Highlights of the News

Good morning. These are my views on the news today.

ITEM 1: A French newspaper reported, "On Monday evening, the French Senate approved the government's Notre-Dame restoration bill -- but added a clause that it must be restored to the state it was before the blaze, striking a blow to the government which had launched an international architecture competition to debate ideas on the restoration."

Reading that made my day.

Sunday's vote against globalization seems to have knocked some sense into the politicians. There is nothing secular about the Notre-Dame cathedral. It may attract tourists, but it is not a tourist attraction. It may symbolize Paris to some, but it is not a symbol. Notre Dame is a House of Worship.

As for taxpayer funding, in America that would never fly. But France is not America. Let the French be French.

ITEM 2: Thomas Lifson reported, "Hold on to your hats.  At last, we are on the verge of getting to the bottom of the weaponization of the nation's top law enforcement and spy agencies to spy on political opponents, and it is far bigger than obtaining bogus FISA Court warrants to spy on Carter Page.  Barack Obama's minions have been spying on his political opponents since before his 2012 re-election, and the entire Russiagate hoax was an effort to cover up that ongoing spying."

He based his report on a radio interview of former federal prosecutor Joe DiGenova who has a good track record.

Now I wrote about the Mueller investigation covering up Obama's spying in 2017 when I wrote "Fake News Follies of 2017."

Their cover story did not hang together with its nonsense about pissing prostitutes.

There was also the casual way Obama henchwoman Susan Rice broke the law to read transcripts of Americans spied upon in the name of national defense.

But I had no proof. DiGenova believes two years later the proof will be forthcoming.

I choose to believe him.

ITEM 3: Lifson also reported, "Joe DiGenova dropped one other bombshell that remains to be explored: that he believes that the NSA database contains the 30,000 emails that Hillary Clinton deleted from her server, and that the two U.S. attorneys tasked with investigating the scandals will access those emails in the course of their investigations. Recall that U.S. attorney for Utah John Huber is investigating the handling of the dropped prosecution of her violations of national security law with her home-brew server and possible crimes related to the Clinton Foundation, including, presumably, the Uranium One acquisition of U.S. uranium reserves by Russian interests and the massive donations to the Clinton Foundation."

I thought for a long time that Hillary set it up that way to evade FOIA requests.

But now we see that she set up a private computer system to disseminate State Secrets to those who paid for them with donations to her Fake Charity.

Someone at NSA apparently preserved the record. Many of the patriots in this drama will be known only to God and Bill Barr.

ITEM 4: The New York Times reported, "President Trump’s trade war with China has prompted a broad rethinking of how the American and Chinese economies have become so intertwined, leading some manufacturers to trim supply chains in China and the American authorities to start cutting off access to crucial technology for Chinese companies like Huawei.

"Now another important area is getting a close look: financial markets.

"Some trade experts and others urging the Trump administration to keep a hawkish stance are discussing whether the White House should curb China’s access to Wall Street. Chinese companies have raised tens of billions of dollars through American financial markets in recent years.

"The so-called decoupling is part of a broader effort by trade hawks to weaken the economic relationship between the two countries, which they argue has grown too close."

Until Red China opens its markets to America, it should be banned from our markets.

But Chairman Xi bought off the politicians including Obama's vice president and his secretaries of State. We are in a death match with communism that we are ill-prepared for.

ITEM 5: Fox News reported, "The University of North Carolina at Charlotte student who tackled a gunman last month has posthumously been awarded two of the military's highest honors.

"Riley Howell, a 21-year-old Army ROTC cadet, earned a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star for his actions April 30 when a gunman opened fire in his classroom. Howell and 19-year-old Ellis Parlier were killed in the attack."

His family lost a son and a brother. The nation lost a hero.

ITEM 6: reported, "An anti-gun measure advanced by Maryland’s Democrat-controlled state legislature was rebuffed by Republican Gov. Larry Hogan on Friday.

"The emergency bill, HB 1343/SB 1000, aimed to scrap the state Department of Public Safety’s Handgun Permit Review Board, an organization that weighed appeals for those denied a handgun carry permit. The proposal, which passed the state House 87-47 and the Senate 30-16, was opposed by both gun rights groups and state Republicans, who argued the Board is an important check in Maryland’s gun laws and disbanding it would not reduce crime.

"Last week, Hogan agreed. 'When given an opportunity this year to adopt tougher sentences for repeat violent gun offenders, the legislature refused to act. However, abolishing the Handgun Permit Review Board is not a solution to violent crime problems,' said Hogan in his veto statement. 'It is just another in a long series of politically-motivated and ill-conceived power grabs.'"

Gun control is about control, not guns. Tougher sentences for gun law criminals makes more sense than hassling innocent people who want to exercise a God-given right.

ITEM 7: Merkel told CNN, "There is to this day not a single Synagogue not a single daycare center for Jewish children, not a single school for Jewish children that does not need to be guarded by German policemen."

When I was stationed in Germany 40+ years ago, I thought uber alles doesn't live here anymore.

It returned.

ITEM 8: CNN reported, "The man who predicted Trump's victory says Democrats may have to impeach him to have a chance in 2020."

The man, Allan Lichtman, said, "Democrats are fundamentally wrong about the politics of impeachment and their prospects for victory in 2020. An impeachment and subsequent trial would cost the president a crucial fourth key -- the scandal key -- just as it cost Democrats that key in 2000. The indictment and trial would also expose him to dropping another key by encouraging a serious challenge to his re-nomination. Other potential negative keys include the emergence of a charismatic Democratic challenger, a significant third-party challenge, a foreign policy disaster, or an election-year recession. Without impeachment, however, Democratic prospects are grim."

However, Republicans may disagree. They lost a midterm in the midst of impeaching Clinton. And the Democrat candidate in 2000, Al Gore, was not part of that scandal.

It could just as easily be that the race was close because impeachment and failing to remove a president tainted Republicans.

Removing Nixon from office in 1974 (he resigned) did help Democrats regain the White House in 1976. It seems to me that impeachment only helps politically if it leads to the removal or resignation of the president. Otherwise, it is a losing proposition and the electorate hates losers.

ITEM 9: Daily Caller reported, "President Donald Trump’s re-election campaign may create a profile on what is being called the conservative version of Twitter, Politico reported Tuesday, citing an anonymous source inside the president’s campaign.

"'It’s something he’s aware of and is checking out,' a senior Trump campaign official told Politico, referring to the president’s social media manager, Brad Parscale. 'We don’t currently have a plan to make a big move to the platform.' The official was responding to questions about Parler, a fledgling social media network created in 2018 that caters to conservatives."

I joined. Follow me.

But if it turns into another Gab, I am out.

Twitter will in due time fall as all social media formats do online. Facebook too. They built theirs on pixels, not rock.

ITEM 10: Jim Geraghty reported, "Hailed and renowned photographer Annie Leibovitz took pictures of Chelsea Manning for Vogue in September 2017. Manning is back in jail after refusing to testify before a grand jury about Julian Assange.

"Leibovitz photographed Kirsten Gillibrand for Vogue in November 2017. Her presidential campaign has stumbled out of the gate and Gillibrand is at the tail end of a large pack of candidates; earlier this month the New York Times wrote that her campaign is 'struggling.'

"Leibovitz photographed lawyer Michael Avenatti for Vogue, October 2018. Avenatti now faces charges of wire fraud, bank fraud, embezzlement, 36 additional financial-crime charges, including stealing money from clients.

"Leibovitz photographed Beto O’Rourke for Vanity Fair in February 2019. His presidential campaign also stumbled out of the gate, and he’s now considered such a second or third-tier candidate that no one’s looking for opposition research on him anymore.

"Sports fans know about Sports Illustrated cover jinx, and NFL fans cringe when their favorite player is on the cover of that year’s hot video game version of the sport, fearing the 'Madden Curse.' In light of recent events, if you’ve got big political ambitions, maybe you shouldn’t let Annie Leibovitz take your picture."

It is not her. It is their narcissism that does them in. They think they made it big time. They do not realize they are the flavor of the month.

By the way, I kept my mouth shut on Chelsea Manning's release. I had suspected President Trump had bigger plans for him. Her. Whatever.

ITEM 11: Jimmy the Weasel wrote in the Washington Post, "It is tempting for normal people to ignore our president when he starts ranting about treason and corruption at the FBI. But we shouldn’t, because millions of good people believe what a president of the United States says.

"In normal times, that’s healthy. But not now, when the president is a liar who doesn’t care what damage he does to vital institutions. We must call out his lies that the FBI was corrupt and committed treason, that we spied on the Trump campaign, and tried to defeat Donald Trump."

Comey and the Post continue to defend the most corrupt president in American history. Obama's spying on political opponents damaged the government.

The remedy is a smaller FBI and men in orange jumpsuits doing time. Comey needs to shut up and lawyer up. His obstruction of justice in the Hillary email scandal is his Achilles heel. I don't think he realizes that. He is trapped because you cannot rat out the Clintons. No one does for fear of Arkancide.

  1. Funny how access to cheap things made with communist slave labor is more important to Americans than their own freedom. Remember how the communists in congress and WH told us that China entering the WTO would topple communism? HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA

    1. Also funny how importing cheap labor means more to the Chamber of Commerce and the Koch-s than freedom for Americans. This country and world have gone bass-ackwards.

    2. You have the wrong market. Cheap goods made by slave labor is more important than national security to a handful of globalist elites.

If you learned nothing these past 3 years, you should have learned that normal working people EVERYWHERE put national security ahead of cheap tee shirts and shoes.

  2. "The FBI doesn't spy..." sayeth Weasel the boy wonder.

Here is a body language expert 'investigating' the Weasel

And there is a terrific interview of George Pappadopoulas by Mark Steyn that is quite revealing the way the spies tried to set him up.

  3. Apparently, the institutions they speak of are very precarious and can easily be damaged by discouraging words.

Trump uses brash words. The response is well, the FBI didn't commit treason as defined in the constitution. The federal government doesn't spy, it surveils and monitors. Joe Biden isn't sleepy, he's got a lot of energy for his age.

It's good fun. Especially since the nags ruined comedy

  4. Things are changing. Soon people will fear prison more than the Clintons. When that happens, watch out!!

  5. Regarding item 7 - whoever smelt it dealt it. Frau Markell is mostly responsible for this.

  6. Re Parler. It requires my email. I don't have to share my email or have a twitter account to read twitter posts. If I have to sign up to read your posts, I will be bye-bye.

    1. You can read my posts anytime, no email required.
      Comment anonymously.
Ad block, too. I don't care.

  7. Anyone who wants to understand the trade war China has been waging against the US for 25 years, the risks and what Trump is doing to stop them would do well to listen to Kyle Bass and Steve Bannon's interview

At they say, this is major inflection point in world and trade history and Trump is the only one doing anything for the good guys (which includes folks everywhere who work to feed their families).

  8. Re: Jimmy the Weasel's comment look no further than the left's anointed one Saul Alinsky: “Look in the mirror. Whatever you see, whatever you’ve done, blame it on the other guy.”

  9. "Mission: Impeachable!" starring Nomar Tariff as "Justin Amash", International Man of Misery

    "...Secret Aaasian Man!"

    (Scene: Somewhere in Dearbornistan…)

“This is Red Dragon to Yankee Panda, Red Dragon to Yankee Panda, come in, Agent Amash.

Your mission, Justin, which you chose to accept years ago, is this:

Party Headquarters wishes you to implement Operation: Orange Peach Mint. Repeat, implement Operation: Orange Peach Mint at once if you ever want to import another “Michigan Tool” to Detroit. And this time, try to make it look like principled opposition instead of what it really i$.

Be sure to claim that your opinions are Made In the USA...just like you claimed about your Chinese products!

As always, should you or any of your Unpayable Tariff Team be caught or bought, the Party Secretary will disavow any knowledge. This unchallenged and unfair advantage we have purchased from American lawmakers for the last 30 years will Orange-destruct in five seconds. Good luck, Mr. Phillips-Head. This is Red Dragon, out.”

    1. "Mission: Impeachable" sounds more like a documentary than a fictional drama, but I like it!

  10. Re: Notre Dame, churches in France are the property of the sate, have since the tumbles rolled in 1789 with the status clarified by law in 1905.

  11. I have a problem with one point that Thomas Lifson reported in your ITEM 2, "the entire Russiagate hoax was an effort to cover up that ongoing spying." and hope you or your readers can explain this to me. I've seen others making the point, that after the election a cover-up was necessary. The cover-up is what did them in, just like Watergate. After the 2016 election the entire spying or surveillance if you prefer should have been shut down. It would never have come up. All documentation could have been destroyed in the months leading to the inauguration. The Democrats RINOs had a very strong hand. Congress would never have initiated an investigation, and could concentrate, together with the Judges, on stopping Trump from accomplishing much of anything. The President would not have been forced to counter-attack, and the whole matter, including the DOG internal investigation, might have been dropped. Key players were in place to sabotage, in guise of helping the new Administration get its feet wet. They had total control of the narrative through the Media.

The risk they were incurring should have stopped them in their tracks. Pettiness, arrogance and a total lack of understanding of Donald J Trump, which could have been gotten if they had read a New York Times article dating back to the 1980s, lead them to attempt what can only be described as a 'coup.' Comey and Yates openly defying the new boss guaranteed their replacement. The Media bias promulgating petty and even untrue stories about the President 24/7 only resulted in the appellation 'fake news,' and even turned much of their audience off. Now this has to play out, and all the cards are 'trump' cards.

Why was it necessary "to cover up that ongoing spying."

  12. These posts remind me of the 'good vs evil' posts of days gone by.
