Gay people vs. black people in Hollywood

You cannot tell a black joke without being called racist. You cannot tell a gay joke without being called homophobic.

So what happens when a black man tells a gay joke?

You get an Oscars night controversy.

The Oscars picked comedian Kevin Hart to host its shindig in a few months.

Everyone was happy. He will be the third African American to host the show.

Not so fast, said the LGBT+ crowd. They don't like a few jokes he told.

Zack Sharf reported, "Erik Anderson, the founder of Awards Watch, took to social media shortly after Hart confirmed his hosting duty to call out the comedian for his controversial past. The awards prognosticator wrote, 'Considering how many of the Oscars’ biggest fans are women and gay men it’s quite something for the Academy to hire a guy who beat one wife, cheated on another when she was eight months pregnant and said one of his biggest fears is his son growing up and being gay.'"

The wife beating and cheating, I cannot defend. But the latter was a joke that I saw as poking fun at himself and his irrational fears.

Sharf wrote, "Hart told Rolling Stone in 2015 he would not make the same joke again and that the quote had everything to do with his own insecurities than with taking aim at the LGBTQ community. Regardless, the joke has remained a point of contention in Hart’s career. The Guardian film critic Peter Bradshaw even referenced it while debating whether or not Hart was the right Oscar host in a post titled 'Can Kevin Hart Tiptoe Through the Oscars Minefield?'"

(Tiptoe? Isn't that dog whistle homophobia?)

Sharf wrote, "As others observed online, Hart was accused again of being homophobic after the release of his 2015 comedy 'Get Hard,' in which he starred opposite Will Ferrell. At the time of the film’s release, Hart, Ferrell, and Warner Bros. were criticized for numerous homophobic prison jokes in the movie. Given this year’s Oscar race includes queer films like 'Can You Ever Forgive Me?' and 'Boy Erased,' plus movies about gay icons such as Freddie Mercury ('Bohemian Rhapsody') and starring gay icons like Lady Gaga ('A Star Is Born'), Hart being hired as host stands out even more."

Hart was supposed to be a tonic to last year's the Oscars So White objection. But this year, lavender is the new black.

Someday liberals will figure out that when you entitle everyone to a grievance card they are going to use it -- against each other.

Those of us who were not born into victimhood are amused.

They should have cloned Bob Hope when they had a chance.

  1. There's an Awards Watch?

I wonder who gets to run Dachau-on-the-Brazos.

  2. If the apocalypse were to arrive tomorrow they would all eagerly hunt each another for food. Lots of hate in Hollywood now. Gay prejudice has infected the entire left with fear thanks to their wealth and now unchecked vindictive nature.

    1. "Gay" never seemed like the right word to me. That word used to mean carefree, lighthearted, bright & showy; few homosexuals seem to resemble that old meaning, except for the bright & showy part.

My definition would be more along the "petty, nitpicking, mean and vindictive" nature. But then, I was only an entertainer for 30 odd years, so maybe I just never met the happy ones!

And since Bob Hope has been mentioned, I am obligated to post this wonderful observation he made that still rings true:

    2. The Hope piece is great and true. Thanks.

  3. These joyless pricks aren't going to be happy until there's no humor left in life. They're not happy unless they're absolutely miserable. If you want to be miserable, fine, but how about shutting the f**k up and leave everyone else alone.

  4. Not Trimpenfreude, but schadenfreude galore watching liberals destroy each other via their grievances.

And comedians (who aren’t funny anymore) always pull the “it was comedy” card to cover their prejudices.

    1. the question never asked is why they even thought of the subject as a 'joke'

  5. Since Carrie Fisher and several others have had CGI characters created to fulfill various movies. why not create CGI characters of Bob Hope and Johnny Carson and have them alternate years for hosting the Oscars?

  6. Oh hey look, some SJW is outraged ... that hardly ever happens!

  7. Americans have so much time.
