Trumpenfreude hits NHL boycotter

When the Washington Capitals visited the White House in March for winning the 2018 Stanley Cup Championship in, it was without Devante Smith-Pelly, the star of that championship series.

He was very vocal about not attending when the team won the championship as he trashed the president.

But by the time the team visited the White House, he wasn't part of the team. His game had fallen apart. He was a fourth string winger that season until the team demoted him to the minor league Hershey Bears.

This season, the Capitals dumped him. He tried out with the Calgary Flames but he quickly extinguished his hope of returning to the NHL.

Now a Washington Capitals blog, Russian Machine Never Breaks, has reported that he is headed to Korea to play for the Kunlun Red Star KHL team.

The blog said, "Kunlun is currently in 11th place in the KHL’s Eastern Conference. The team recently signed former NHL’ers Ryan Sproul and Griffin Reinhart. They made their KHL debuts today. Peter Bondra’s son David as well as former Capital Wojtek Wolski currently play for the team."

Devante Smith-Pelly is 27, which is the prime age for most professional athletes.

Never feud with Donald John Trump. You cannot win, and many have lost everything. Ask Kathy Griffin how that works.

Or ask Devante Smith-Pelly.
