Yo, Michelle, the president ain't your daddy

Michelle Obama went overseas to denounce President Donald John Trump because she is a privileged person of Ivy League education for whom the rule that politics ends at the water's edge does not apply.

Or so she thinks.

In London, she said of America: "We come from a broken family, we are a little unsettled. Sometimes you spend the weekend with divorced dad. That feels like fun but then you get sick. That is what America is going through. We are living with divorced dad."

I have no idea what she meant, and I doubt she thought it through.

But I suppose she meant it as a dig at the twice-divorced billionaire president, but looking at the way his adult children turned out, our president and his exes did OK.

Compared to her pot-smoking eldest daughter, a reasonable person would conclude that Ivana Trump, Marla Maples, and The Donald did an excellent job. He put Ivanka, Donald Jr., and Eric to work in his empire early. Tiffany is finishing up law school.

Perhaps Michelle should have consulted her husband, whose parents divorced when he was two and he saw his father for the only time when he was ten. I had the same experience except I was 47 and my father was nearing death.

Then again my Uncle Benny got custody of his three children back in the 1960s. Each family is different. All divorced dads are not criminals, and all single moms are not saints.

But the idea that the president of the United States is the Great White Father in Washington is pap for the weak minded.

Using her analogy, I suppose her husband in his momjeans was America's Mommy. Certainly his push for reliance on government for basic needs -- food, shelter and health care -- would support that idea.

But we do not want to live in his basement, OK?

The idea that America is in turmoil because of President Trump is lazy and inaccurate.

The problem is that Michelle and her ilk refuse to accept him as their president. The coo-coo notion that Russia is political thumb-sucking by a privileged class who believe they should rule over we the children, as they view us.

Pat Nixon and Betty Ford never dissed Jimmy Carter. Likewise, Nancy Reagan and Barbara Bush had better things to do than dump on Bill Clinton. (President Trump has defended Mrs. Bush's criticism of him because he did diss both her sons.)

Michelle should have followed their example because she made herself look ignorant.

  1. Suddenly we have a father figure in the House. The White House, not Nancy P Lousy's show.

  2. I don't ever recall her showing class while her husband was president. Did she have any issue beside school lunches? I once did "lunch duty" and watched as every single kid dumped their uneaten salad in the trash before heading out of the cafeteria.

  4. Of the two women Mr Himself consulted to find out if he should do number one or number throughout every day and night, M was the least helpful. This is why the other still lives under the same roof, for behaivior reinforcement. Zero is not held in high regard in the UK but because the Brits like others to spend money defending them, and they have in addition ruined themselves with uncontrolled Islamic immigration to which he was publicly opposed, DT is seen as a positive influence by only the hardy few. The Guardian and Reuters also spent 2 years trying to ravage his bona fides among the population at large, claiming he was a double agent for Putin, and were partly successful. If Brexit happens and Trump helps the Brits in some substantial way, Zero and his concubine will be bleachbited from memory.

    2. In Slavic languages, there are many diminutives, and even close friends use them. I have trouble calling my wife anything but Eva, tho others use Evka, Evichka, Evenka.

While mother Ivana will call her daughter Ivanka, the husband might call his wife Ivanka, or his daughter, Ivanka.

After divorce, The Donald probably doesn't call his ex-wife Ivanka very often, but they seem to have a reasonably supportive post-divorce relation. I haven't followed his nicknames, if any, for wives and kids.

  7. Big D: Completely off topic, but...is Sarah Mimms bothering you? If so, I apologize. I broke her heart at CPAC 2016. Gave her some pro-Trump quotes and told her she looked like Diane Keaton. Then, I contact her post-election to do a little friendly ribbing and she blocks me, claiming harassment! I was stunned and shocked but bear full responsibility for my actions. Sarah is at least a sleeve short of a dozen ProV’s, but I’m sorry you got the abuse.

  10. She's just an evil, disillusioned hater projecting all of her baggage on America as a whole. The left's been projecting their own pathologies, hatreds, fears, prejudices and unhappiness on the US since not being able to accept that a commie shot Kennedy.(with or without the help of the CIA) Maybe she's just jealous that she will never have the beauty, style, grace, intelligence and quiet dignity of our current FLOTUS.
