Media learned nothing from Mueller

For two years, the media followed like vultures the Mueller investigation of President Donald John Trump. The talking point at each turn was "the walls are closing in on President Trump." In the end, they dined on nothing but a few indictments of bit players unrelated to any activities by President Trump.

The media follows the House impeachment shenanigans with the same expectation. The only thing changed is the walls have been replaced by a dam that is always about to break. It's as if they are in cahoots to use the dam breaking to sell impeachment -- because they are.

The Democrats and the media want to impeach President Trump for making a phone call to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on July 25. The transcript is here.

Despite the absence of anything untoward in the conversation, the media is pushing a fairy tale that President Trump pressured Ukraine into investigating Joe Biden.

No. They already were because Biden and his son are crooks. Biden admitted withholding a billion dollars in aid to coerce Ukraine into firing a prosecutor and dropping an investigation of his son.

He admitted it.

Biden bragged last year, "I said, I’m telling you, you’re not getting the billion dollars. I said, you’re not getting the billion. I’m going to be leaving here in, I think it was about six hours. I looked at them and said: I’m leaving in six hours. If the prosecutor is not fired, you’re not getting the money. Well, son of a bitch. He got fired. And they put in place someone who was solid at the time."

The media say President Trump is "without evidence" when he points out Biden did the very thing the would-be impeachers falsely claim the president did.

This is not whataboutism. This is extortion. Put Biden in the Big House, not the White House.

Reporters have had the transcript of the call for a month now. They ignore it because the transcript exonerates President Trump. Instead, the media merrily parrots whatever the daily specials from Democrat talking points.

Renato Mariotti at Politico wrote today, "It’s hard to overstate how much damage the testimony of William Taylor, the U.S. envoy to Ukraine, inflicted on President Donald Trump’s defense in the ongoing impeachment inquiry.

"On its face, Taylor’s testimony Tuesday established the quid pro quo that Trump has denied for weeks. But more importantly, Taylor’s detailed notes of the 'highly irregular' policy making that he witnessed over the summer provide a road map to future testimony that could be even more harmful. Republicans have already begun to retreat from their “no quid pro quo” line, but they will have to keep retreating, because Taylor has almost single-handedly decimated the few witnesses who have provided some testimony that is favorable to Trump.

"If I were one of the president’s lawyers, I would counsel him to admit the obvious — essentially to plead guilty and admit this was, in fact, a quid pro quo — and try and convince Congress and the public that it is not as bad as it looks. In my experience, defendants who stubbornly try to deny the obvious in the face of overwhelming evidence rarely convince anyone."

Mariotti has no idea what Taylor actually said because this hearing was held behind closed doors. Democrats did that so they could control the press, and the press is glad to accommodate. There have been no lawsuits by the Associated Press to force Democrats to open the hearings to the public.

Mike Allen of Axios described the strategy today: "President Trump is getting hit with a relentless, daily deluge of leaks — and revelations — from former aides, current officials and Democrats."

In other words, nothing has changed. This has been the case all along in this presidency as the press and the politicians work to undermine a reformer president. Most of it is fiction. Remember how they told us he sits around all day watching Gorilla TV? All of it is distorted. None of it is worth a darn.

He is draining the swamp, and the swamp critters are howling.

The swamp critters are in the end highly credentialed experts who think they know everything, and so they learn nothing. This strategy failed them with Mueller. Bigly.

The vultures followed Mueller and wound up with nothing. They will starve again.
