President Rosalind Sargent-Burns

In an effort to promote civics education, I am starting a new feature: Meet Your Government in which I introduce readers to their various government officials. Let's start at the top with President Rosalind Sargent-Burns.

Unlike the 45 previous presidents, she was neither elected president nor promoted there as a vice president. Instead, she was appointed president by Attorney General William Barr on May 28, 2019, when he chose her to serve as the Acting Pardon Attorney.

According to Democrat Senators Patrick Leahy and Sheldon Whitehouse, she -- not Donald John Trump -- decides presidential pardons.

That makes her president because according to the Constitution, presidents pardon and if she -- not he -- makes those decisions, then she must be president.

The Hill reported that Leahy and Whitehouse sent a letter to her and demanded that President Rosalind Sargent-Burns explain why she let Donald Trump pardon people they do not want pardoned.

The letter said, "The President’s pardon powers are virtually absolute. That is precisely why safeguards must be in place to ensure that they are wielded judiciously – institutional safeguards like your office, which exists to ensure that the President’s pardon powers are exercised fairly and in the interests of justice."

Of course, the two senators may be confused. His pardon powers are absolute. The Constitution says, "He shall have Power to grant Reprieves and Pardons for Offences against the United States, except in Cases of Impeachment."

Rosalind Sargent-Burns simply helps him do that. The decision is his, not hers.

She is no more the president than Sally Q. Yates or James Comey or Richard Spencer were. Rosalind Sargent-Burns serves at the will and pleasure of the president.

She carries out his orders, not those of Congress. Unless he orders her to violate the law, she has no choice but follow his orders or quit her job. Anything less is insubordination.

Her job now is to send these 2 senators back a letter that simply states if you have a problem, take it up with management. She answers to him, not them.

The real American heroes are not the anti-Trump spies and saboteurs Obama the Infant embedded in the government but rather those who accepted the election results and obey the will of the American people through the Man they elected president, the honorable Donald John Trump.

We shall see whose side Rosalind Sargent-Burns is on: America or the Democrats.
