Climate change may clean the streets of SF

The San Francisco Chronicle reported that in 2100, the seas will cover most of downtown San Francisco -- unless we convert to communism.

The newspaper reported, "By 2100, rising sea levels could displace more than 480,000 people along the California coast and result in property losses upwards of $100 billion if no preventative measures are taken, according to a 2009 study by the California Climate Change Center. "

The newspaper filed this in its science section.

It belonged in its science fiction section.

The story said, "The study found populations in the San Francisco Bay Area are especially vulnerable, as are people of color and low-income communities."

Naturally. Poor and minorities hardest hit is a journalistic cliche for these doomsday reports.

The Associated Press reported on June 29, 1989, "A senior U.N. environmental official says entire nations could be wiped off the face of the Earth by rising sea levels if the global warming trend is not reversed by the year 2000.

"Coastal flooding and crop failures would create an exodus of 'eco- refugees,' threatening political chaos, said Noel Brown, director of the New York office of the U.N. Environment Program, or UNEP.

"He said governments have a 10-year window of opportunity to solve the greenhouse effect before it goes beyond human control.

"As the warming melts polar icecaps, ocean levels will rise by up to three feet, enough to cover the Maldives and other flat island nations, Brown told The Associated Press in an interview on Wednesday."

None of this happened.

None.

It is impossible for the "icecap" at the South Pole to melt because it sits atop land and never has above-freezing temperatures. Along the coast of Antarctica where the water stays above freezing, temperatures are above freezing for a few weeks a year.

So now, 30 years later, these liars are saying much of San Francisco will be underwater.

I hope so. The water would remove the poop from the bums, hobos, and drug addicts that overrun the city. Sanitation laws no longer are enforced.

  1. Good news, by the time coastal California is below sea level, central California will have been deserted.

No sense worrying about it now (2019). We are way to late to be able to control anything.
Seattle and NJ worry about road salt polluting the oceans. SF doesn't worry about poop or needles polluting the streets.
If aoc has her way and internal combustion engines are banned, we have to outlaw the transit unions. Millions upon millions of people will have to walk to work during the inevitable strikes. Or, they could just declare they are "unwilling" to work and collect the stipend.

  4. The North Pole is floating ice. Floating ice displaces the water it's floating in. When that type of ice melts, the water level remains the same. Just like the ice cubes in your ice tea. Changing from a floating solid to a liquid does not change the volume of the liquid. This is true for all of the floating ice in the world.

Antarctica is different. It's a continent. One of the things contributing to melting ice there is numerous active volcanoes under the ice. Unless I have missed something, man has yet to acquire the ability to control volcanoes. Also, I assume those volcanoes have been there for a long time. When it comes to frantic reporting about Antarctic ice, the Devil is in the details and details are of no concern to the lunatic Left.

  5. Gary, water expands when it freezes and CONTRACTS when it melts

  6. Since 1989 I have driven gas guzzlers every day. I tried. Some where out there is a conservative driving a Prius who has let us all down. I. Know. Who. You. Are. You may be a friend, but piss me off, and I reveal your name.

  7. The Sweet Saint of San Andreas will render this whole “issue” null and void. The sea won’t rise to meet San Fran; San Fran will fall to meet the sea.

  8. Yes. The article is absolutely 100% correct about "people of color and low income communities" being most severely affected rising seas inundating the California Coast. As we all know, the poor and minorities are the ones forced to live in oceanfront mansions along the California Coast, especially in the Bay Area. Such a human tragedy to be forced to live in the ghettos of Malibu, La Jolla, Carmel, or Marin County.

    1. Al Gore himself is one of those human tragedies: he & Tipper bought an $8.9M house right on the coast with ocean views, in Montecito CA.

We sneer at that saint, but there he is risking his life by living in such a place! Oddly, I haven't heard that he's providing housing for the homeless there, but maybe the reporters just forgot to mention that.

  10. Now wait just a dad-gum minute here. Don't any of you remember that global climate change caused Guam to flip over. You should remember all the poor people who were hit hardest when it fell on them!!

  11. If you want to avoid sea-level rise, move to West Virginia. We can build a new, green Empire State Building in Charleston. AOC and her friends need to move to Institute. (Sorry Don, you've got to take one for the team).
