The Poles want an American military base in their country as a hedge against a Russian invasion. Obama's collusion with Russia -- I'll have more flexibility after the election -- made that idea impossible.
Then we decided to Make America Great Again by electing Donald John Trump president.
Poland's president Andrzej Duda has pushed the idea ever since.
Last September, he visited the White House and told reporters, “I was smiling when talking to Mr. President, I said that I would very much like to ask to set up a permanent American base in Poland, which we would call ‘Fort Trump.’ I firmly believe this is possible. I am convinced that such a decision lies in the Polish interest and in the interest of the United States.”
Seven months later, Fort Trump is in play.
Bloomberg reported, "Poland is nearing a deal with the U.S. to establish an American military base in the former Communist bloc country, according to people familiar with the matter -- an outpost the Poles see as a deterrent to Russian aggression and that the Kremlin would likely consider a provocation.
"If a deal is reached, President Donald Trump is considering traveling to Poland in the fall, in part to commemorate the agreement. But it’s unclear whether he fully supports the idea, even after he said during a September meeting with Polish President Andrzsej Duda that the U.S. was looking “very seriously” at establishing a base. Duda, who joked that it could be named “Fort Trump,” remains committed to contribute $2 billion for its construction.
"Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki planned to visit Washington this week to discuss the proposal with Trump’s national security adviser, John Bolton, but his trip was postponed, according to two people familiar with the matter. He’s traveling to Chicago and New York instead."

Why not Fort Trump?
It is a name of a winner who overcame trips to bankruptcy court to refinance loans. He became a billionaire, a best selling author, a household name, a TV star, and finally, the best president since Reagan.
That won't be its official name, but that is what it will be.
kosciusko or pulaski to remember these 2 polish soldiers of our revolutionary war
ReplyDeleteI favor Kosciusko
DeleteMy husband's family, on both sides, is from Kosciusko County, Indiana. County seat--Warsaw.
DeleteBack when Americans honored Military Heroes.
Lindy
Well, in the spirit of Preppers everywhere, "2 is 1, and 1 is none" so why not two bases, Fort Kosciusko and Fort Pulaski?
DeleteWorks for me, allows wider coverage and just will piss the sovs.. I mean Russians off. In your eye, Putin!
Ft Trump to commemorate the only man with enough courage to withstand the barrage of deep state, media and globalist left wing cabal to save our Republic.
ReplyDeleteIt is only with the US still standing that governments ruled by the people and not a handful of elites is possible.
Great thought. In a time when the academia want to minimise our heroes, we should seek to honor more of them.
ReplyDeleteThen, close the bases in Germany. Delicious irony, that!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely!!!!
DeleteI second! Absofreakinlutely!!
DeleteA companion USAF facility will soon be required.
ReplyDeletePompeo AB, anyone?
Sounds great.
DeleteI suggest putting it on the Poland-Germany border. The official reason could be "to provide more reaction time if the Russians attack". The real reason would be to remind the Germans we're still nearby after we relocate our German bases to Poland.
Its primary purpose will be a joint base like McChord-Ft.Lewis in Washington. We need a major airbase to close and replace Ramstein in Germany. A major military medical center to replace Landstuhl Regional Medical Center should also be in the works.
DeleteI have never been fond of naming major landmarks after the living. Not until we see the historical legacy of the individual--see how Cape Canaveral has reverted from Cape Kennedy? Let's name it after the man who said: "It's amazing what you can accomplish when you don't care who gets the credit!"--Ronald Reagan
Can't wait for the aircraft carrier USS Donald J. Trump. Why not a base. Dems heads will explode.
ReplyDeleteJust remember, there will be another election in 2024 and odds say that the Republican candidate will likely lose. Our Republic will then again be in danger of socialist overrun.

DeleteQuite a guy, and a very educational day here on Surberblog.
Nickname will reveal popular sentiment honestly.
ReplyDeleteWhen I was growing up, ethnic jokes among us was quite popular and. I one took them personally. Polish jokes made the Poles our to be the stupidest people on earth. No more old fashioned Polish jokes anymore. They are a model country with amazing people.
ReplyDeletemodels of stupidity, lol!
ReplyDeleteOf course, the Poles of the Warsaw Pact had their own ethnic jokes about the Russians.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite was the one about the elderly Polish woman, the young Polish woman, the young Polish man, and the Russian soldier sitting in a train compartment.
The train goes through a tunnel, plunging the unlit train compartment into pitch darkness.
There is heard the sound of a kiss, then the sound of someone getting their face slapped.
The elderly Polish woman thinks: “One of those young men kissed that young woman, and she slapped him. Good for her!”
The young Polish woman thinks: “One of those young men tried to kiss me, kissed the old woman by mistake, and she slapped him.”
The Russian soldier thinks: “This just isn’t my day. That Polish guy kissed one of these women, and I was the one that got slapped for it!”
The young Polish man thinks: “Geez, I’m clever. I kissed the back of my hand, slugged the Russian soldier, and got away with it!”
Central Europe could use Ft. Trump, the sooner the better.
ReplyDeleteTho let's remember Kosovo, a Serbian place that allowed poor Albanian Muslims in, and then those Muslims wanted to leave Serbia, and left, and were supported by the US in leaving. Against Russia's wishes, a good ally of Serbia (both also Slavic).
Crimea is full of Russians, not "Ukrainians", nor even Crimean Tatars who were ethnically cleansed under Stalin. I don't like Russia taking over Crimea, but it's a very similar principle to Kosovo leaving Serbia.
US News seldom mentions this, but the different principles are in conflict. (Keeping borders; letting land leave when a large majority on that land want to leave.)
Better yet Fort Reagan, after the man who made possible Polish entry into NATO possible.
