Highlights of the News

Dorothy Fuldheim was the first woman TV news anchor. I grew up watching her in Cleveland. She would read the news and then give her insights. She called her show "Highlights of the News."

That was what I wanted to do with this blog but the pieces often run long. (As if I have no control over that.)

Let me begin the day with several short observations.

ITEM 1: Europe held European Parliament elections. Overwhelmingly, nationalist parties won. Nigel Farage's Brexit Party will have the most seats in Brussels.

The people of Austria, England, France, Italy, et cetera, voted against being Europeans. They would rather be Austrian, English, French, Italian, et cetera, than live in a Eutopian world controlled by Eurocrats.

Will their leaders listen? So far they haven't.

ITEM 2: NBC News reported, "Sanders: Trump and Kim Jong Un agree on assessment of Biden."

ABC News reported, "Donald Trump defends dictator Kim Jong Un, bashes Joe Biden from Japan."

The Los Angeles Times reported, "Trump, in Japan, sides with Kim Jong Un in war of insults with Joe Biden."

Axios reported, "Sarah Sanders defends Trump siding with Kim Jong-un on Joe Biden."

This is a reminder that the media is run by crazy people who believe they have the power to bring President Donald John Trump down with lies.

Look for North Korean collusion to replace Russian collusion with the women peeing in the bed Chairman Xi slept in.

ITEM 3: The Hill reported, "Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) said on Sunday that statements by FBI agents investigating President Trump sounded 'an awful lot like a coup, and it could well be treason.'"

Last week, the media made a big deal about Justin Amash -- a Never Trumper in Congress -- calling for impeachment. They also dragged out Tim Coleman, who left Congress in 1994 (a quarter-century ago). He called for the same thing.

Now a responsible Republican saying, "We had people that are at the highest levels of our law enforcement ... saying that they were going to stop a duly elected president of the United States. That sounds an awful lot like a coup and it could well be treason."

She will get scant notice.

If she does, it will be entirely negative because the media serves the Deep State, which is the source for its news.

ITEM 4: The Daily Mail reported, "Secret FBI tapes that accuse Martin Luther King Jr. of having extramarital affairs with '40 to 45 women' and even claim he 'looked on and laughed' as a pastor friend raped a parishioner exist, an author has claimed."

Me Too-ers will demand we rename all those MLK Boulevards. Just remember, all statues eventually are torn down because all men are sinners.

ITEM 5: The Associated Press reported, "The North Carolina Senate recently passed legislation loosening the requirements to expunge a criminal record. Offenders could wipe out multiple nonviolent misdemeanor or low level felony convictions, regardless of age, and the bill expands expunctions for misdemeanors and minor felonies committed by 16- and 17-year olds. Currently, only nonviolent, first-time convictions qualify."

That will help them restore their Second Amendment rights.

ITEM 6: Fox News reported, "Cambridge removes 'offensive' Massachusetts flag from City Hall as calls grow to replace it."

The objection is it depicts an Indian making peace.

This is not political correctness. This is a continual effort by Marxists to destroy the country from within by making the normal abnormal, and the abnormal normal.

I mean we now must accept men using the girls locker room.

ITEM 7: The Clarion Ledger reported, "U.S. District Judge Carlton Reeves on Friday issued a strongly worded preliminary injunction blocking Mississippi's 'heartbeat' abortion law, that would have banned abortions as early as six weeks into a pregnancy, when a fetal heartbeat is detected."

The Washington Examiner reported, "A federal judge who partially blocked President Trump’s plans to build a border wall along the United States-Mexico border previously donated almost $30,000 to former President Obama, other Democrats, and a political action committee."

These are Obama judges and they are abominations.

But we now have 42 Trump circuit judges who can overturn the lower-court Obama judges. Mitch McConnell saved the Republic by halting Obama's appointments in 2015 and 2016.

ITEM 8: The Associated Press reported, "Staff at a U.S. Air Force base in Florida had to bring in a front-end loader to remove an alligator that was lounging on a runway. The Tampa Bay Times reports that the large reptile was spotted Tuesday morning on a MacDill Air Force Base flight line."

Increasingly, wild animals are encroaching on the space of man. MacDill has been there 62 years.

Overpopulation is now a problem as big as extinction once was. Thinning the herd by hunting makes sense.

And I would include polar bears on the list. We have gone from 5,000 polar bears in the 1950s to 40,000 today. That is too many. They are invading towns in Canada. We are stewards of this planet. That means hunting as well as conservation.

ITEM 9: The New York Post reported, "President Donald Trump presented a special Trump trophy to the winner of a sumo tournament in Tokyo on Sunday as he got a taste of one of Japan’s most treasured cultural institutions. The honor given to Trump was part of a charm offensive Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe continued Sunday as he courted the president with three things close to his heart: wrestling matches, cheeseburgers and golf. Call it sumo diplomacy."

Abe is a highly skilled politician who has befriended Presidents Bush, Obama, and now Donald Trump. We have to respect that. Ours is a symbiotic relationship that the USA must bear in mind is between equals.

ITEM 10: The Washington Examiner reported, "President Trump announced Sunday the annual Rolling Thunder veterans gathering would go on past this year, which was expected to be its last ride.

"Since 1988, veterans and supporters have ridden motorcycles through Washington to show support and solidarity for prisoners of war and those missing in action. Organizers said there have been financial and logistical reasons for pulling the plug on the event after this year. But Trump tweeted Sunday that they would be returning."

They served the nation well. First in Vietnam, then as annual reminders of the cost of war.

ITEM 11: Fox News reported, "Soldier seen placing flag at Tomb of Unknown Soldier during torrential rain."

Duty calls.

We are not worthy of such men. I refer to the men inside the tomb and the ones guarding it.

ITEM 12: BBC reported, "The German government's anti-Semitism commissioner has urged Jews to avoid wearing skullcaps in public.

"Felix Klein warned Jews against donning the kippa in parts of the country following a rise in anti-Semitism. He said his opinion on the matter had 'changed compared with what it used to be.'"

We said never again.

Who were we kidding?

Germany is headed toward a totalitarian state because its leaders -- Merkel in particular -- are weak and puny midgets who sold their country out to globalism. Muslims have overrun the country, bringing with them the anti-Semitism that every tyrant brings.

ITEM 13: Hot Air reported, "Happy Memorial Day: NC Town Says Store’s US Flag Is Just Too Big."

The store is Camping World.

Even though its CEO told Trump supporters they are not welcome, I defend them,

I offer this constitutional amendment: "Congress shall make no law abridging the size of an American flag."

ITEM 14:
No bow.

ITEM 15: Green Bay Packers QB Bart Starr, 85, died.

I don't do many celebrity death posts, but he was a 17th round draft pick who became a Hall of Famer. How can you not comment on such grit?

RIP.

Should be "than" instead of "then". I hate being a grammar Nazi, but when you use "then" it shows us what is actually happening. Those people continue to vote to keep their national identities and, then have to go on living in an absolutist tyranny when their governments ignore the outcomes of their votes. This did not start with Brexit. Remember when the French, Dutch and Irish rejected Valery Giscard d'Estang's EU constitution in ratification plebiscites? Then they switched gears and started calling everything a treaty so the big shots wouldn't have to be embarrassed by their plebian voters? The whole thing has been a fraud perpetrated on the average Joe from the get go. That's globalism in a nutshell.

  3. In the interest of improving clarity, I believe the last paragraph of item 7 should have read:

    “Mitch McConnell saved the Republic...”

I know - it’s hard to believe even now, but there it is.

Minor edits aside, this is a great post.

Thanks for all you do here. I count myself lucky to have found your blog, and recommend it to others regularly.

  4. Yowsah, Big D. That’s a week of material right there. It can be overwhelming. What I’m trying to do right now is:

    - Ask yourself if you have control over it. (You don’t.)
    - So, turn it over to the Lord.

Working pretty well so far! God bless our fallen heroes, and God bless the United States of America.

  10. If anyone thinks that black people will allow MLK's name to be removed from anywhere I beg to differ. Not. A. Chance.

  11. I have to agree - no way will MLK be expunged or removed. "stricken from every book and tablet Stricken from every pylon and obelisk." This only happens to white men. And Moses...

  12. I also grew up in Cleveland (1955 until 1973) and your reference to Dorothy Fuldheim was a blast from the past. I too remember watching her news telecasts and she was both professional and memorable in her persona. Thanks for the renewed memory.

  13. What an absolute ripper of a column!

In Item 2, you said "the media is run by crazy people who believe they have the power to bring President Donald John Trump down with lies." That's it exactly!

That entire Item is based on one lie, from a liar named Ian Bremmer at Time Magazine; he tweeted “President Trump in Tokyo: ‘Kim Jong Un is smarter and would make a better President than Sleepy Joe Biden,'”

He later deleted the tweet, laid low, finally came out from under his rock to say, "“My tweet yesterday about Trump preferring Kim Jong Un to Biden as President was meant in jest. The President correctly quoted me as saying it was a ‘completely ludicrous’ statement. I should have been clearer. My apologies,” he wrote on Twitter."

That gave all the other FakeNews outlets plenty of time to base entire columns on this lie, so now there'll be a lot of idiots (you reading, Nony?) who will embellish and promote this made-up story as if it were true, which it never ever was.

  14. alligators are proof against intelligent design.
if there was intelligent design, one could grab a gator by the tail, and it would scamper off to grow a new one and you would be left holding 400 pounds of delicious meat for bbq.
that is demonstrably not the case.
    thusly I refute intelligent design.
