Trump killed NAFTA. Congress cannot save it

President Trump told reporters aboard Air Force One that he will terminate NAFTA regardless of whether Congress approves or disapproves of the new free trade deal he cut with Canada and Mexico.

"I’ll be terminating it within a relatively short period of time. We'll get rid of NAFTA. It’s been a disaster for the United States. It’s caused us tremendous amounts of unemployment and loss and company loss and everything else. That’ll be terminated," President Trump said.

"And so Congress will have a choice of the USMCA or pre-NAFTA, which worked very well. You got out, you negotiate your deals. It worked very well. Okay?"

This is the Don Corleone version of the art of the deal.

Someone learned a lesson from John McCain's refusal to replace and repeal Obamacare.

    1. Put another way, stop listening to the Chamber of Commerce and listen to the voters.

The difference is that Boss McCain lied through his teeth when he told voters he would "lead the fight to repeal and replace Obamacare", whereas President Trump kept his word. Again.

  3. Trump is setting the right course, again; and keeping his promises.

  4. Promises made, promises kept. This is why, in spite of the media howling and the Mueller ankle-biting, Trump has a very good shot at reelection.

  5. Canada just arrested the CFO of Huawei corporation at the request of the US for evading the trade embargo on Iran. On the trade issue, he is solid.
