To the consternation of the complacent press, a dozen or so Democrats already are tired of the shutdown.
Breitbart News counted as capitulating Democrat Congressmen Colin Allred, Ami Bera, Cheri Bustos, Katherine Clark, Jared Golden, Jeff Van Drew, Lucy McBath, Elissa Slotkin, Max Rose, Abigail Spanberger, and Anthony Brindisi.
Add Hill and that's 12 Democrat wall supporters.
Most are freshman, but Bustos is the chairwoman of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, and Clark is the vice chairwoman of the Democrat conference.
Meanwhile, Nancy want to keep President Trump from delivering his State of the Union address. She fears him enough to look childish and silly. She does not want the nation to hear him because his message is as American as baseball.
Democrats are at a terrible disadvantage. Previous shutdowns worked because the president wanted the government to re-open.
President Donald John Trump and his supporters don't care. Keep it closed.
The military still gets paid. Social Security continues. What do I care?
That 94% of the EPA staff was laid off is a bonus. We can last one day longer than the Washington Establishment.

Give the state of the union directly to "we the people" and invite the congress to "our state of the union".

DeleteThat is a great idea. The constitution requires that the President “shall from time to time give to the Congress Information of the State of the Union, and recommend to their Consideration such measures as he shall judge necessary and expedient.” Article II, Section 3, Clause 1.
ReplyDeleteIt is only relatively recently that it has become an address. There is no reason he cannot give a speech in a forum such as you describe and just satisfy the constitutional obligation by sending a copy of the speech to the Congress.
I like the idea of him giving the SOTU in public at some venue that could hold 100k of his loyal adoring fans! Let the media try and play that off as a negative!

I am tired of all the politicos saying - 'come to DC for this rally'....or 'show Congress how strong we are..come to DC on such and so date'....I don't live by DC, Eastern Liberal Seaboard, the Left Coast either - 1000 miles away, or $1000 plane ticket....hold the SOTUA in Des Moines, Jefferson City, Amarillo, Chattanooga.....like Trump does with his Campaign rallies. Invite the Congress to take Amtrak to the event....
