Real conservatives really want that 2012 vote back. We knew he was a RINO but we did not realize what a war-mongering spiteful little man he was.
The Hill reported, "Sen. Mitt Romney (R-Utah) ripped the administration over the recently announced cease-fire in Syria, calling President Trump's decision to withdraw troops 'a bloodstain in the annals of American history.'
"'The announcement today is being portrayed as a victory. It is far from a victory. Serious questions remain about how the decision was reached precipitously to withdraw from Syria and why that decision was reached,' Romney said.
"Romney's Senate floor speech came after Vice President Pence announced a five-day cease-fire."
Actually, it is a permanent cease-fire provided the Kurdish YPG forces evacuate the area by Tuesday.
And of course, Romney says it is not a victory because people died.
Yup.
Under his standard World War II was not a victory. World War I wasn't. The Civil War wasn't...
The Hill reported, "Romney added the administration needs to explain what the U.S. role will be moving forward. And the cease-fire, he argued, does not change that the United States 'abandoned' the Kurds.
"'Adding insult to dishonor, the administration speaks cavalierly, even flippantly, even as our ally has suffered death and casualty,' Romney said. 'We once abandoned a red line. Now we abandon an ally.'"
President Trump had no red line.
Obama did. Assad crossed it and Obama did nothing.
And Turkey is our ally. By a treaty ratified by the Senate. Caught between an ally and a people who have no organized government or land of their own, President Trump made the right call to defer to the decision of the ally -- while pointing the gun of economic devastation at Erdoğan's head. The Great Negotiator made him an offer he could not refuse.
Meanwhile, the Kurds are amping up their propaganda machine this morning with claims that Turkey is violating the cease-fire. The American press laps it up like dogs of war.
President Trump brought peace to a small part of the Middle East. In the Bible, it says blessed are the peacemakers. In Washington, they curse them.
