Wile E. Romney retreats

Mitt Romney's Orange Man Bad column in the Washington Post began and ended his 2020 presidential campaign much like Liz Warren's DNA test ended hers.

His attack on President Donald John Trump went so well that by the end of the day, Romney wound up on CNN backpedaling.

What a hoot.

"What I did in my op-ed was not just talk about the president and my relationship with him and how we’ll work together, but also I laid out my perspectives and priorities on a very broad basis on everything from trade to China to our allies around the world, immigration and so forth," Romney said.

Relationship?

He just told the world he thinks Donald Trump lacks the integrity, honesty, and character to be president.

Nevertheless, Mitt the Merciful is willing to work with President Trump in renaming the post office in East Flustercuck, Utah, in honor of Mia Love's father.

How poorly did Romney fare? His niece dissed him. She's the chairwoman of the RNC.

And President Trump didn't. All he said was "I wish Mitt could be more of a team player, you know? I’m surprised he did it this quickly. If he fought really hard against President Obama like he does against me, he would have won the election."

Hahaha.

The president laughed in his face. Romney now heads the Republicans Against Trump caucus, population 1.

Romney just reminded Republicans that in the past they have tried civility and lost. Then they nominated a candidate who punched back twice as hard and won, and once in office he did not stop fighting back and he has accomplished many things.

Oh Warren is still running for president. She has a large staff to feed and donors are begging to be misled. But she has a 1/1,024th chance of winning.

Which is better than Romney's chances.

  3. When Democrats and NeverTrumpers (BIRM) talk about civility and say that Trump doesn't "act presidential" what they are really saying is that Trump isn't a graceful loser like Romney.

I say f*ck civility. Trump may lose but he'll go down scratching, clawing and gouging eyes to the very end.

As Leo Durocher said, "Show me a good loser and I'll show you a loser."

  4. Ole Mitt is a bit ego inflated. He talks like he'll be a major player in the Senate. Truly a legend in his own mind. He's a junior, freshman, carpetbagger Senator. If he has any prominence or influence, shame on the Republicans.
(Yes I voted for him in '12, but it was more against Obama, like my vote in '08 for McCain.)

    1. McCain at least made a way better VP choice in 2008 than Mittens did in 2012.

  5. Willard Romney couldn't even take a hit from Obama. Trump is unloading on these people. Public is sick of politicians with fake names, fake races, fake religions, fake intentions, fake personalities and fake credibility. We get the big picture, they are all bought and paid for. Trump is not fake. MAGA

Romney's not all that civil. He's actually a bit of a weasel. There's no civil way to be a weasel.

    1. Mitt has now twice stabbed Trump in the back. This time is indeed "civil," and even quite elegant. The first time made Trump's tweets seem tame. Does he think we just forgot?

  7. Yeah, poor Mitt retreats to the Senate, where he'll be for at least 6 years, unless he primaries Pence. The Orange Grifter will be long gone before 2020.

  8. I am reminded of that great scene in John Adams, where Adams and Franklin are having dinner and Franklin advises him not to insult opponents in public. Funny, but also Politics 101. Mitt gained absolutely nothing in going after Trump--the Democrats laughed (but they also think Romney's an idiot). Mitt only pandered to people in the beltway who would gladly back shiv him the next time it benefits them to do so.

Some may say, well what about Trump. Note that Trump rarely initiates insults, he is all about the come back.

I mentioned this on another site, but Romney is probably just not very bright. To those of us who work in corporate America, he is a "type" - the empty suit. He is just smart enough that his lack of intelligence isn't obvious, but not bright enough to think independently. They succeed by being conventional and not angering or scarring anyone and get promoted because they don't represent a risk to the other conventional thinkers. After all, how bright can a man who puts the dog on top of the car really be?

  9. I can think of no comment more damning upon Mitt Romney than this: he reminds me of our recently departed Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull.
Malcolm the Inept, who undermined an elected PM to take the leadership and then had no idea what to do with it.
Romney is out of the same mould. Smooth talking, well presented, but not to be trusted.

  10. In yesterday's Tucker Carlson show he took destroyed Mittens as a vulture capitalist. Carlson said Mittens made his fortune buying profitable companies, loading them with bad debt, draining them of any value, and then bankrupting them. Oh, and he slashed payroll (fired people) for short-term gain on wall street.

    Mittens is a Judas.

  14. Was he really thinking that this was a good way to launch another Presidential run. He as the swamp and the Dems all believe that Americans really hate Trump, in fact the Trumpster has a majority of republicans supporting him but the dirty little secret is that he has resurrected the Reagan Democrats phenomena.

  16. I disagree ...

    "How poorly did Romney fare?"

He "... was rewarded with placement on the Senate Foreign Relations committee. Those Senators who sit on this committee get the most financial benefit from foreign lobbying."

  17. Romney is a snake in the grass. He's called 'decent' but that's just in demeanor. He doesn't beat his wife or kids. Otherwise he's a back stabbing snake in the grass who has no allegiance and no real morality as he has no solid ideology. He says whatever he needs to say to gain power. It's maybe a Daddy thing he wants or needs to gain a higher office than his Dad did. Just what we need another rich sociopath. Sorry, take that elsewhere we're all filled up here.
