Castro, not Mini Mike, may bring Bernie down

I have said the Democrat race is Breadline Bernie's to lose, and he just may.

In an interview on 60 Minutes, Senator Sanders said, "We're very opposed to the authoritarian nature of Cuba but you know, it's unfair to simply say everything is bad. You know? When Fidel Castro came into office, you know what he did? He had a massive literacy program. Is that a bad thing? Even though Fidel Castro did it?"

Interviewer Anderson Cooper then said, "A lot of political dissidents were imprisoned in Cuba."

BS replied, "That's right. And we condemn that. Unlike Donald Trump, let's be clear, you want to-- I do not think that Kim Jong Un is a good friend. I don't trade love letters with a murdering dictator. Vladimir Putin, not a great friend of mine."

Old Breadline was too clever by half. Cuban refugees in Miami, conservatives, and even Democrats took umbrage. People understand the difference between trying to negotiate with a nuclear-armed madman and praising a communist dictator who died a billionaire.

Take two.

BS went on Fredo Chris Cuomo's show on CNN to 'splain himself.

FREDO: "Let's take one more step down the road of the stigma that's coming from some of your fellow Democrats. You said on 60 Minutes this weekend it is unfair to simply say everything is bad with the way Fidel Castro ruled in Cuba. Now Democratic members of Congress who represent Cuban Americans in Florida -- obviously you've got to win there -- they're attacking your comment as absolutely unacceptable, singing the praises of a murderous tyrant. Response?"

BERNIE: "The response was, when Castro first came to power, which was, when, '59? Does that sound right?"

FREDO: "'59, '60."

SANDERS: "OK. You know what did? He initiated a major literacy program. There was a lot of folks in Cuba at that point who were illiterate. And he formed a literacy brigade -- you may read that -- he went out and they helped people learn to read and write. You know what? I think teaching people to read and write is a good thing.

"I have been extremely consistent and critical of all authoritarian regimes all over the world, including Cuba, including Nicaragua, including Saudi Arabia, including China, including Russia. I happen to believe in democracy, not authoritarianism.

"But, you know, you can't say -- China is another example, all right? China is an authoritarian country, becoming more and more authoritarian. But can anyone deny -- I mean, the facts are clear -- that they have taken more people out of extreme poverty than any country in history? Do I get criticized because I say that? That's the truth. So that is the fact. End of discussion."

FREDO: "So to the Democrats who say you don't say good things about Fidel Castro, he destroyed freedoms in that country, he played -- picked winners and losers and killed them and put them in prison forever. You don't give him a pat on the back for anything."

SANDERS: "You don't -- it's not a -- truth is truth, all right? Now, if you want to disagree with me, if somebody wants to say that -- and by the way, all of those congresspeople that you mentioned just so happen to be supporting other candidates, just accidentally, no doubt, coincidentally. But, you know, the truth is the truth. And that's what happened in the first years of the Castro regime."

Old Breadline lied. Hans Bader wrote, "But Castro did not give Cubans literacy. Cuba already had one of the highest literacy rates in Latin America by 1950, nearly a decade before Castro took power, according to United Nations data (statistics from UNESCO). In 2016, the Washington Post fact-checker Glenn Kessler debunked a politician’s claim that Castro’s rule significantly improved Cuban healthcare and education."

Comrade Sanders had doubled down in defending Castro, adding praise of Mao and Red China to his revisionism.

This is his Marge Schott moment. She was the detestable owner of the Cincinnati Reds who praised Hitler. She said, "He was OK at the beginning. He rebuilt all the roads, honey. You know that, right? He just went too far."

Like Schott Head, Breadline Bernie ignores the deaths of millions of people to praise a dictator.

A serious man would have cut Castro loose. He would have told Fredo, oh my gosh, I did not mean to praise Castro. No, no, no. What I meant was communism provided all these things and then Castro perverted it by putting dissidents in prison.

Instead, Old Breadline defended Castro. This may have cost him the Florida Primary.

FloridaPolitics.com polled 2,788 likely Florida Democratic Presidential Primary voters. It is now Joe Biden: 33.8%, Mini Mike 24.9%, and Comrade Sanders 13%.

But Florida is a minor player in the Democrat presidential race. California and Texas mean much more.

And of course, how my readers, Marco Rubio, and other normal Americans react to the BS defense of totalitarianism does not matter. The question is whether enough Democrats will rise and say enough to stop the Sanders Train.

    2. And according to Surber...Southerners are just like Nazis...

    3. Not all Southerners, just the ones who cling to the democrat party flag circa 1860.

    4. The Army sent me to Gerrmany for 18 months. I never considered the Germans to be Nazis.

Previously, the Army sent me to Georgia for 18 months and I never considered Southerners to be Nazis or even Confederates.

I learned a little about how the other side lives.

  4. The Dems let Independent/Socialist/Communist Sanders run for President in their Party to fend off the possibility of a 3rd party forming to the left of them. Now they have been overrun by those far left activists. This has led the more conservative/moderate Dems nowhere to go but to Trump if they want to save the country. BTW, there is anecdotal evidence that this is happening on a large scale. However, the MSM will not cover it.

    1. IMO they let Sanders run against Her Odiousness in 2016 to force her to shift her policy positions leftward, never dreaming the old bastard might actually try to wrest the nomination from Her Inevitability instead of pretending to. That's what winning a couple of primaries can do to ambition. The DNC has regretted that ever since.

  5. You'll have to wait for the fight with Trump.

The Demos won't admit Castro was bad. He was a people person.

    Didn't you hear that?

  6. The Breadline Express Breadline Bernie envisions will be taking us straight to the re-education camps. His supporters are fine with this. The sane democrats will either vote for PDJT or no one.

  7. Actually, according to PJ Media, Bernie did something even worse. He arranged to ship nuclear waste from white bread Vermont to a dump in Texas adjacent to a Latino community and got his wife a job with the waste disposers, something so far unaddressed by his Democrat opponents.

    2. Trust me, there is an IMMENSE amount of dirt on this guy. He's just had a compliant local media to ignore for decades. The Sanders crime family is basically just like the Clinton crime family.

One gets a sense of Icarus. This guy could have taken his millions and divided his time between summer at the lakefront estate in Vermont and winter at a Florida waterfront estate. But he couldn't quit while he was ahead - and may end up flying too close to the sun...

  8. Back in the day, there was a Peanuts special where Linus is running for student body president (or similar) and is winning way big... and then at his final "rally" before the election he starts riffling about The Great Pumpkin... and basically tanks the whole thing.

Mr. Sanders' Castro comments brought back memories of that - probably because the same thing is happening now.

Honestly, though, isn't it a wonder how unstable the D race has been since before the get-go? How many "inevitable" nominees have already come and gone? Beto? (Remember him?) Kamala? (Remember her?) Fauxcahontas? Now Breadline Bernie?

  9. The casual racism of white women has gone on long enough! It's time to call it out! Most of you have by now seen the video of the white woman Ebony Bowden laughing and making fun of a veteran long term Indian white house reporter Raghubir Goyal. But the racism of the average white woman has been ignored for far too long and it's time to start calling it out.

We have talked endlessly about how "young white males" are being radicalized online but what about white women? The alt-right is full of white women who make extremely racist statements casually. I won't repeat their quotes here, but we should not ignore the fact that while the alt-right is made up mostly of young white men, it also has a large percent of young white women, and considering that the alt-right has beliefs shared by tens of millions of Americans, that is millions of white American women who are racist.

On neo-nazi websites like GAB, or on lesser known sites like "FreeSpeechExtremist", white women both young and old shamelessly make racist, hateful statements and some even do it in their real legal name, not even hiding behind fake annoymous names. This is what entitled racism looks like, and white women are the epitome of it, because we refuse to call out white women's racism and hold them accountable.

Do I even need to remind you that 52% of white women voted for an openly racist white supremacist President in 2016?

  12. I think Marge Schott and Bernie Sanders make good points, that communism may look good at first blush, but once implemented there will be a lot of mass graves. In Bernie's case, it's actually an argument against his platform.
