Highlights of the News

Donald John Trump is still our president.

ITEM 1: The Art of the Deal.
First you make them beg.

ITEM 2: The Daily Caller reported, "A former Justice Department official picked Friday to oversee the FBI’s reforms of its surveillance procedures in the wake of a damning inspector general’s report was one of the many pundits during the Russia probe to defend the bureau’s surveillance of Trump campaign aide Carter Page.

"David S. Kris, a former assistant attorney general for national security, was also an outspoken critic of Rep. Devin Nunes and other congressional Republicans who accused the FBI of misleading the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court (FISC) in applications to wiretap Page.

"An inspector general’s (IG) report released Dec. 9, 2019, largely vindicated Republicans and Page. The report identified 17 errors and omissions the FBI made in its four applications to surveil Page. The IG also said the FBI was unable to corroborate allegations that Page was a Russian agent.

"Judge James E. Boasberg, who presides over the FISC, tapped Kris to serve as amicus curiae for a review of the FBI’s handling of the Page surveillance warrants. In that role, Kris will assist the FISC in assessing the FBI’s implementation of a series of reforms to address the problems uncovered in the IG report."

Get rid of the FBI already. The corruption metastasized well beyond the director's office. The FBI turned into the Democrat Party's KGB. There is no reform possible. Its buildings needed to be razed and the land salted.

ITEM 3: The Washington Examiner reported, "President Trump's tweet in Farsi expressing his support for Iranians protesting Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has already earned over 200,000 likes, making it the "most liked Persian tweet" in the social media giant's history, according to a leading think tank adviser.

"On Saturday, protesters in the country called upon Khamenei to step down after Iran admitted to shooting down a commercial airliner on which dozens of Iranian citizens were traveling. That evening, the president sent out a tweet in Farsi, saying that he stands with their efforts.

"'To the brave and suffering Iranian people: I have stood with you since the beginning of my presidency and my government will continue to stand with you. We are following your protests closely. Your courage is inspiring,' Trump wrote."

President Trump may be more popular in Iran than Khamenei. But Khamenei remains popular among Democrats. Not one of their presidential candidates tweeted support of the protesters.

ITEM 4: Fox News reported, "A top British official condemned Saturday’s arrest of the U.K. ambassador to Iran during anti-government protests in Tehran, calling the detainment 'a flagrant violation of international law.'

"Rob Macaire, who has been Britain’s envoy to the Islamic republic since March 2018, was arrested as he stopped at a barber shop for a haircut after attending a vigil for the victims of a Ukrainian jetliner that crashed in Tehran last week, the BBC reported.

"Macaire left the vigil after it became a demonstration but was later accused by Iranian authorities of helping to incite the anti-government protest, The Independent of Britain reported.

"He was released after three hours but the arrest infuriated the British government."

So much for diplomatic immunity. This is the regime Democrats side with.

ITEM 5: Jed Babbin wrote, "President Trump had another terrific week with wins on Iran, building his long-promised border wall and the start of a regulatory war to limit the impact of environmental laws on economic growth.

"After last week’s drone strike that killed Iran’s chief terrorist, the ayatollahs were making nearly hysterical threats of revenge. In what was little more than a face-saving move, after warning us of an impending attack on bases in Iraq, the Iranians launched about 15 short-range ballistic missiles that, as the Iranians said, were aimed carefully to not kill any U.S. or Iraqi troops. Trump, sticking with his red line that no Americans can be killed without a U.S. military response, wisely didn’t order a response to that attack.

"The Iranians are still very dangerous and will soon resume their attacks. But for now, they stood down."

Babbin is a neocon who evolved. The president is doing all the things conservatives in Washington said they wanted to do. Babbin is one of the true conservatives who truly is conservative. That delights me.

ITEM 6: PJ Media reported, "Congressman Brian Mast, a Republican from Florida, accused his Democratic colleagues of being cowards for their weak-kneed reaction to the killing of Iranian terror-master Qasem Soleimani. Mast made his comments on the House floor Thursday during the debate over the "war powers act resolution." The Democrats passed the resolution, arguing Trump didn't have the authority to order the missile strike taking out Soleimani and another top terrorist in Iraq.

"Mast served in an ordnance detail in Afghanistan and lost his legs while trying to clear a roadside bomb. Soleimani's IRGC and Quds Force orchestrated the building of many of those bombs. They were responsible for killing 603 U.S. troops and wounding hundreds, if not thousands, of others."

Some say Democrats act this way because they hate President Trump.

I say it is because they love Iran's money. 1% of that $150 billion Obama sent would be enough to wet their beaks.

ITEM 7: The Daily Mail reported, "A prominent pro-Iran militia commander has been killed by unidentified gunmen in Iraq. High-level Popular Mobilization Forces leader Taleb Abbas Ali al-Saedi was shot dead late on Saturday in Karbala, a city about 62 miles southwest of Baghdad."

Prominent? He wasn't worth wasting a missile on.

ITEM 8: Planned Parenthood had a bad 2019.

ITEM 9: Zero Hedge reported, "A Thursday evening software update at Facebook accidentally allowed anyone to view exactly who is posting under the accounts of public figures, businesses and other entities, according to Wired.

"The result? For starters, some 3 million followers of teenage climate activist Greta Thunberg have been reading posts written  by her father, Svante Thunberg, and a climate activist in India who serves as a delegate at the UN's Climate Change organization, Adarsh Prathap. Thunberg, Inc. claims Greta is still the one writing the content."

How dare you steal my narrative!

But props to pops. I couldn't get my kids to even clean their rooms when they were 16.

ITEM 10: The New York Times reported, Mini Mike "Bloomberg on Saturday did not rule out spending a billion dollars of his own money on the 2020 presidential race, even if he does not win the Democratic nomination, and said he would mobilize his well-financed political operation to help Bernie Sanders or Elizabeth Warren win in November if either is the party nominee, despite their sharp policy differences.

"Mr. Bloomberg’s plans would effectively create a shadow campaign operation for the general election, complete with hundreds of organizers in key battleground states and a robust digital operation, ready to be inherited by the party nominee — regardless of who that nominee may be.

"Already, Mr. Bloomberg has spent more than $200 million on advertising, putting him on pace to spend by early March about the same as what President Barack Obama’s campaign spent on advertising over the course of the entire 2012 general election. If Mr. Bloomberg fails to win the nomination, future spending would be redirected toward attacking Mr. Trump."

Bloomberg looks at the big picture and sees the political staff he raises and trains as the brigade that will bring socialism to America. All he asks is when the socialists build a statue to him, they give him lifts.

ITEM 11: The Washington Examiner reported, "Former New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg claims he is ready to spend more than $1 billion in an effort to oust President Trump, but money may not be bringing supporters to his campaign.

"Just 45 people showed up to Bloomberg's latest rally with TV star Judge Judy Sheindlin in Texas on Saturday."

Judge Judy's show has been No. 1 in daytime and the No. 1 syndicated show on TV for 5 consecutive years. And only 45 people showed up to see her. It's the Mini Mike Effect.

To be fair, that's 35 more than showed up for John Kerry filling in for Joe Biden.
I don't know which is more pathetic, that only 10 people showed up or that they were expecting 24.

ITEM 12: Yahoo Finance reported, "Crude oil traders who bet on a major price surge after U.S.-Iran tensions flared last week ended up losing big as those tensions subsided.

"Dan Dicker, a veteran energy trader and founder of The Energy Word, tells Yahoo Finance that the prevalence of algorithmic trading today has made it that much more challenging for human traders."

Algorithms? It is the fracking, baby. After General سم سلیمانی‎, took a missile, gasoline in the Greater Poca area fell 6 cents a gallon. We don't need the rest of the world's oil anymore. Some oil traders still don't get that.

ITEM 13: Tom Rogan reported, "Last week, Vladimir Putin threw his support behind the major 2020 Democratic presidential candidates. At least, he did so on energy policy.

"Speaking at a Moscow business forum, the Russian president echoed Sens. Kamala Harris, Elizabeth Warren, and Bernie Sanders.

"'The fact is that today's technologies of shale oil and shale gas production are, without any exaggeration, barbaric and bad for the environment,' Putin said. 'In some areas of shale oil production, people get black slurry instead of tap water in their homes. We will never use such production technology, no matter how lucrative it may be.'

"Like most of the time, Putin is lying."

Rogan also said, "But the lie is part of Putin's campaign — backed by ample political meddling and Russian cash — to undercut fracking in Europe and in the United States. Putin opposes fracking because it is putting a global price ceiling on Russian energy exports and giving Europe a new measure of independence from Russian energy."

Democrats oppose fracking for the exact same reason. Bernie who honeymooned in Mother Russia is not the only Manchurian candidate. They all are.

ITEM 14: They're just mad about Macron...
They call it mellow yellowvest (quite rightly).

ITEM 15: The Associated Press reported, "A bill has been proposed in the Vermont Legislature to decriminalize adult prostitution. The legislation is co-sponsored by four female legislators."

Meanwhile, KSTP-TV reported, "The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency is working on implementing clean car standards. Gov. Tim Walz directed the agency to begin the process in September.

"'If Washington won't lead on climate, Minnesota will,' Walz said in a news release. 'That is why we are taking bold action to reduce carbon emissions in a way that increases car options, protects public health, creates jobs, and saves Minnesotans money at the pump.'"

Once again, Democrats are OK with real blights on society -- theft, prostitution, drug abuse, pooping in public -- while demonizing fictional threats such as "carbon emissions."

Why does anyone put such fools in charge? Republicans need to get some spine at the state and local level.

ITEM 16: Closing time in Iran?
I thought they added "Destruction of Government Property" to the articles of impeachment when the missile hit the general and exploded.

ITEM 17: The Guardian reported, "He was a Republican ad man but now he’s a bestselling author out to bring down a president. He says Democrats must listen. Democratic voters should read Rick Wilson’s new book, he says, and heed his advice about how to beat Donald Trump."

Beat President Trump? Wilson couldn't even beat Ana Navarro to be CNN's go-to Never Trumper.

ITEM 18: The National Catholic Reporter reported, "Retired Pope Benedict XVI has coauthored a new book defending the Catholic Church's practice of a celibate priesthood, in a shocking move that comes as Pope Francis is considering the possibility of allowing older, married men to be ordained as priests in the Amazon region.

"According to excerpts from the volume released Jan. 12 by the conservative French outlet Le Figaro, the ex-pontiff says he could not remain silent on the issue as Francis is contemplating the move, which was requested by the bishops from the nine-nation Amazon region at October's Vatican synod gathering.

"The book is co-written with Cardinal Robert Sarah, the head of the Vatican's liturgy office. It is to be released in France Jan. 15 and carries the title Des profondeurs de nos cœurs (From the Depths of Our Hearts).

"Although the volume is yet to be seen in full, it appears to signify something as yet unexperienced in the two millennia history of the Catholic Church: a retired pope openly weighing in on something currently under consideration by his successor, the reigning pontiff."

A palace coup ousted Benedict.

Celibacy? They should bring back meatless Fridays. Old school filled the pews.

ITEM 19: The Daily Wire reported, "Stunning images and photos emerged on Sunday from the protests inside Iran showing demonstrators attacking images of former Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps-Quds Force commander Qassem Soleimani while also refusing to walk on American and Israeli flags."

If you want someone to stomp on the American flag, hire a Democrat.

These are refugees I would let in.

ITEM 20: Over the weekend, Dee Dee Meyers, Jay Carney, and a bunch of other political hacks signed a letter to whine about not allowing TV reporters like Jim Acosta preen in a daily White House press briefing. The president instead answers their questions directly when he gets a chance, usually on the way to Marine One. I wrote about it.

Mike Allen asked White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham to respond.

She said, "This is groupthink at its finest. The press has unprecedented access to President Trump, yet they continue to complain because they can’t grandstand on TV. They’re not looking for information, they’re looking for a moment. This president is unorthodox in everything he’s done. He’s rewritten the rules of politics. His press secretary and everyone else in the administration is reflective of that.

"In terms of the former press secretaries — they can publicly pile on all they want. It’s unfortunate, because I’ve always felt I was in this small club of only 29 others who really know what I deal with each day, and that was always comforting. They may not say it publicly, but they all understand why I do things differently. They know I have three roles. They know my boss has probably spoken directly to the press more than all of theirs did combined. They know the press secretary briefs in the absence of the president, and this president is never absent — a fact that should be celebrated.

"Like so many trailblazers, history will look back on this presidency with praise — until then, I’m comfortable with how I do my jobs — and my team and I are always available to the press."

You see, this is why I could never do her job. I would have responded in two words that rhyme with cuck cough.

President Trump is the best PR man in the world. John Barron taught him everything he knows.

  1. If Mini Mike B. speaks at the Democrat convention in Milwaukee (where?) this summer, at least he'll be short.

    1. Mike has cash but does he have a cache of cachet?

    2. Mike bought and brought his idea of gun control to Virginia last election. We're going to see how he plans to make law-abiding citizens into violent criminals for defending their lawful possessions while at the same time not prosecuting already violent criminals because they've been oppressed by the law-abiding.

  3. #2– I would only add that your assessment and recommended disposition of the FBI should equally apply to the rest of our governmental institutions.

  4. Thanks for the roundup.

2-the swamp keeps getting swampier. Amazing.

3-the democrat candidates are writing PDJT’s campaign commercials for him.

11-expecting only 24 for Lurch says it all.

19- the picture of that was worth a million words.

  5. #11 Hillary spent 1.2 billion and had the complete party apparatus behind her... and lost. Go for it Mike! Trump will grind your ass to a powder. B.S.G.

    1. Trouble is, he's sowing the seeds for future acolytes of socialism. Trump will win and I'll be 70 when he leaves office. Who comes after him to serve 2 terms in his legacy so that I can die a happy man?
      Suggestions, please!
      Jersey Jim

  6. #2 ... this problem has been long in the making. The process and court were created in the late 1970s.

Ever since, the FBI abused (aka violating our constitutional rights), judge would write a critical opinion, FBI promises to be good now, judge happy.

The problem is 9-11, Patriot Act, and Obama.

After getting busted by the court after 9-11 for abuses under Clinton, the FBI argued one of the reasons for 9-11 was that they were gun shy in investigating a perpetrator of 9-11 because if that opinion.

In other words, the FBI blamed the court for 9-11.

  7. Hey Mr. Surber! Still waiting for your take on Huber's lousy report on the Clinton Foundation and uranium One.

    Jersey Jim

  8. 6. "wet their beaks" I have no doubt.
    14. OMG now I have that stuck in my head.

  9. Its easy for the CIA to organize astro turf protests. Just pay them. Soros copies them all the time. Days ago the Iraqi leader exposed all of this when he said...

After my return from China, Trump called me and asked me to cancel the agreement, so I still refused, and he threatened me with massive demonstrations that would topple me. Indeed, the demonstrations started and then Trump called, threatening to escalate in the event I did not cooperate and do as he asked…

The US is now an occupation force in Iraq. Our troops are in a terrible place right now. My best friend's son, a drone mechanic, is being transferred from Jordan to Baghdad. His parents are terrified

His personal leave was cancelled. Morale is not good. Way to go Trump you fool you care not a bit about our troops. Thousands have died in Iraq and Afghanistan on a strategy based on lies.

And the lies continue today. Those demonstrations in Iran are as phony as the ones fomented in 1953. Its very easy to pay dirt poor people a few dollars to raise hell for a few days so the propaganda will look plausible.

Now China and Russia are competing to supply Iraq with air defense systems. A bloodbath is coming its the neocon way.

    1. What a bunch of BS from the stupid hypocritical dishonest troll. LOLGF you dummy. No one believes any of the crap in your buckets of diarrhea you dump here. Grow up you lonely idiot loser.

    2. Why do some think lies about Trump work?

    3. OK Boomer...

    4. #1 If only we could have video of Dem’s heads exploding as they read Trump’s tweet about negotiating🤯. 🤣🤣🤣

    5. Israel has figgured out a way to netralize the S400 and 300 systems. The M1 Tor system was a pretty good system but it was only as good as the operators. It couldn't (Or possibly wouldn't )discern Civilian targets..
I'm coming around to the idea that they wanted someone dead on that aircraft...

  10. A Vermont legislator has introduced a bill that would ban anyone under 21 from using a cellphone. Under the legislation introduced by Sen. John Rodgers (D–Essex-Orleans), 20-year-olds caught talking, texting, or TikToking could be imprisoned for up to a year and face $1,000 in fines.
item 15 - need to include exception for over 18 prostitution cell phone use

  11. Item 2: the answer to the FISA Court's corruption is impeachment of every judge on the Court. Failing that, it would be abolition of the Court.

I speak as someone who has spent a career as a prosecutor. I understand the vast power I wield and that if wielded improperly or illegally, the impact on a life or lives would be immeasurable. My job is to put people in jail while at the same time insuring that their rights are fully protected. The FISA Court's job is only the latter and it is clear that it has failed at that miserably.

  12. Don: I love your take on the news!
#20 - Give a new meaning to CC-ing someone on email.

  13. #2, this continues the FISA court coverup, right out in front of all of us. Even after being embarrassed, they want to white wash all this stuff. Sad.
#8, perhaps the tide if finally turning, albeit it slooowly.
#10. It never ceases to amaze me when capitalists who accumulate a fortune, want to change the rules for the rest of us, before we can make ours.

  14. #15 You'd think Minnesota would be ok with warmer temperatures.

  15. 3: Any of them recall, "I voted for it before I voted against it"?

10: This is the Gray Lady talking, so you can bet they're trying to polish another vanity effort as hard as possible.

We've seen it before. George McGovern had a great organization in '72. He lost 49 states.

The Demos had a significant cadre of the Baby Boomers trained and indoctrinated and the best they could do is break even.

    If that.

They had their best shot in '08 and it's all gone.

And I don't think it's coming back for a long time.

  16. 6. Wouldn't it be nice if you could trace it. I guess that's why obama sent unmarked bills.
    8. Pretty soon they won't have enough money to bribe democrats.

  17. Surber beats today's leftist comedians hands down:

I thought they added "Destruction of Government Property" to the articles of impeachment when the missile hit the general and exploded.

  18. Greta Thunberg... the Milli Vanilli of the Climate Change NWO organization. Who knew.

  19. My last month paycheck was for 11000 dollars… All i did was simple online work from comfort at home for 3-4 hours/day that I got from this agency I discovered over the internet and they paid me for it 95 bucks every hour........…Read MoRe
