Some French police join protest

A video shows a group of police officers flipping sides to join the Yellow Jacket rioters who have converged on Paris. The rioters protest a new fuel tax imposed by parliament and President Emmanuel Macron.

If most of the police officers follow, Macron can kiss his office goodbye.

So far, the only international press covering this is Russia Today. The video looks staged among officers not confronting rioters.

However, Alexandre Langlois, the secretary-general of the VIGI police union, told RT, "Most of us back the Gilets Jaunes [Yellow Vests], because we will be directly affected by any rise in fuel prices, Most of us can’t live where we work, because it is either too expensive, or we would be arresting our next-door neighbors, so we drive significant distances.

"Our tax contributions are going up in several areas, but there are no commensurate wage rises… It is hard to accept these cruel measures."

When no one will protect the leader, he is in trouble. The Romanian army's rebellion led to the overthrow and execution of the Ceaușescus a quarter-century ago.

Macron's fate is likely to be less severe. His recent attacks on President Trump ensure some support from the globalists.

But the violence in Paris has not been seen since the 1960s by Frenchmen, or last New Year's car burnings by migrants.

The New York Post reported, "On Saturday alone, 412 people were arrested in the capital, where at least 133 injuries have been reported, including those of 23 security force members. Protesters set fire to six buildings and nearly 190 blazes had to be put out across Paris, according to the French Interior Ministry."

Why the Yellow Jackets?

The Post reported, "French motorists are legally obligated to have the yellow vests in their cars in case of an accident, but the items have become a grass-roots symbol of frustration."

Macron returned from the G20 talks in Argentina and now wants to meet with the Yellow Jackets.

High oil prices and taxes are driving the riot.

Meanwhile, America ignored Obama and drilled its way to lower gas prices. In some places the price is below $1.66 a gallon. That will buy you a little more than a quart of gasoline in France.

France needs to get fracking.

  1. $ 1.66/ Gallon ??

UUMMmm... here in California, gas is over $3.70 thanks to the wonderful Jerry Brown and the super-majority legislature which now has the power to raise taxes at will - no vote needed.

    1. I paid 1.88 a gallon yesterday in East Texas at a Walmart gas station. The funny thing was that folks kept coming back for refunds....they couldn't figure how much gas their tanks held.

  2. According to some history I read the May 1968 rioting and violence in France was on the verge of a revolution but was stemmed by President DeGaulle. DeGaulle used his considerable esteem to bring about a peaceful resolution.
    M. Macron is held in very low esteem by the French nation and it's not clear that he can bring about a peaceful resolution, other than by resigning.
We may be seeing history in the making.

    1. The only reason DeGaulle had "considerable esteem" is because US, UK and Canadian soldiers died liberating France in order for DeGaulle to march his Free French forces through Paris.

    2. I agree. But Marx predicted the middle class would become the front for the proles for the REAL change. And the prole revolution, of course - the French being French - will set up a Commune which will beget a Committee for Public Safety. And so on.

      I hope not!

  4. The Bastille was taken with the aid of government troops. This is most certainly not lost on the French. Time for a Le Pen presidency.

  6. By the way. Went to a "Winter Celebration" thing recently for granddaughter's dance thingy. Keep in mind I live in a university town. One of the little boys was crying on his way into the theater. Found out why when we saw him on the stage. They made him dress up as one of the fairies with the little girls. These people are sick.

    1. Years ago on an episode of Barney the PUrple Dinosaur, they had a group of kids dressed up as flowers singing about their particular costume. One not-so-little boy had the unenviable lyric, "I'm a pansy!" and I remember thinking that whoever designated the parts was either clueless or really sadistic. I also wondered where the kid's parents (or agent) were to let him go ahead with it.

But re the original post, how come Macron was so happy to stand near PDJT at G20? Shouldn't he have distanced himself from POTUS and pushed to be near Mama Merkel?

  8. The left sees a person, and all they really see is a unit that needs to be taxed to the maximum, unless that person is a non-producer and then all they see is a vote.

  9. This gas tax is the straw that broke the camel's back, but it's just the latest in the increases across-the-board in living expenses, all feeding the Globalist environmental dream: Glowball Warmening.

In other words, it's just the usual siphoning more money out of the average persons' pockets to pay for the globalists' agenda. Reducing this particular tax won't stem the revolt.
