Russia Collusion 2.0 is mainlining the impeachment without bothering with an investigation. Rather than risk another Mueller flop, Democrats want to just take the allegations at face value and go from there.
The media outlets are willing accomplices.
CNN and MSNBC are riding impeachment hype to higher ratings. It is also clickbait for the newspapers, who haven't figured out the better marketing plan is to offer something the cable stations do not have: balance. American lefties can get the same anti-Trump argle-bargle 24/7 on cable without having to bother reading.
Those of us who like to read should be insulted but we tend to be amused by the sanctimonious falsehoods heaped upon President Donald John Trump by a White House press choir unfit to polish his shoes.
Consider this riff from Peggy Noonan, "He had a Travis Bickell moment — 'You talkin’ to me?' — with Jeffrey Mason of Reuters. He’s careening around, growling and prowling like some preliterate King Lear. It’s a reality show about a reality you don’t want to be in."
Bickle (the Journal misspelled it) was a short man with no power in New York City who came up with a plan to kill a presidential candidate in the film Taxi Driver.
Donald Trump is the president. Robert De Niro, the actor who played Bickle in the movie, is sounding more like a real-life Bickle by the day.
He even wears lifts.

Noonan's nonsense does not necessarily mean she is out of touch. I believe she is well aware that this is Fake News. She just thinks her readers are so dumb they will fall for this again.
The company line (and it does come from the CIA) is that President Trump called the President of Ukraine to get him to dig up dirt on Joe Biden.
What the media does not report is Biden already admitted to the dirt.
He got his worthless son, Hunter, into the Navy despite Hunter being too old to join. After the Navy discharged Hunter for his cocaine addiction, Hunter landed a $600,000-a-year no-show job with Burisma, an energy company in Ukraine, in 2014.
Two years later, a prosecutor was investigating Burisma. Unh-uh said Vice President Biden.
In Joe Biden's own words, he said, "I went over, I guess, the 12th, 13th time to Kiev. And I was supposed to announce that there was another billion-dollar loan guarantee. And I had gotten a commitment from Poroshenko and from Yatsenyuk that they would take action against the state prosecutor. And they didn’t.
"So they said they had — they were walking out to a press conference. I said, nah, I’m not going to — or, we’re not going to give you the billion dollars. They said, you have no authority. You’re not the president. The president said — I said, call him. (Laughter.) I said, I’m telling you, you’re not getting the billion dollars. I said, you’re not getting the billion. I’m going to be leaving here in, I think it was about six hours. I looked at them and said: I’m leaving in six hours. If the prosecutor is not fired, you’re not getting the money. Well, son of a bitch. (Laughter.) He got fired. And they put in place someone who was solid at the time."
Biden just confessed shaking down Ukraine to protect his wastrel son. This is corruption that the media ignores.
To get the story out, I want President Trump impeached because it would give him a very public stage -- unfiltered by the media -- to lay out who the swamp is, what it has gotten away with, and why it is trying to kill his presidency.
An impeachment would allow President Trump to defend himself. He can subpoena Hunter Biden as a hostile witness and ask him about his Burisma job. I would ask him to answer in Ukrainian.
President Trump also can force Daddy Biden to testify. Just what did he mean by "I said, nah, I’m not going to — or, we’re not going to give you the billion dollars. They said, you have no authority. You’re not the president. The president said — I said, call him."
Put Obama on the stand. Ask him about Biden's boast. Was it true? Then ask him why he kept sending Biden to Ukraine.
Put on the stand the "whistle blower," which is the code name for the CIA spy Democrats embedded in the Trump administration.
To be sure there would be plenty of Fifth Amendment refusals to reply. The public sees that as an admission of guilt.
It is.
Democrats do not have to prove anything to impeach the president.
But once they do, they turn the Senate into a courtroom in which President Trump is unlimited in defending himself. I want him to put on the stand Biden, Hunter, Kerry, his stepson, Whitey Bulger's nephew, and 100 other Democrats -- and grill them like the cheap steaks and little weenies they are.
And then I want President Trump to take the stand. He will blow them away.
Calling out the accusers just may be part of the Republican strategy.
Fox News reported, "Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., vowed to expose the anonymous whistle blowers against President Trump if Democrats move forward with impeachment; at the same time, he warned against Trump having China pursue an investigation of Joe Biden."
Graham told Fox News, "There can be no valid impeachment process unless the president can confront the witnesses against him."
The media thinks Americans are idiots who will shun President Trump upon impeachment. The media thinks it can ignore basic facts such as Biden's corruption with impunity. The media also thinks the public is not on to their irrational paraphrases and ... cherry picking ... of quotes ... out of context.
Finally, the media thinks impeachment is the last act of this farce. It should be only the beginning.
Democrats are banking on President Trump wanting to get this impeachment over with quickly.
Why?
So they can harass him again?
They are bullies and he is fearless. That is every bully's worst nightmare.
The Taxi Driver movie ended with a shootout in which the media and the police mistakenly hail Bickle as a hero.
That is not the ending I want. I want this to end with a scene from A Christmas Story. It is time for Ralphie to beat down Scut Farkus.
