Jennifer would have saved the party

(Graphic courtesy of Pro Trump News.)

Tulsi Gabbard will not be on stage for the next Democrat debate as the party changed its rules once again. The new rule apparently is you must be at least 75 to be president. Which is just as well because at 38, she is too young to be the one to save the party.

Jennifer is. Or was.

Only 7 years older, Jennifer was born in that sweetspot for girls, back when girls had to work twice as hard to get as much as a boy. It was not like today when any Tom, Dick, or Harry can put on a dress and become a girl.

She grew up reading Judy Blume and trying to be Martina Navratilova on the tennis court. She even taught herself to play left handed. It bothered Jennifer for a while when her heroine came out of the closet. And then it bothered her that it bothered her. And then she got over herself.

You did not have to like her politics to like her. She was that type of girl. She had the charm of Reagan and the charisma of Kennedy.

And yes, I will call her a girl. I was 20 years older than her to the exact date.

Jennifer worked hard on her makeup and had big hair in the '80s. She grew up watching MTV, kissed her first boy at 14, and had her first beer at 18. She worked at a video store to pay for community college before landing a scholarship at Kenyon College, the alma mater of Rutherford B. Hayes, our first Kenyon president.

She went to Stanford for law school, the alma mater of Sandra Day O'Connor, the first woman on the Supreme Court, another of her heroines because of all the sexism O'Connor overcame.

Jennifer wanted to be the first woman president. After law school, she landed an assistant U.S. attorney job, then ran for state attorney general. She lost but came back 4 years later and won. Never count the woman out. Governor was next. She campaigned hard for Hillary.

Now at 46, it was Jennifer's turn. Beautiful, athletic, and smart, she would have the tenacity to give President Donald John Trump a run for his money by actually seeking to flip his voters. And after her loss, she would make no excuses, instead working that much harder to win in 2024.

Except she died on January 23, 1973, the day after the Roe v.  Wade decision and exactly a month after her mother learned she was pregnant. With abortion now the law of the land -- a right! -- she aborted Jennifer. Her mother was not too young, not poor, and not single. She just did not want another child.

(And no, I was not her father nor is she a relative nor is she the child of anyone I know.)

James Taranto of the Wall Street Journal coined the phrase "Roe Effect," a theory that holds that because liberals tend to abort children and conservatives tend to raise them that over time there are fewer liberal voters. This would explain why liberals want to import voters from Mexico, Kenya, and Somalia.

But the Roe Effect also applies to candidates, and in 2020 it left the cupboard bare for Democrats. They are down to a 30-something Samoan, and 2 Geriatric Cranks who are too old to be Baby Boomers.

As Bette Davis sang, "They're Either Too Young or Too Old."

Yes, President Donald John Trump is 73. But he bested a field in 2016 that had Ted Cruz (then 45) and Marco Rubio (then 44). They will be in their 50s in 2024.

Bernie Sanders and Joe Biden bested Mike Bloomberg (78) and Elizabeth Warren (70).

On July 21, all three of the top Democrats in the House will be 80 or older. Steve Scalise (54) and Kevin McCarthy (55) are their opposite numbers in the House.

The inability of the Democrat Party to produce quality candidates is a blinking idiot light on the political dashboard. Jennifer would have saved the party.

The Roe decision aborted her. Every Supreme Court justice who voted for it was confirmed by a Democrat Senate.

47 years later, the bill comes due.

  1. The lack of good candidates is also partly Obama's fault. A party's major candidates were once the newcomers running for federal or state level races 8-10 years prior, and Obama's arrogance cost a lot of them their jobs in 2010-2016.

So, there's that, plus abortion, and the fact that the leftists have sold their souls to the devil.

  2. I do hope there are more conservative babies born, but until we root out the communist doctrine in our schools, it might not mean much except for frustrated conservative parents! I see the ignorance of young people everyday - they see THEIR failures as the fault of "Government" or "the Courts"! Their failures to take responsibility of THEIR failures results in them losing MORE sense of responsibility! They need to face the facts - I think PRESIDENT TRUMP and his TEAM are working on that!

    1. An example of of the ignorance of young voters is that only 13% of them went out and voted on Super Tuesday. So much for Bernie support in colleges.

    2. Even if they have to go to public schools parents need to teach them at home. Make that a priority and not let them be fed stuff that will hurt them. Morality, decency, true history and teach them to develop a good work ethic.

    3. Better yet, keep your ids out of "public" government schools. There are plenty of alternatives for those who put in the effort to look. They aren't alk "free", but neither are public schools, and they aren't nearly as expensive as Socialist brainwashing.

  3. your readers would be shocked to know just how little us history is taught in our schools anymore. After navy i worked part time substitute teacher here in midwest. Textbooks give maybe a paragraph to abe lincoln, teddy roosevelt, founding fathers etc....forget about learning how we rebuilt europe after ww2, sacrificed immensely to turn back the japanese from taking over the pacific....saved freedom in both world wars etc. Now THESE students are being elected to office nationwide.....There is America's future.

  5. But, of course, Jennifer's birth would have meant that the Dems did not go bat shit crazy and that alone, whether she had accomplished all you suggest, would have been a great, great milestone.

  6. The constant changing of rules is a hilight of the Democrat party.

They claim to loooove Democracy but never seem to implement it for themselves.

They thought the illegals would save them, just didn't happen.

    Excellent piece.

was one of my wife's students. She came to our house (this is southern Oregon coast.-Very little law enforcement.)The girl was 8months pregnant.
Boyfriend came to the door, Pushed himself in, grabbed the girl as he was doing that, wife grabbed her .38 colt and stuck it in his ear and said"Let. Her.Go." He did. Ran out and with our old border collie chasing him. An hour later the sheriff arrived.
The Girl went on to Med school..

      Hahahaha...

No God means no sin. No sin means everyone what is “right” in his or her own eyes. THAT, my friends, is called anarchy.

      When can I start shooting?

  13. My wife and I had two girls and were considering a third child. She was having unusual periods, and the doctor decided to do a cobalt exam. about two weeks later we found out she was pregnant, and quickly determined it happened just before the cobalt.
The doctors advised us to abort the child. He would be born with birth defects and might possibly be severely retarded.
We opted to keep him. He turned out to have some issues. Not retarded by any means, but certainly a different kid as far as learning went.
Yes, he can learn. He is now a doctor specializing in nutrition. Hard to believe that 32 years ago we were asked to consider murdering him.

  14. IF

When rape results in pregnancy, or when giving birth might cost the mother's life, few women would fail to consider as an alternative:

    Abortion.

But let's say you're a doctor--a physician not morally adverse to terminating a patient's pregnancy--and the circumstances are neither frivolous nor dire.

Let's say that on a given day you are consulted by two young women, both pregnant, both doubtful as to whether they should be.

Read the rest of the story by Paul Harvey.

  18. Halfway through reading this, I felt as though I was listening to good old Paul Harvey telling "The Rest of the Story", and the anticipation was building up to find out the big reveal at the end! As you brought it to a close the feeling of nostalgia mixed with sadness was powerful. I hope some pro-abortion people read this and at least think...

  24. I wish there were no "Parties", just Patriots striving for real leadership in this nation. Sad, but true: "The Politician concerns himself only with the next election. The Statesman is concerned with the next GENERATION" (Churchill). Impossible to imagine the geniuses murdered inside their fearful, selfish or choosy mothers. (God knows.)

  25. I think Jennifer would have been a supporter of abortion. As long as men can walk away from a pregnancy they helped to make, women will want to walk away from a pregnancy they helped to make. There's exceptions but generally abortion is a failure of morals.

  27. As a flyover-country atheist and conservative, I agree with the right of Lefties to kill off their progeny - which is the way abortion is playing out - and therefore should be protected. In the 46 years since Roe v. Wade (1973) there are ~100,000,000 fewer lives in being in the U.S. (a number equal to the entire population of our five most populace states), as a result of abortion counting those aborted plus their subsequent generations of progeny, the vast majority of whom would have most likely been reared Lefties had they lived, and the resulting U.S. electorate turned irredeemably hard Left as a consequence by their shear numbers.

  28. I had an uncle who was a result of rape. He was born in 1925. He was adopted by a loving family, became a Mennonite minister, reared my 6 cousins, and has a grandson who is minister of the same church! I can't imagine what life without Vernon would have been like!

Very sobering story and the fictional character is a reality to so many aspects of life: the cure for cancer, the musical genius of Mozart, the discovery of the means to expeditious interplanetary travel, the kind generous life of Mother Teresa and the list would go on and on. I was encouraged to hear the heart cry of a Democrat woman during the Amy Klobuchar town hall that 20 Million in the Democrat Party are Pro-Life and are concerned about the state of the party that disregards the unborn up to the moment of birth.
