The Democrat wrath against Judge Brett Kavanaugh made little sense last September because his vote was not considered a swing vote.
Nevertheless, Democrats beclowned themselves with allegations from a perjuring professor and silly nonsense about fart jokes in his high school yearbook. (Qui boofed?)
But Stan Greene at the Santa Monica Observer had an excellent explanation at the time: Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.
Over the summer, she informed Democrat senators that her cancer had returned.
Greene predicted, "Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg Will Retire from the US Supreme Court in January 2019."
While she likely will survive this month, the truth is she had cancer, which panicked Democrats.
They still worry for good reason.
She is a frail little old lady who has fractured ribs and just underwent lung surgery. She has suffered cancer three times. She is unable to work.
Greene wrote in September, "She has told key Democratic members of the Senate about her medical condition, including ranking Democratic member of the Judiciary Committee Dianne Feinstein. This explains in part the 'take no prisoners' attitude of the Democrats during the Kavanaugh nomination, carefully orchestrating weak 37 year old allegations against Kavanaugh by Women he barely remembers knowing in High School and College.
"Kavanaugh is a player in this drama. He's in the wrong place at the wrong time. President Donald J. Trump will be replacing Notorious RBG, the lovechild of the left, and so will remake the Supreme Court for a generation. The Democrats simply must win back the Senate in November 2018, progressives feel."
Oddly enough, the attacks on Kavanaugh so repulsed people that not only did President Trump keep the Senate, but voters rose and threw out four incumbent Democrat senators.
In a midterm.
Opposition incumbent senators have a 96% chance of re-election in a midterm.
President Trump dumped four -- the most since 1934.
As her health declines and her absences from the court lengthen, some liberals are angry with her.
Stephanie Mencimer of Mother Jones wrote, "no amount of swag or hagiography can obscure the fact that, while Ginsburg is responsible for a great number of landmark legal decisions, her legacy may be sorely tarnished by one truly terrible one: refusing to retire when President Barack Obama could have named her replacement. That decision came into stark relief this month when Ginsburg fell and broke three ribs — and half of the nation took a collective gasp. Women took to Twitter to offer the justice a rib."
The court is all liberals have left, even after regaining the House. Time is not on their side. Her departure leaves an opportunity for Clarence Thomas to retire, assured of a successor who will be as conservative. This will lengthen the conservative era of the high court.
We are told that women somehow are better than men. But the legacy of Ginsburg shows women like men have difficulty surrendering power.
Amy Coney Barrett and Don Willett. We got this.
ReplyDeleteTwo thumbs up!
DeleteMy two faves.
DeleteDon I have term for this:
ReplyDelete"Going Brezhnev" this was a colossal
cover up by the Dems to save the court
from, well, the Constitution. A futile rearguard action that they used to hide RBG
and her true condition. Like in the old
Soviet Union, the politburo hid the condition of the current leader like Brezhnev his "cold" that lasted long after he assumed room temperature. I believe that
the Dems are doing this to a old, sick woman.Maybe even against her will..
Liars and abusers..
She is reading cases and deciding from home. In reality, she has never paid attention to cases or arguments. She just takes the liberal position of a case and votes that way. She (or her assistants) will continue to do this until she is no more. They will string her out like Generalisimo Franco for 13 more months so that the Biden Rule comes into play. I hope I am wrong.
ReplyDeleteAlso agree with Justice Thomas retiring to allow for a younger replacement and 30 years of constitutional rulings.
The Generalisimo Franco rule has been replaced by the john mccain rule.
DeleteI expect if rbg expires they will put her on artificial respiration for a couple years just so McConnell doesn't change the biden rule.
ONE more day and poof, DJT's government reduction program goes into effect. Is that the big announcement?
'Put her on artificial respiration' - the mobile version, which comes with a scary helmet and a cape. All in black.
DeleteBeware the wrath of Darth Bader!
The Biden Rule is not in play. It's only in effect when the Senate is controlled by the party in opposition to the President, not when the sitting president's party holds it.
DeleteThis also explains why Trump campaigned so hard for the Senate. He, too, knew about RBG.
ReplyDeleteWith any luck Feinstein will meltdown during the next round of Senate hearings
DeleteDear Mr. Surber, This column "triggered" a thought, perhaps The Notorious RBG didn't want Bambi choosing her successor, she may have wanted The Hildebeast to have that honor. Why exactly, I have no idea. "If true", (I just imitated CNN, et.al.) then what are the possible reasons; race, sex, insufficiently progressive bona fides, some unknown criterion? Stalwart leftist that she is & regardless of her legal acumen, her wisdom vis-a-vis politics is possibly no more discerning than yours or mine. I believe she is less perspicacious than most. She achieved the pinnacle of her profession, never had to run for election, much less re-election and therefore needn't have been concerned with wallowing in the partisan mud-pit of electoral politics. TNRBG was no different than the rest of the thundering herd of vile progressive Bovids, they all believed candidate Donald John Trump would not just, not be elected, but that he could never be elected. Robert Burns could tell them about best laid plans, etc. She took a chance, made her bet and it seems she will lose. President Trump will leave office with the record of having nominated and had confirmed the most Supreme Court justices of any president. Evah. NBADJT MAGA KAG
ReplyDeleteMaybe ruthie + her advisors considered the clinton grafters as more suitable than the obamanation fascist scum psychopaths.
DeleteThe foundation of left liberal desires to dictate requires a motivated commitment to the "some animals are more equal than others" cabal, some being plural in a much more inclusive sense than the obamanation would define.
Thus, the money supporting the former advized: No appointments for the obamanation psychopaths.
I think ruthie thought Hillary was a shoe-in, and she wanted the symbolism of being replaced by the first woman preident. I don't think it had a thing to do with any antagonism toward Obama or concern about who he would nominate.
DeleteThe point about Notorious hanging on may or may not hold true. Even she can't beat Death, but, even if it's 13 months, McConnell will tell the Biden Rulers to drop dead. He put up with Harry Reid when Chuckie or the Dick From IL could have made a stand against his nonsense.
ReplyDeleteNow, it's payback time, and we all know it's a Hildabeast.
More to the point, even with a Thomas retirement alongside CMYK's eventual removal (is there law that says a President may?), there's also the Wise Latina, type 1, and likely non-compliant, diabetic, as well as Breyer, who doesn't look good for 80, either.
In the immortal words of Joseph Warren Stilwell, it may be wishful thinking, but it could be.
Imagine a Trump Court.
Lefties will be tossing themselves into San Fiasco Bay and Long Gisland sound.
Edutcher, wouldn't that be a great picture to see?
DeleteThe Dems have their fantasy's and I have mine.
Dear Old Dad always referred to it as 'Lon Guyland'.
DeleteWith Ginsburg replaced, the uniparty "sleeper" agent Roberts is useless to the powers that be. Even without a replacement he's only good for a tie. There's only one judge that can appoint FISA judges, Roberts. Hmmm, funny that. How did that come about? Paging George Bush on the white courtesy phone.
ReplyDeleteand i hope he goes. lots of baggage during his college years.....lots of baggage
DeleteLet me get this straight. Dems knew she had cancer last summer? The official MSM news from the RBG camp is the cancer was discovered in xrays after she fell and broke ribs in November. If they lied about that I think it's fair to say they are currently lying about her present condition. Pretty sure the President has all the intel so he knows the truth. I just wonder how he plans to handle it??? He's a sly one.
ReplyDelete90 year old people do not heal, they die. Ask anyone with a deceased elderly parent.
ReplyDeleteWell put
Delete@Peter Vrattos - right, RBG wanted Clinton, wife of adulterer & perjurer Clinton, to choose her replacement and thought, like all DC, that there was no chance for Trump to get elected. Then, it was too late.
ReplyDeleteI wish her well, but she's personally foolish if she doesn't retire now ... and enjoy the days she has left ... hmm, nothing gives her more joy than voting PC on court decisions.
She won't retire until it's about the last voluntary thing she can do.
Over the summer, she informed Democrat senators that her cancer had returned.
ReplyDeleteGreene wrote in September, "She has told key Democratic members of the Senate about her medical condition, including ranking Democratic member of the Judiciary Committee Dianne Feinstein.
But Chief Justice John Roberts issued an extraordinary public rebuke of the president, declaring in a statement “We do not have Obama judges or Trump judges, Bush judges or Clinton judges.”
Yeah, right.
yes he does have those judges...he is an angry judge and it shows...in his younger day he disliked women.....his cousin is a stunch lgbt and made him vote for the same sex mariage roberts has penchant for gentlemen...he also is epileptic had a seizure on the bench recently...ok
DeleteI'm still not enamoured of Kavanaugh or Gorsuch. I think the likelihood of one or both of them going squishy proto Liberal is high, but at least they care more about the Constitution than Ginsberg. She rules based on what she wants the Constitution to say, rather than what it actually says.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to wear a red ACB hat and a KAVA hat to the hearings.
ReplyDelete"She has told key Democratic members of the Senate about her medical condition, including ranking Democratic member of the Judiciary Committee Dianne Feinstein."
ReplyDeleteHmm, she tells only Dems, but yet Justice Roberts maintains that the SC justices are all unbiased. Sure!!
I think she had in her mind's eye that tableau in the Rose Garden: the Hildebeast, flanked by RBG and the Player to Be Named Later (a far-left woman, naturally), clasping hands and raising them above their heads.
ReplyDeleteShe chose, poorly.....
