Highlights of the News

Good morning. Donald John Trump is still our president.

ITEM 1: From Corky's Corner Store on Facebook: "To the customer who sent us this postcard, we truly are sorry. Sorry that you wasted your money on that stamp. Sorry you wasted money on the postcard too. Sorry you were confused with the bacon we sell that it made you make such a hateful 'pig' comment. Sorry that because of you we will be purchasing a hundred Trump hats in your honor to sell to our wonderful customers. Have a nice day čśŐ

"***Update -- due to the unexpected popularity of this post, we will definitely be ordering more than a hundred hats, our online store will be active this Friday afternoon 7/26 for all the out of state supporters who want an official Corky's 'Trump Red Hat'!!!...and camo and other various red, white and blue stuff. Thank you so much for turning such a negative, horrible postcard into such a uplifting, Great American positive for all of us. ~Corkys Patriotic Team"

The postcard is here. Language kept me from posting it.

The address is:
Corky's Corner Store
4997 E Main St.
Long Lake, Michigan 48739
They sell bacon, which smells almost as good as Trumpenfreude in the morning, although I detect a whiff of that, too, in the air.

ITEM 2: The Associated Press reported, "The Supreme Court cleared the way Friday for the Trump administration to tap billions of dollars in Pentagon funds to build sections of a border wall with Mexico.

"The court’s five conservative justices gave the administration the greenlight to begin work on four contracts it has awarded using Defense Department money. Funding for the projects had been frozen by lower courts while a lawsuit over the money proceeded. The court’s four liberal justices wouldn’t have allowed construction to start.

"The justices’ decision to lift the freeze on the money allows President Donald Trump to make progress on a major 2016 campaign promise heading into his race for a second term. Trump tweeted after the announcement: 'Wow! Big VICTORY on the Wall. The United States Supreme Court overturns lower court injunction, allows Southern Border Wall to proceed. Big WIN for Border Security and the Rule of Law!'

"The Supreme Court’s action reverses the decision of a trial court, which initially froze the funds in May, and an appeals court, which kept that freeze in place earlier this month. The freeze had prevented the government from tapping approximately $2.5 billion in Defense Department money to replace existing sections of barrier in Arizona, California and New Mexico with more robust fencing."

The unconstitutional abuse of power of district courts must end. House Republicans should consider impeaching the Hawaiian judges who have politicized the judiciary.

Democrats have dropped the standard for impeachment to "not exonerated."

ITEM 3: The Associated Press reported, "U.S. stocks pushed to record heights Friday following strong profit reports from Google's parent company, Twitter and other big corporations.

"Companies are nearly midway through earnings reporting season, and results have generally been better than the dismal expectations that analysts had coming into it. A government report on Friday also showed that U.S. economic growth slowed in the spring, but it was still better than economists expected.

"All the reports are emblematic of an economy that's strengthening but still shadowed by a pile of concerns, which only bolsters investors' expectations for the Federal Reserve to cut interest rates at its meeting next week. It would be the first cut in more than a decade, when the Fed was trying to shock the economy out of the Great Recession."

The best economy in 50 years continues to enrich Americans making millions of people financially independent of our massive federal government. Self-reliance kills socialism dead.

ITEM 4: President Donald John Trump tweeted, "There may or may not be National Security concerns with regard to Google and their relationship with China. If there is a problem, we will find out about it. I sincerely hope there is not!!!"

He also tweeted, "Apple will not be given Tariff waiver, or relief, for Mac Pro parts that are made in China. Make them in the USA, no Tariffs!"

The Donald is going after an increasingly anti-American Big Tech industry.

By the way, I was following the president on Twitter. Somehow -- magically -- I no longer followed him. I fixed that.

Oh and I follow James Woods who was kicked off Twitter. They reinstated him after people complained. He hasn't gone back. That is good.

ITEM 5: Agence France Presse reported, "President Donald Trump on Friday threatened to withdraw recognition of the special developing nation status of China and other relatively rich countries at the World Trade Organization unless changes are made to the body's rules.

"The global trade body uses 'an outdated dichotomy between developed and developing countries that has allowed some WTO members to gain unfair advantages,' Trump said in a statement."

Red China has the second largest economy in the world. It's developed.

ITEM 6: Fox News reported, "A federal judge in Kentucky Friday threw out a defamation lawsuit filed against The Washington Post by Covington Catholic High School student Nicholas Sandmann and his family over the paper's reporting of an incident between the young man and a Native American man this past January in Washington.

The lawsuit, which was filed in February, sought $250 million in damages and accused the Post of practicing 'a modern-day form of McCarthyism' by targeting Sandmann and 'using its vast financial resources to enter the bully pulpit by publishing a series of false and defamatory print and online articles ... to smear a young boy who was in its view an acceptable casualty in their war against the president.'"

Appeal.

The First Amendment does not exist to let Jeff Bezos bully a kid. New York Times vs. Sullivan removed the press from any accountability. It needs to be reined in.

ITEM 7: RT reported on July 11, "Special counsel Robert Mueller’s claim of 'sweeping and systematic' Russian meddling in the 2016 US election just took another body blow, as a federal judge ruled that his indictment of a ‘troll farm’ is not actual proof of it.

"Mueller’s charges against Concord Management & Consulting, the Russian company accused of running a 'troll farm' and 'sowing discord' on US social media in 2016, do not establish a link between that private company and the Russian government, US District Judge Dabney L. Friedrich pointed out.

"Yet the special counsel’s much-publicized final report claims to have 'established' and 'confirmed' Russian government activities based in part on the indictment against Concord, which is a breach of prosecutorial rules, Friedrich said.

"For example, Mueller’s report says that Concord CEO Yevgeny Prigozhin 'is widely reported to have ties to Russian President Vladimir Putin.' That’s an assertion, not evidence."

Yes, the site is RT but the American media is an inferior product unworthy of the special status we have foolishly granted them.

As a reader pointed out in comments, Mueller's testimony on Wednesday is contrary to the judge's order. We shall see if the rule of law applies to the Not Exonerated Mueller.

ITEM 8:

The smeller really was the feller.

ITEM 9: Mike Huckabee wrote, "No One Is Safe from Google’s Dangerous Political Discrimination."

His column said, "Hawaii Rep. Tulsi Gabbard has filed a $50 million lawsuit against Google for allegedly discriminating against her to harm her presidential campaign. She says that after the first Democratic debate, she was the most-searched candidate on Google. But for reasons Google has never been able to explain, the search giant immediately suspended her Google Ads account and kept her offline for hours while people were looking for more info on her."

He also said, "Gabbard’s campaign added that 'if Google can do this to Tulsi, a combat veteran and four-term Congresswoman who is running for the nation’s highest office, Google can do this to any candidate, from any party, running for any office in the United States.'"

First Amendment lawyer Ron Coleman tweeted, "It already does. Tulsi Gabbard just didn't mind until it was done to her."

By the way liberals, you are part of a cult that eventually eats its own.

ITEM 10: ABC reported, "The House Oversight Committee voted on Thursday to authorize subpoenas for business-related personal emails and text messages as part of a wide-ranging investigation into whether senior administration officials broke federal records laws by using private accounts for official purposes.

"Among the top targets of the straight party-line vote - President Donald Trump's daughter Ivanka Trump, son-in-law Jared Kushner and former senior adviser Steve Bannon, among other officials."

This harassment of the opposition is as evil as Obama spying on Donald Trump and his campaign.

ITEM 11:

It was Christmas in July, girls.

Funny how the self-righteous left idolized a person who turned out to be a doddering old fool who cannot admit he exonerated President Donald John Trump.

ITEM 12: Rep. Rashida Tlaib, D-Palestine, said, "The right to boycott is deeply rooted in the fabric of our country. Americans boycotted Nazi Germany in response to dehumanization, imprisonment, and genocide of Jewish people."

The United States did not boycott Germany. In fact, it restricted the acceptance of Jewish refugees, and FDR turned away the St. Louis ship of Jewish refugees.

Tlaib continues her party's tradition of anti-Semitism.

ITEM 13: Fox News reported, "This is CNN? A photo editor for the struggling network resigned on Thursday night after vile, anti-Semitic statements that he tweeted prior to landing a gig at CNN resurfaced.

"The now-former CNN employee, identified as Mohammed Elshamy, referred to victims killed in a terror attack as 'Jewish pigs' on at least one occasion that was unearthed by political strategist Arthur Schwartz."

CNN, the Cowardly Nazi Network.

ITEM 14: Breitbart News reported, "Another CNN personality who was presenting on the CNN Arabic network as recently as last week appears to have expressed a series of anti-Semitic sentiments on Twitter, even praising Hitler. This follows the recent resignation of a CNN editor, whose past antisemitic statements surfaced Thursday afternoon.

"Kareem Farid heads up a digital tech show on CNN Arabic. He began in January 2019, according to his LinkedIn profile. He is also listed as the 'Lead of Storytelling and Video Production at APCO Worldwide.'

"On Friday, tweets surfaced, showing Farid writing, “I love you Hitler” and commending the Nazi dictator for 'his determination to reach his goal.'"

Farid said the tweets were taken out of context.

I would ask if CNN vetted its new hires, but I know it does. This is what it permits, as long as no one makes a fuss about it later.

ITEM 15: The Wall Street Journal reported, "Federal prosecutors in Manhattan have subpoenaed Jeffrey Epstein’s longtime personal pilots, according to people familiar with the matter, as investigators seek to question the financier’s employees in the wake of his indictment on sex-trafficking charges.

"The grand jury subpoenas were served on the pilots earlier this month after Mr. Epstein’s arrest on July 6, some of the people said. Mr. Epstein was arrested at Teterboro Airport in New Jersey after he had returned from Paris on a private jet."

Meanwhile, CNN reported, "Jeffrey Epstein was found in his Manhattan jail cell with marks on his neck this week, a law enforcement source and a source familiar with the incident said Thursday.

"It is not clear to jail officials if the injuries, incurred Tuesday, were self-inflicted or the result of an assault, the law enforcement source said.

"While Epstein told authorities he was beaten up and called a child predator, the sources said, he has been placed on suicide watch. His injuries were not serious, they said."

Suicide watch? I would put him on Arkancide watch.

ITEM 16:

She must have discovered she has another brother.

ITEM 17: Sarah Sanders tweeted, "Now that the Russia collusion hoax has been entirely discredited, Attorney General Bill Barr is doing what Mueller and his team of partisan Democrats refused to do: Investigate the real scandal of the Obama administration spying on the Trump campaign."

No more special counsels.

None.

ITEM 18: Nicholas Bogel-Burroughs of the New York Times reported, "These Are the 5 Men the Federal Government Plans to Execute."

I don't care about them. I want to know about the 13 people they executed.

(Note: Pay sites are not linked except through a third party.)

ITEM 19The Daily Caller reported, "California Rep. Ted Lieu said Thursday he believes that 'somebody got to' Robert Mueller to force the former special counsel to correct his testimony about his obstruction investigation of President Donald Trump.

"Lieu, a Democrat, offered up the unfounded conspiracy theory in an interview on CNN when asked about an exchange he had Wednesday with Mueller during a House Judiciary Committee hearing."

Yes. The somebody who got to Mueller is known as Father Time.

ITEM 20: Fox News reported, "Ex-MSNBC host Krystal Ball blasted her former network as 'not journalism' and singled out The Rachel Maddow Show on Thursday for floating wild 'Russian conspiracy theories' that blew up during former Special Counsel Robert Mueller's testimony.

"Mueller's testimony before two House committees Wednesday was largely considered a disaster for Democrats and opponents of President Trump despite MSNBC pushing the collusion narrative. Ball -- who now hosts The Hill newspaper's 'Rising' --  said on her show she did not mean anything personal when she asked, 'Just how much damage has MSNBC, in particular, done to the left?'"

Answer: Not enough.

ITEM 21: Fox News reported, "Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., expressed support for the 'decolonization process' of Puerto Rico following the announced resignation of its embattled governor, Ricardo Rossell├│.

"In an Instagram livestream on Thursday night, Ocasio-Cortez took questions from her followers. The first asked how she felt about what's happening in Puerto Rico.

"'First of all, I am so incredibly proud of everyone in Puerto Rico right now demanding accountability from their government,' Ocasio-Cortez began. 'They were so relentlessly creative in their protest that they were able to get the governor to finally resign as well as some of his cabinet members.'"

I agree. Cut them loose. Grant them independence and stop bailing the ingrates out whenever a hurricane hits.

  5. #2 "The unconstitutional abuse of power of district courts must end." This ruling could have been used to slap the district courts down. They have "assumed" the ability to issue nationwide injunctions, yet supposedly the next higher courts, the appeals courts, only have regional jurisdiction. My anger is really directed at the GOP who could have limited the district courts jurisdiction during their 2 years of total government control and fulfill their campaign promises. "Stab in the Back" McCain, with the assistance of the RINOs, screwed up fixing the healthcare laws which gave the Democrats a "promise not met" cry to allow the House to go Democratic. Disgusting.

  6. 21) The first thing I noticed about videos of Puerto Rico after the hurricane was that there seemed to be NO one starting to cleanup by helping neighbors. No groups of people doing what we see in TX and other states after disasters. What I saw was people so reliant on government that they would wait for government to show up to do whatever is needed for them. What socialism does to a culture was very evident. 42% of Puerto Rico's people receive government support under their form of welfare. https://checkyourfact.com/2019/03/30/fact-check-43-percent-puerto-rico-food-stamps/

    1. 1st thing I noticed was San Juan mayor complaining about no supplies while standing on a huge loading dock covered with shrink wrapped pallets of supplies.

so I checked. with plenty of notice of hurricane coming, they did not put their national guard on alert. they also supported a Teamster strike. between the two they guaranteed no supplies would get out while they posed postured and preened for the cameras.

      democracy is served.

  7. A brief add. We live in a very nice community and there isn't a person here who can't afford outside lawn care if they want it. 3 years ago, we had a hurricane pass by. 2 days after, groups were cleaning up the common areas and the property of some neighbors who were away for the summer. There were a husband and wife working who both had to be in their mid-80s. Neither could lift more than 2 or 3 pounds of debris but both worked for at least 2 hours picking up what they could and making a pile near the street. Contrast that with PR or New Orleans where many people did nothing but sit back and complain.

    1. Some neighborhoods are clean and others are not with or without hurricanes.
It doesn't cost anything to pick up trash instead of allowing it to accumulate and accumulate. But, in some neighborhoods it never gets done.

  8. and commending the Nazi dictator

Its really incredible how successful the media has been suppressing the facts of history. Hitler's program for the Jews came from key PROGRESSIVE eugenicists in America who were sterilizing black women a century ago.

In fact in the 1927 Buck v Bell court case Justice Holmes wrote that 3 generations of imbeciles were enough. The court said such sterilization was legal.

Eugenics being the junk science of cleansing some races. It was made up by Darwin's cousin Francis Galton

He was a pioneer in eugenics, coining the term itself[3] and the phrase "nature versus nurture".[4] His book Hereditary Genius (1869) was the first social scientific attempt to study genius and greatness

So the Progressive Era in America was even more racist than the South ever was.

The media has buried these key facts from history that shows just who gave Hitler such a satanic idea. The liberal progressives did.

Then somehow the media was able to label fascism as RIGHT wing, when its clear they were national socialists which makes them LEFT wing.

I suppose its the mistake of trusting in government schools which began around 1840. Prior to that the churches and private schools and tutors were in charge of education.

You know all Indians are falling down drunks, etc. She passed on just last year, but died with a Husband two adopted kids and a orchard/apple processing operation in Washington state... She did get some compensation from the Government...
      Not enough.

    2. Eugenics is a set of beliefs and practices that aim to improve the genetic quality of a human population by excluding (through a variety of morally criticized means) certain genetic groups judged to be inferior, and promoting other genetic groups judged to be superior

Another key fact of hidden history is the dropped sub-title of On the Origin of Species.

On the Origin of Species (or, more completely, On the Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection, or the Preservation of Favoured Races in the Struggle for Life

Oops! So we see evolution, the kissing cousin of eugenics, was racist from inception.

This fact has almost been erased from history.

  9. the unfounded conspiracy theory

This entire affair is a conspiracy theory. They simply used the term 'collusion' to avoid using the word conspiracy.

They are pretty good at crafting narratives that serve their agenda. Because most Americans are too busy to discover the facts or just don't really care.

  17. Item 6: Äpparently Bezos is prepared to lose 72 billion because of a fling with a hottie, but will not pay anything to maintain the credibility of his Washington Post. The Judge declared that its so-called news is only opinions. The Washington Post saw nothing wrong when Julian Assange was arrested, as he was not a real reporter who took pains to verify the facts. Does the Washington Post still have Press credentials?
PS: If I had 72 billion, I would pay it to KEEP my wife.

Item 7: "the special counsel’s much-publicized final report claims to have 'established' and 'confirmed'", then stated an example, and went on "That’s an assertion, not evidence."
This pretty much summarized the entire Mueller Report. No pity for him. He did much damage, trashing lawyer-client privilege, the Fourth Ammendment and encourageing further actions by the Democtats. He in his testimony promptly responded to Democrats and verified all the unfounded accusations in the Report, yet when questioned by Republicans could not hear, let alone address, the questions. He is not senile. He is evil.
