The network reported, "President Donald Trump has repeatedly advocated for a steel slat design for his border wall, which he described as 'absolutely critical to border security' in his Oval Office address to the nation Tuesday. But Department of Homeland Security testing of a steel slat prototype proved it could be cut through with a saw, according to a report by DHS.
I seriously doubt Homeland Security said they sawed through the steel.
But government workers could be as dumb as reporters.
The NBC report said, "A photo exclusively obtained by NBC News shows the results of the test after military and Border Patrol personnel were instructed to attempt to destroy the barriers with common tools."
Common tools?
My readers take care of me and one of my favorites called NBC out.
He wrote, "Cleary these were cut with an acetylene torch (one tank of acetylene and one tank of oxygen each weighting about 70 plus pounds) something every illegal immigrant brings along as he comes to sneak into our country.
"How stupid of NBC. I guess a New Yorker would swallow this but a good ole boy from West Virginia does not. More Fake News Follies (that sounds like a good book title)."
With this leaked "exclusive," the Deep State derped itself again.
"I guess a New Yorker would swallow this but a good ole boy from West Virginia does not"
ReplyDeleteHeh, sort of like a Christian asking if any good thing come from Nazareth. Isn't the orange messiah from New York? Oh right, cognitive dissonance is a prerequisite for the cult.
Nonny they lied. Period. they were caught if you were raise d on a ranch , and ran a lot of farm equipment-you need a torch and welder to put things together in case something important broke. Town being 10-20 miles out.
DeleteThe bars are cut with a Torch period.
You are unfamiliar with these things due to your life in your mother's basement. Eating cheese balls and
Natchos are no way to go through
life..
The next intelligent contribution you make to the discussion will be the first.
DeleteJews asked if any good thing came from Nazareth, not Christians. This showcases your own ignorance.
DeleteLee, I've set my stop calendar.... Wake me up in case I miss it.
DeleteNotice, the NBC report is saying " Trump wall prototype "... and then about halfway through the article they say, " though this is a picture of existing steel bollards and these tests were performed years ago >....." bla bla bla. It a old picture helps a narrative of .. no wall will work, .. no, not ever! ha
ReplyDeleteI would think the wall will have razor wire or something to make it difficult to approach the wall, making it tough to get a torch up to the wall so it can be cut.
ReplyDeleteIt does. They are just careful not to show it. They were also careful not to mention time to cut.
DeleteWorse than just solid steel, those are hollow and filled with concrete. These would be a bitch to cut through. You'd need to torch this a long time as the concrete would suck up the heat. Sawing it won't work well as most blades that cut steel well are dulled quickly cutting into concrete. Chuck a few pieces of rebar in there in the center of the concrete and it would be much more difficult. Make it really exciting by embedding smallish explosives occasionally.
ReplyDeleteYes! I had heard a commercial welder say the same thing this morning. What's funny is no one at the table didn't think it was impossible to cut through anything and this wall was never sold at that so why are the media pretending this is even a counter factual argument? Is it likely someone will try to cut through the fence when its installed, quite probably. Will they be able to do it quickly and efficiently? Doubtful. Just building the damn wall already!
DeleteAs a former auto tech, still in it as a hobby, and a former farmer who did all of his own repairs to equipment, buildings, fences, and more - I know for a fact I could cut through that with the tools in my shop - and a well-charged 18v battery, and a hammer. Or, I could use a PORTABLE torch that can be hauled in a backpack by a person in good physical shape and health.
DeleteSorry, today's "ordinary tools" are not your grandfather's, or even father's, tools.
I know I could get through it.
I have cut bolts out of manifolds without even scarring the cast iron - so no, the concrete wouldn't take the heat out. I can cut one exhaust pipe off the other to replace pipes or mufflers, with a torch and small tip - and not even nick the inner - or outer - pipe, depending on which I am removing.
I can blow a busted bolt out of a 327 Chevrolet exhaust manifold flange and not harm the cast iron or get it so hot that it busts - concentrate the heat and work fast.
My angle grinder with a good battery, and a spare in a backpack, could indeed cut that.
You can even get diamond blades for them now - to cut tile and concrete.
I also do plating in my shop - and cut the zinc with my carbide table saw blades.
I cut steel roofing by turning the blade on my circular saw so it's spinning backwards.
Anyone determined enough without interference will get through. The issue is that they have all the time in the world because we aren't watching those areas well enough. The mules drive up with trucks, cut a while, go back to Mexico, come back the next night and finish the job.
I bet they used a cordless Ryobi angle grinder. :)
ReplyDeleteBut walls are made to slow down attackers so that the defenders can kill them with stones, arrows, or spears through the slats.
And they have multiple times to try because we can't watch every single half mile of border. So they cut a while, go back and get some food, and come back the next night. I KNOW I have the tools in my shop - that would fit into a backpack - and could cut through that with only an hour's time. You can buy diamond blades that will fit an angle grinder with the guard off! Two or three spare batteries - heck, these guys make mega-bucks getting people snuck in here - they sure can spend money on good new tools for their trade. People pay big bucks to these clowns to get them in.
Deleteand I'm a whiz with a torch, I can blow a busted 5/16" bolt out of a cast iron exhaust manifold and not even scar the manifold or get it hot enough to crack it. And the modern torches come in sizes to fit a backpack.
On the other hand, my REAL big torch takes at least two very strong guys to load into my truck....
More bs from the edit rooms of the delusional MSM. These people don't think things through very well. Just like the children in cages pix from Obama's reign or the orange man pix from yesterday.
ReplyDelete"This Is Not A Border Wall", but still very interesting... https://goo.gl/T3d27J
ReplyDeleteThe neat thing with a fence is that you can monitor it electronically so that if there is any tampering, it alerts to the section being attacked and a drone or other type patrol can be sent to investigate.
ReplyDeleteA lightsaber would cut right thru those slats like a hot knife thru butter.
ReplyDeleteLOL. Good one.
DeleteAgree with B Martin
ReplyDeleteSteel jacked concrete.
I would guess they were working on it from both sides.
A real pain to cut through.
I wonder how long it took to do that?
Now I know how CNN's Ana Navarro got into the USA, she used a fingernail file on the steel slats.
ReplyDeleteMost illegals carry these acetylene torches with them as they cross the desert - just in case they have to fix or cut something.
ReplyDeleteThe common tool possibly being detcord?
ReplyDeletedoesn't everybody have at least two sets of Oxy/acetylene torches (One for the welding truck and one for traveling fence cutting)? Hey, if you are an Iron worker or Orange County Choppers They are ordinary tools.
ReplyDeletend OCC is from Orange County NY, too (Go figure)
ReplyDeleteThe media acts like anyone with half a brain wouldn't understand whatever wall we put up someone couldn't punch a hole in it. Yes, any barrier man made can be defeated the question is how much trouble will it take and how much time. We still used doors and locks even though criminals routinely kick down the doors or break the locks but you don't see people giving up the idea of locking their homes. What a bunch of idjuts!
ReplyDeleteWalls are built to slow and funnel those who seek to breach them. But all security involves active response. But then, that response can be focused on the breach rather than across miles of open border.
ReplyDeleteAlso, drop some loose rebar in the middle that spins when the saw hits them. Very hard to cut through.
A cutting torch doesnt care if your rebar spins
Delete"He wrote, "Cleary these were cut with an acetylene torch (one tank of acetylene and one tank of oxygen each weighting about 70 plus pounds)"
ReplyDeleteCleary=clearLy?
Oxy-acetylene tanks come in many sizes (and Weights)
More importantly someone could cut open the wall and drive away with the cutting equipment, leaving a hole for the aliens to go thru.
Oxygen-acetylene cutting torches are VERY common and can be light enough for one person to carry comfortably
Most importantly,
NBC said it was a saw.
DeleteThe torches are not saws; Fake News.
ReplyDeleteThere will be cuts like this, often. May need a second layer cement wall up to 6 ft; or something else, plus daily patrols looking for these breaks.
Trump should hold for more money, to include all the tech stuff the Dems say would be good enough, but ADDed to a Wall.
Battery operated angle grinder with a diamond blade and a couple of spare batteries. Cut the steel, then the concrete. I could do it with tools fit into a backpack - get me down there and I'll prove it. But these mules use TRUCKS and not every part of the fence is even watched closely, so if it takes a couple of hours, or a couple of nights - so what?
ReplyDeleteGrind the steel, change to the diamond blade as used on TILE saws, or the saws my landscaper uses to cut concrete in seconds. By the way, he has a gas powered saw that could whip through that in no time. I have borrowed and used it myself - that fence don't stand a chance against his saw.
All these laments about fake news. Rather like where the drugs are coming from, how they get across the border. As if a wall is going to stop hardly any of that.
