Highlights of the News

Donald John Trump is still our president.

ITEM 1: American Spectator reported, "Trump Scores Big Victory for Shippers. His insistence on Universal Postal Union reforms means we’re no longer covering China’s shipping costs."

The story said, "Postmaster General Megan Brennan is set to step down, and her successor will face the daunting task of turning around the U.S. Postal Service’s finances.

"But the task became a little easier last month when President Trump’s top trade negotiator forced the body that regulates international postage rates to agree to a U.S. proposal that could save hundreds of millions of dollars per year for the Postal Service.

"It was billed as a test of the Trump administration’s diplomatic clout,' and when it was over, not only had the administration demonstrated its clout but it had also dealt a blow to China’s dominance of the postal package market.

"On September 25, the Universal Postal Union, a UN organization that sets rates and rules for international mail among 192 countries, agreed to U.S. demands to reform the fee structure so that importing countries, such as the U.S., and by extension the U.S. Postal Service, could begin to stop the bleeding of losses from distributing mail and packages from countries including China."

If we had free trade as Fake Conservatives pretend we have, then we would not be subsidizing Red China's costs of doing business.

ITEM 2: Two links by Ace of Spade HQ speak to the state of American education today. The first story was "Academic achievement is racist," which linked to a Daily Caller story. Apparently going to public schools to learn is the same as white nationalism. Studying is now putting on a white hood and waving the swastika flag.

The second story was "Common Core leaves kids dumber than they've been in 15 years," which linked to a Federalist story.

Well, there you have it. Problem solved. No more white privilege. If you don't study, you don't learn. If you do study, you still don't learn.

That is better than my suggestion to feed everyone lead paint chips.

ITEM 3CNBC reported, "The unemployment rate ticked higher to 3.6%, in line with estimates, but remains around the lowest in 50 years. A more encompassing measure that includes discouraged workers and those holding part-time positions for economic reasons also edged up to 7%.

"The unemployment rate for African Americans nudged down to a record low 5.4%. Also, the total employment level as measured in the household survey jumped to 158.5 million, also a new high."

The cure for college indoctrination is spelled J-O-B-S. Just as Reagan converted baby boomers with employment, President Trump is winning new generations to capitalism.

ITEM 4: The Daily Caller reported, "Former CIA Acting Director John McLaughlin expressed gratitude Wednesday for the so-called deep state and its role in the impeachment push against President Donald Trump.

"McLaughlin embraced the term when asked during an event with other former intelligence officials whether a CIA whistle blower complaint that sparked an impeachment inquiry feeds into Trump’s complaints that the deep state is out to get him.

"'There is something unique you have to agree that now the impeachment inquiry is underway, sparked by a complaint from someone within the intelligence community, it feeds the president's concern, an often used term about a deep state being there to take him out,' Margaret Brennan, the moderator for the event, asked McLaughlin.

"'Thank God for the deep state,' replied the former spook, who served as acting director at the CIA in 2004."

Hmm. Didn't the CIA work to undermine Bush 43 on McLaughlin's watch? A year after telling him Hussein tried to buy yellowcake uranium in Niger, the CIA sent Joe Wilson to Niger to dispute the claim.

ITEM 5:

Matt Drudge, the Washington Post, Stephen Colbert, and other hyenas believe the most important news story in the world this week was a typo in a President Trump tweet. He spelled Republicans "Rupublicans."

The media do not wish to be taken seriously.

ITEM 6: The GOP reported, "Internal RNC Polling: More Want Biden Investigated Than Trump."

The story said:
  • In our 17 target states, President Trump’s approval has increased by 3 points since Pelosi announced this charade.
  • The President’s sky-high favorability among Republicans has actually increased, as well.
  • By a 5-point margin, more voters would like Joe and Hunter Biden investigated for their business dealings in Ukraine than support holding hearings to consider impeachment of President Trump.
  • Since March, Joe Biden’s image has taken a 31-point hit among Independents. A strong majority now view him unfavorably.
  • In our 17 target states, voters oppose Democrats’ efforts to remove President Trump from office by a 14-point margin.
  • Their support for hearings has dropped since the beginning of October.
  • 70% believe this is “all politics” and would prefer Congressional Democrats focus on issues like health care, trade, and the economy.
  • Independent voters nationally oppose Democrats’ efforts to remove President Trump from office by a 13-point margin.
Looks like the presidential reaction to impeachment should be Bring It On.

ITEM 7: The New York Times alleged, "Professors, Beware. A ‘Student Information Officer’ Might Be Watching."

The story said, "In a throwback to the Mao Zedong era, Chinese universities are deploying students as watchdogs against their teachers, part of a sweeping campaign by Mr. Xi to eliminate dissent and turn universities into party strongholds.

"The use of student informers has surged under Mr. Xi, China’s most powerful leader in decades, with hundreds of universities now employing the practice, according to interviews with more than two dozen professors and students, as well as a review of public records."

So Red China is following American universities in canning conservative professors.

ITEM 8Jim Geraghty opined, "Bonfire of the Democratic Party’s Once-Rising Stars," in which he noted that the five most promoted under-60 Democrats in the presidential race have not lasted a year. They all flamed out. Kamala Harris, Beto O'Rourke, Cory Booker, Julian Castro and Kirsten Gillibrand were supposed to be the future of the party.

They are the future. The party is dead because it cannot reproduce. With the exception of the gay mayor, no one under 70 has a shot at the nomination. In the House, no one under 70 is in leadership.

The gerontocrats who run the party have not had a new idea since the Supreme Court legalized abortion across the land. The neo-communist party that is taking over the Democrat Party should frighten Americans. Warren and the rest are running to stay one step ahead of the avalanche of crazy from a generation raised on anti-white, anti-male anti-Americanism.

Tuesday's legislative election in Virginia may indicate whether the public is OK with reparations, government-run health care and $1.6 trillion in welfare to college graduates.

ITEM 9:
He ran out of other people's money.

It must suck for him and the remaining candidates to know that more Democrats support making Mike Pence president right now than support any Democrat candidate.

ITEM 10:
Occasionally, I try my hand at education.

ITEM 11: Reuters reported, "Democrats' decision to televise Trump impeachment hearings could prove politically perilous."

The story said, " Democrats in the U.S. Congress took a major step toward impeaching President Donald Trump this week when they agreed on the rules for publicly televised hearings after weeks of testimony behind closed doors. But it is also a step onto more politically perilous terrain for a party seeking to persuade Americans that their cause to remove Republican Trump, who they accuse of abusing his power, is just."

I don't see a downside for Democrats. Their media courtesans will show only clips, and will select clips that make him look bad.

I don't see a downside for Republicans. No crime, no impeachment. The Constitution requires a crime -- specifically, treason, bribery, or any other high crime or misdemeanor.

ITEM 12: CNN reported, "President Donald Trump's campaign says House Democrats' vote to formally launch an impeachment inquiry has only emboldened the President's supporters and bolstered their campaign contributions.

"'Nancy Pelosi's impeachment resolution day turned into a MASSIVE fundraising day for ⁦‪@realDonaldTrump⁩,' Trump campaign manager Brad Parscale tweeted Friday morning.

"According to Parscale, the campaign raised $3 million online in one day, totaling $19 million in funds raised over the course of the month."

Never purchase the Acme Impeachment Kit. It stinks. Ask Newt Gingrich.

ITEM 13Fox News reported, "Thousands of migrants returned to Mexico under the Trump administration’s Remain in Mexico policy have given up their asylum claims, with many of them returning home, according to statistics included in a new assessment of the policy released this week by the Department of Homeland Security.

"The policy, known formally as the Migrant Protection Protocols, sends migrants seeking asylum at the southern border back to Mexico for the duration of immigration proceedings. It is a cornerstone of the administration’s efforts to end catch and release, by which migrants are released into the U.S. while their cases are heard.

"Hearings have been held in border towns such as Laredo, Texas, where temporary courtrooms have been set up by the border and migrants are put in front of a judge via video conference.

"So far, the administration has returned more than 55,000 migrants to Mexico. The assessment describes the policy as an 'indispensable tool in addressing the ongoing crisis at the southern border and restoring integrity to the immigration system.' It says that it has completed almost 13,000 cases as of Oct. 21."

Tariffs rock.

President Trump gave Mexico a choice in June between tariffs and protecting the border. It chose the latter.

ITEM 14: Bloomberg News reported, "A bull market that traces its lineage to the depths of the financial crisis is revving up again, notching its fourth straight weekly gain and pushing its advance in 2019 past 22%. After wavering at mid-year amid a U.S.-China trade war and recession anxieties, American stocks are back in melt-up mode, ending three of the past five sessions at records.

"While nobody knows if it’s getting late for this decade-old rally, gains like these have been common at the tail end of bull markets past. A study by Bank of America Corp. on equity peaks since 1937 shows that being uninvested in the last year of an advance meant foregoing one-fifth of the rally’s overall return."

President Trump is the bull in the Red China shop.
