drugs disrupts corona virus response."
The story quoted an unnamed bureaucrat, who said, "Everyone is getting ahead of their skis here. All this buzz is confusing the American public, it's confusing doctors. There’s a ton of people involved in front-line response in the government … who are getting pulled into meetings to discuss this when the data doesn’t support it."
USA Today editorialized against this treatment. I did not know that the editors were virologists in their spare time.
It said, "Coronavirus treatment: Dr. Donald Trump peddles snake oil and false hope. There are no approved therapies or drugs to treat COVID-19 yet, but the president hypes preliminary chloroquine trials at White House briefing and unproven remedies on Twitter."
The editorial ended, "In this crisis, all Americans must stay vigilant with social distancing and personal hygiene to avoid infection. If Trump's promises about quick cures cause people to relax their preparedness because they believe that some pill to protect them is right around the corner, it places everyone more at risk."
It was a kneejerk reaction from a bunch of jerks.
Democrats and the media that services the party for some reason chose to oppose this treatment. Surely they do not want a million people to die just so they can elect Joe Biden president.
Diana Zuckerman, president of the National Center for Health Research (formerly National Research Center for Women & Families), told Politico, "Wow, that is bad advice from President Trump. Lives can be saved if red tape is cut in terms of making tests, respirators, and hospital beds more available. Making untested antivirals available is not a good strategy."
That's odd because Democrats have praised Red China's response to COVID-19 -- a response that spread the virus around the world in secret -- which included using antimalarial drugs to treat the virus.
So much shade was thrown on this regimen that the Democrat governors of Michigan and Nevada leaned on doctors not to prescribe these drugs to treat COVID-19.
A week later, they are begging for the drug because it works if properly administered by a doctor.
Save us, President Trump. You're our only hope.
Captain Obvious at Fox News reported, "After repeatedly mocking President Trump for suggesting on March 19 that hydroxychloroquine could be an effective treatment for coronavirus, media organizations have begun acknowledging that the drug -- now approved for emergency use to treat coronavirus by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) -- may be useful after all.
"Journalists and top Democrats have beaten a similarly hasty retreat from their previous claims that Trump's ban on travel from China was both xenophobic and ineffective. But media outlets' misinformation on hydroxychloroquine was unique because it involved not simply policy disagreements but also suggestive medical advice and directives that could have dissuaded some from seeking certain treatments."
The treatment may be useful.
Gee, Fox is going out on a limb like that after the drugs have saved so many lives.
The media was wrong. Our very stable genius president was right. Instead of wasting all their time trying to prove this president wrong, reporters should listen to what he says because he has been right time and time and time again.
No one in the media will lose their job. Who knows, maybe the New York Times will win another Pulitzer for its coverage of the fish tank cleaner deaths, just as it won for its coverage of the Russian collusion story, in which it got everything right except the fact that there was no Russian Collusion.
CNN and MSNBC now are ignoring his press briefings in favor of running endless panels of anti-Trump zealots who call him Hitler and the like. It is childish. It what their globalist corporations want. One death is a tragedy. A million are a statistic, right comrade?
A kneejerk reaction from a bunch of jerks. One of the best lines of the year. Well done sir
ReplyDeleteThe rot of the liberal brain is hideous.
ReplyDeleteYou can bet Fredo got some HCQ. Many MDs are taking it as prophylaxis. The media reaction to this has been criminal but good MDs have never payed attention to these scum. Unfortunately for them, a few politicians did.
ReplyDeleteOne of the early touts of HCQ was it preventative qualities.
DeleteWe need a more accurate name for the so-called “mainstream media”. More accurately, it would be the “Propaganda Media” or the “Leftist Democrat Media”. We do everyone a disservice when we are inaccurate in calling these propagandists something other than what they are now. Essentially, they have become a mirror image of Josef Goebbel’s propaganda machine in Nazi Germany. So, let’s call a spade a spade.
ReplyDeletelet's try Orwell for $500, Alex.
Deletewhat is "ministry of truth?"

I like Fake News myself.
DeleteI can tell you this...WHEN the Second Civil War starts, I got dibs on the ScuzzBusters brigade. Its objective will be to destroy any and all physical structures housing network media, including ALL hardware. If there are people inside, they shall be considered enemy combatants and summarily executed.

"Garbage Media"
DeleteFake News is often used to describe a particular occurrence of fakery. So, IMHO, we need a term to generally describe the media cabal that constantly generates examples of Fake News.
DeleteI have used the term "Enemy Press" for years. That seems to fit still....
DeleteThey are an integral part of the new Axis of Evil: Democrats, the press and China. - Gary B
DeleteI’m in on that, GB.
DeleteHow about DemCongCriminalLiberalMediaPropagandaComplex?
DeleteAgreed. How about the "Demoganda Media"
ReplyDeleteAs a rheumatologist, I have used this drug for 40 years. It is remarkable safe, damage from the protocols of treatment for 5 days are very minimal, probable less that 1/10,000 cases. And, lets get real, the President, in spite of his many talents is NOT a doctor and no one should be taking his thoughts for treatment. He was simply being a cheerleader and justifiably so. His instincts remain excellent and I think he may be right.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Doc. My late Mother-in-law had RA and she took it for a good 20 years with no side effects to speak of. President Trump noted the the French Study and other took it and ran with it..
DeleteI mentione dthis a tmy last Doctor's visit and the Nurse, who not
My Doc's regular Nurse and severe TDS sufferer. Laughed a tme and my mentioning the Words:"President Trump" said. "What does HE know about Science?" she said..I countered with the French study
Dr. Raoult's and said there are others.. "We'll see I only trust the WHO and the CDC." Ok. She did shut up when she condescendingly asked how I knew so much about studies and such -

Not yer average deplorable, lady..
Doug - one heart at a time. Enjoyed reading about your conversation.
DeleteAs the media parties media arm is still grinning up hostility at a time like this, perhaps draconian measures are required to stop normal people from just starting to burn all their houses down, and save them from themselves.
ReplyDeleteWouldn't that be rich. The left begging Trump to be Hitler and save them.
Chuckle, chuckle.
Hillary's guy Dr. Doom (Fauci) has gone from 2 million dead to 200 K dead to maybe less but we must destroy the economy. Read what he wrote during the Bird Flu or his love letters to Hillary. He started out badmouthing CQ and to this day hasn't said one good thing about it. With all his ties to big pharma and the deep state the last thing he wants is a cheap cure or an economic recovery. And yes, Trump knows that Brix and Fauci are Hillary people but he's letting this all play out.
ReplyDeleteD J Trump never tried to prescribe Hydroxychloriquine. He prescribed hope, while evil MEN peddles despair.
ReplyDeletechanging 1A would today have more support than most would imagine. Why should corporations be able to profit from deceit? Media should be regulated by the SEC and its principles fed to the lawyers for producing faulty products like they are for cars or planes. The "press" of the Constitution has ceased to exist. Its corrupt progeny no longer deserve immunity from the courts.
ReplyDeleteIf they change the 1st they will want to do away with the protection of the 2nd. NO.
DeleteHowever libel/slander laws might change..
any2A restrictions would fail to get 37 states to agree due to fear of losing personal protection. It would be the other way around for some change in 1A. the time is good now, won't last long.
DeleteU.S. media should be non-essential businesses.
ReplyDeletehttp://sultanknish.blogspot.com/2020/04/why-is-media-exempt-from-coronavirus.html
We'll just show Biden agreeing that we have to re-elect Pres. Trump.
ReplyDeleteWell I used to call them Democratic Party Propagandists, DPP, Dippies for short.
ReplyDeleteNow it would be more correct to call them Chinese Communist Party Propagandists. CCPP. Chippies for short.
But as the Good Professor Reynolds is wont to say, don't think of them as biased. Think of them as being on the other side.
Trump is now having his daily press briefing, shown on Fox Business channel.
ReplyDeleteMeanwhile, CNN and MSNBC are running call-in shows where random individuals are boo-hooing their personal experiences with the Chinese virus.
WE'RE ALL HAVING ISSUES! How is one person's experience in Podunk Wyoming qualifying as nationwide TV news?
You aren't a serious news organization if you're not running a President's news conference during a national crisis!
The Chinese information that the disease was not communicable and other misinformation lead our medical experts to believe it was a minimum risk, as was SARS, for the US. And the medias disdain for the use of chloroquine is dangerous to those sick with Covid-19. The Chinese and media misinformation has, IMO, caused the deaths of many Americans.
