Highlights of the News

Donald John Trump is still your president.

ITEM 1: India Today reported, "The White House said that Hamza bin Laden, the son of the late al Qaeda leader who had become an increasingly prominent figure in the terrorist organization, has been killed in a US counter terrorism operation in the Afghanistan-Pakistan region.

"A White House statement gives no further details, such as when Hamza bin Laden was killed or how the United States confirmed his death. The statement said that Hamza bin Laden's death 'not only deprives al Qaeda of important leadership skills and the symbolic connection to his father, but undermines important operational activities of the group.'"

Go directly to Hell.

Do not pass Go.

Do not collect 72 virgins.

ITEM 2: The Washington Examiner reported, "The parents of Otto Warmbier, Fred and Cindy Warmbier, were scheduled to have dinner at the White House with President Trump and U.S. Ambassador to Germany Richard Grenell on Saturday night, CNN reported.

"Warmbier was an American college student who was detained for 17 months in North Korea on charges of espionage. He was returned to the U.S. in a comatose state in 2017 and died not long after. It was not immediately known how Saturday's dinner was organized or if anyone else would attend.

"Grenell is a possible replacement for the national security adviser position after John Bolton's ouster this week."

I did not like Bolton.

Grenell has done well, getting Germany to accept a deported Nazi for example. He has proved to be loyal to the nation and the president. He would be a good choice.

ITEM 3: The Wall Street Journal reported, "Coordinated drone strikes on the heart of the Saudi oil industry forced the kingdom to shut down half its crude production on Saturday, people familiar with the matter said, potentially roiling petroleum prices and demonstrating the power of Iran’s proxies.

"Yemen’s Iranian-aligned Houthi rebels claimed credit for the attack, saying they sent 10 drones to strike at important facilities in Saudi Arabia’s oil-rich Eastern Province. The production shutdown amounts to a loss of about five million barrels a day, the people said, roughly 5% of the world’s daily production of crude oil."

Glenn Reynolds wrote, "Good thing we have frackers."

This is why Democrats want to end fracking.

ITEM 4: Fox News reported, "The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints previously discouraged their members from taking their guns to church, but now a new policy change makes it crystal clear: No lethal weapons allowed.

"The new rule, coming a year after a fatal shooting inside one of its churches in Nevada, has an exception for law enforcement officers as the denomination, commonly referred to as Mormons, grapples with how to deal with gun violence in places of worship."

Why not ban hearts? Heart attacks kill 10 times as many people as firearms.

Meanwhile, the Mormon Wars in the mid-19th century killed American soldiers and plenty of Indians. In April 1853, Mormons looking for horse thieves came upon seven Ute Indians. After determining they were not the horse thieves, the Mormons executed them anyway.

Maybe the Mormons should ban Mormons from their churches instead.

ITEM 5Monica Showalter reported, "Presidential candidate Julian Castro is loathsome.

"According to Nate Silver's outfit, Five Thirty Eight, Castro was the big loser of the third Democratic debate, based on his sneakily age-ist and downright dishonest attack on Joe Biden.

"Castro lost big points on favorability and the willingness of even left-wing voters to vote for him, according to Five Thirty Eight."

Old Joe gets some Bidenfreude. He hasn't been this happy since he almost kissed the daughter of Senator Chris Coons.

Speaking of Coons, the Washington Examiner reported, "Chris Coons to Beto O'Rourke: You are so not helping."

Coons said, "I’m a gun owner. My sons and I have gone skeet shooting and hunting and, frankly, I don’t think having our presidential candidates, like Congressman O’Rourke did, say that we’re going to try and take people’s guns against their will is a wise either policy or political move."

He should take his daughter to the shooting range, and teach her how to ward off creepy old men.

ITEM 7New York Times columnist David Brooks said on television, "We’ve got 800,000 people in the intelligence community, 2 million people in the military, Lord knows how many in the State Department, all of whom are kind of irrelevant right now. Because Donald Trump is sitting there watching CNN, or whatever he’s watching, and making foreign policy. And I think that’s the scary thing."

President Trump is better at policy than any president since Reagan.

Those 800,000 people in the intelligence community missed 9/11.

But then, Brooks thinks President Trump watches CNN, so we know Brooks is dumb.

ITEM 8: President Trump tweeted, "The Taliban has never been hit harder than it is being hit right now. Killing 12 people, including one great American soldier, was not a good idea. There are much better ways to set up a negotiation. The Taliban knows they made a big mistake, and they have no idea how to recover!"

For a fellow who does not know what he is doing, President Trump sure gets a lot done.

ITEM 9: The Washington Examiner reported, "Former ambassador Samantha Power credits her young son with teaching her not to be too proud of the speeches that won her prominence as an impassioned critic of Russian aggression.

"'Did it work, Mommy?' Power’s 7-year-old son, Declan, asked after she described one particularly satisfying United Nations Security Council debate."

The lad asked, "Did Putin leave Crimea?"

The story said, "He had not, as a deflated Power had to acknowledge. In fact, Putin surprised even his own U.N. ambassador by expanding the conflict, according to Power."

Her speech backfired because Putin heard her and realized that was all Obama would do. Talk.

ITEM 10Fox News reported, "A Seattle-area council member is pushing a $1 million proposal that would bus homeless people out of the state as part of a 'family reunification' plan.

"The plan, proposed by King County Councilman Reagan Dunn, would be a one- or two-year pilot program aimed at helping people who have someone in another state willing to take them in but can't afford the cost of getting there."

San Francisco, here they come. Right back where they started from.

ITEM 11: Breitbart News reported, "2,246 Unborn Children Found In Abortionist’s Home."

That's one day's work for Big Abortion. Every day. 365 days a year. Now in its 47th year of legalization.

May The Lord show mercy on us.

ITEM 12: Wayne Dupree reported, "According to the Washington Post, Sen. Mitt Romney announced that he will not endorse Pres. Donald Trump or any presidential candidate in the 2020 race, that includes the primary or general election."

Won without him in 2016.

Donald Trump endorsed Romney in 2012 and 2018. Romney shows his character again.

ITEM 13: Zero Hedge reported, "More than 1.2 million American households moved to above $50,000 in annual income between 2016 and 2018, according to Census Bureau data released on Sept. 10, a sign of a growing middle class."

Mitt Romney must hate this.

ITEM 14:
Burn of the day.

  1. 10- if the people who are allegedly willing to take in a homeless person but can’t afford the costs to bring them home, then how can they afford to support them once they get there? Be truthful Seattle. Don has it right. They are just moving the problem to another city.

  2. Re: #6 Chris Coons - the left's only defense of our 2nd Amendment is "hunting and target shooting"
That is NOT the intention of our 2A. The Right needs to bang home the fact AR15 and every other 'scary' 'military' or 'assault' weapon is a right to defend ourselves from enemies foreign and domestic! And that includes defense against our own government, gangs, thugs, natural disasters to shoot looters etc.

    1. SCOTUS Heller decision made that perfectly clear. The only thing missing is the answer to the question: What part of "shall not be infringed" do you not get?

  3. The militias that helped George Washington in the Revolution against Britain had many weapons they brought from home.

For what it's worth, the second part of the 2nd Amendment has nothing to do with guns, but for the fact that many state militias were not well trained as observed by George Washington. Heck, it took the help of a Prussian, ya know, Germany Russia etc, to whip the Continental Army into an effective fighting force.

Anyway, while the two parts of the 2nd are related, they are distinctly two ideas that can stand on their own.

    1. Sorry, missed typed,

      ... the 1st part of the 2nd Amendment ...

    2. I and my wife are decndants of th e"Overmountain Men" that took their long rifles and shot Ferguson's and the British army's arse off...(Ferguson especially)
My late mother -in-law embroidered a little
rug -with a Kentucky long rife on it.
It hangs below My father-in-law's shadow box- WW2 honors and service records.
Relief of Bastogne Battle of the Bulge,

The left doesn't thing Americans will fight for our rights. The Overmountain men aren't gone...

  4. Item 1: thats $2.78 per in Us Monopoly Money.

Item 9: "... That call? Oh just 59 cruise missles into a military base. How's the shrimp? Good, yes?"

  5. #6. Heller! what is lacking is the conviction to force feral judges to uphold the Constitution.
#7. President Trump watches CNN so he knows what NOT to believe.
#12. What Character? he has less character than Nonny the Ninny.

  6. Item 9: "I'll take 'Things That Never Happened' for $1000, Alex."
