Trump's success is bigger than a wall

The losers in Washington think by blocking the wall they will bring our President Donald John Trump down. They believe the wall is all, and they are willing to kill the government to stop him.

They just don't get it.

I shall explain.

Ira Stoll, the nemesis of the New York Times, wrote a piece, "How Trump Confounds the Fact Checkers." His thinking is clear as a cloudless sky.

He wrote, "Another dimension of integrity, though, doesn’t involve precision about details or about anything personal. It has to do with the president’s commitment to following through on his campaign pledges. In that department, Mr. Trump has been astonishingly, almost unprecedentedly faithful."

The amateur politician is in it to accomplish something. The professional politician is only in it for the money.

Stoll wrote, "It’s baffling to longtime Washington observers, who have a hard time conceiving of a president shutting down the government over something as trivial as a mere campaign promise."

So what were those promises?

Stoll pointed to a campaign speech in Orlando six days before the 2016 election.

In it, President Trump made several promises.

He said, "A Trump administration will renegotiate NAFTA and we will stand up to foreign product dumping, currency manipulation, and all of the unfair subsidy behaviors. It's horrible what's happening to us. Our politicians don't have a clue, they don't know what they're doing — or other things, OK. We will also immediately stop the job killing Trans-Pacific Partnership. As part of our plan to bring back jobs, we're going to lower taxes on American business from 35 percent to 15 percent. We're the highest taxed nation in the world. Killing our jobs. Our companies are leaving. Killing our jobs."

NAFTA? Repealed and sent to Congress to replace. If rejected, NAFTA is still gone.

TPP? Gone.

Corporate taxes dropped from 35% to 21%. It's called a compromise.

He said, "Hillary wants to increase by 550 percent Syrian refugees pouring into our country. Her plan would mean generations of terrorism, radicalism, and extremism spreading in your schools and throughout your communities. When I'm elected president, we will suspend the Syrian refuge program."

The program continues but it has shut way down.

In April, NPR reported, "In 2016, near the end of Barack Obama's presidency, the U.S. resettled 15,479 Syrian refugees, according to State Department figures. In 2017, the country let in 3,024. So far this year, that number is just 11. By comparison, over the same 3 1/2-month period in 2016, the U.S. accepted 790."

Overall, President Trump has cut the refugee program so hard that the open borders Cato Institute is howling.

In that 2016 speech, he said, "As Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton allowed thousands of the most dangerous and violent criminal aliens to go free because their home countries were intelligent, they wouldn't take them back.

"We bring them to their countries — murderers, drug dealers, gang members, we'd bring them to their countries and their countries would say: get them out, we're not taking them back. They call up the State Department, and the State Department under Hillary Clinton would say: oh, bring them back, we don't want to make waves.

"I guarantee you, whether it's four years or eight years, that will not happen once under a Trump administration."

Five days ago, the Washington Times reported, "Trump makes 'historic progress' in crackdown on deportation deadbeats."

Dozens of countries that refused to take back the garbage they sent here are taking them back. Ambassador Richard Grenell got Germany to take back a Nazi guard after 14 years of failure by Bush 43 and Obama. Now you know why the Senate was so reluctant to confirm Grenell; he's effective.

In his 2016 speech, Trump said, "A Trump administration will cancel all federal funding to sanctuary cities immediately. We will end illegal immigration, deport all criminal aliens — the ones we just spoke about — and we will save American lives. We will also repeal Obama-Clinton defense sequester and rebuild our very badly depleted military."

The courts gave blocked the sanctions on the law-breaking states and cities, but rebuilding the military has begun.

He said, "Our new foreign policy will put America first. Hillary and our failed Washington establishment have spend $6 trillion on wars in the Middle East that we never won and that never end. And it's now in worse shape than ever before. The Middle East is a catastrophe, it's far worse off than had we spent nothing."

The United States is letting Israel and the Gulf states work things out.

He also said, "Our country, in a certain sense, is disappearing. Prosperity — real prosperity is disappearing. We owe $20 trillion. Our trade deals, we lose $800 billion a year on trade. We have trade deficits. Think of that. Who negotiates these deals? You know who does? Stupid people. Stupid people."

OK, that wasn't a campaign promise but not having Hillary is part of the reason we support President Trump. We revel in defeating the phony who sold out the country to raise millions for her Fake Charity.

He said, "Real change begins immediately with repealing and replacing Obamacare, a disaster."

Congress and John McCain refused to do that, but Trump got the mandate repealed.

He said, "We will save the Second Amendment which is, as you know, under tremendous siege."

A Democratic House has taken up more gun control.

He said, "We are going to have the biggest tax cut since Ronald Reagan. And Hillary wants to increase your taxes by a tremendous amount. You know, we're already the highest-taxed nation in the world. She wants to increase your taxes, if you can believe that one."

Done.

He said, "We will appoint justices to the United States Supreme Court who will uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States."

Done.

You look at this list of promises made and promises kept, and you realize that Donald John Trump does not need a wall to get re-elected.

That is remarkable. That is the real story. That is the last thing the media wants Americans to know.

  1. Oh, but the politicians most certainly do know exactly what they're doing. They're shoveling up money from lobbyists and passing the laws written by those lobbyists. The U.S. Constitution and the People be damned. - Elric

  3. Now Mitch and Romney will try to screw up the trade negotiations, after all they've been working for Tom Donahue for a very long time. It wont work.

  4. I live in the bay area and the lefties here are practically giddy at the idea that Trump will cave on the wall and ergo will have his base desert him. But what I keep pointing out (to their irritation) is the base won't desert trump if the back stabbing "frenemies" of the republicrat party or recalcitrant democrats defeat his goal of building a wall. Trump is not going to meekly submit and o.k DACA or any of the other amnesty nonsense these folks always push. He is going to get a wall, fence, barrier anything you want to call it before this saga is over. The lefties get really mad at me when I point this out.

    1. I'm kinda OK with DACA, my DACA would be:
-- parole, with no citizenship at the end of the rainbow, but you're "safe" from Migra.
      -- no citizenship, no voting
      -- no chain migration
-- as a parolee, mess up and you're outta here. Don't speak the language of the country from which your folks dragged you here? Too bad, so sad.

  5. The dems look at the wall as a "read my lips" moment in President Trump's term of office. They are hoping he'll back off and in 2020 use it like they did with taxes against hw bush. Keep government shut down until 2020 for all I care. Build the wall.

    1. Absolutely they do. But they have deluded themselves into thinking if its not 100% what Trump said while campaigning he's through. They really believe this!?!? I respond by saying Obamacare was a far cry from what was promised and what actually passed and what was actually implemented. Did democrats leave Obama in droves because it didn't turn out 100% from what he promised? Ah....no.

    2. That is exactly what this is about! That fib cost Bush a 2nd term but balanced Clinton's budgets. But there were other alternatives and what Bush I did leads us to today. NEVER trust a modern-day-progressive Democrat, and never believe a word they say, "including And & The".

  6. I keep pinching myself to see if I am dreaming. A politician actually keeping his word. A politician working hard for us. Unbelievable. MAGA

    1. I am with you. Even worse is the disgust I have in my former self for assuming that whatever GOP SOB I voted for would go back on at least three quarters of what he promised while seeking my vote.

    2. Trump really is Clark Kent & Superman. Right out of Jamaica Queens, the son of a successful builder to the working and middle class. He was the same kind of comic book hero in the 1980's when out of nowhere he jumps into and rescues the infamous Wollman Skating Rink in Central Park. He bought the Plaza Hotel in NYC when he thought that it was going to fall into ruin. This is a guy who walks the talk and puts his money where his mouth is. One of a kind!

  7. Over 700 days in and Trump still playing the media/liberal coalition and the Dem-Publicans like a fine fiddle.

    Loving the view from here!

  8. Bush 41 lost re-election from "read my lips". Trump's going to really do all he can, now, to get enough wall money to claim a win - he's "building" the wall. Tho the courts might shut his way down.

He's not going to cave on the wall. Maybe on DACA or something else, tho maybe not. His supporters will support him MORE, the longer he keeps the shutdown going.

  9. Supply what is promised, meet the timetable, keep within budget. All goals that businessmen fight for every day.

Politicians, even the best of them *cough*Jeff Sessions*cough*, ignore such minor considerations.

  10. He won't succeed fully until he builds the wall. That said, you'd have to hook by tender parts up to a megger (look it up) to get me to vote for anyone else in 2020.
