Justice for Smollett versus justice for Loughlin

Jussie Smollett faces 16 charges for faking a hate crime. A Chicago judge set his bond at $100,000. He is still employed by the TV show, Empire.

Lori Loughlin faces charges for cheating and bribing to get her daughter into a prestigious college. A federal magistrate set her bond at $1 million.

Now I get the difference in bond.

Smollett's case is local. Her case is federal because the complaint involves dozens of people in various states.

But here is where the double standards apply.

Fox News reported, "One day after Lori Loughlin was ensnared in a bombshell college admissions investigation and released on a $1 million bond, the actress has been dropped by the Hallmark Channel. On Thursday, a rep for Crown Media — the umbrella group that includes the Hallmark Channel — confirmed to Fox News that the company has cut ties with the 54-year-old star."

TMZ said the show Fuller House, a sequel to Full House, dumped her as well.

She's gone, like that because of an accusation.

Her daughter also lost a modeling contract.

I get that she has a cleancut image and being indicted isn't wholesome.

What I don't get is why under these rules Smollett still has a job.

The spinning Wheel of Misfortune is fickle. Kathy Griffin and Roseanne Barr are gone for making bad jokes. Samantha Bee remains employed after calling the president's daughter the C-word.

  1. Unfair - injustice. Actually, justice is a gray area. The injustice which starts a justice issue is often clear, tho there is a mix of unjust human action and some non-human unfairness.

But "justice" is usually not fully possible.

Still, it's good to point out how the PC-Klan protects other PC-Klan members, like Smollett and S. Bee.

  3. btw, is it true that an Obama advisor tried to steer the handling of Smollett's case from local authorities to the FBI?

  4. Smollet belongs to two protected classes that have special status. The actress is white.

    Next question.

If you're the correct ethnicity and gender, you may collect your prize; if not, go away.

  7. It's very simple, Smollett is black and is very politically connected. The producers of Empire do not wish to be accused of racism.
