French surrender on carbon tax upsets allies

I congratulate President Emmanuel Macron on breaking the record. The French government lasted six weeks fighting the Germans before surrendering to the Nazis and retreating to Vichy.

Macron's government collapsed on its carbon tax (aka fuel tax) a month before its implementation. We shall see if this appeases the weekend rioters.

But its allies in this attempt to reshape the world in the name of climate change are miffed. They have been telling us for 20 years now that if we don't act now, in five years it will be too late.

Politico reported, "France’s sudden U-turn over an unpopular fuel tax in the face of violent anti-government protests sent shivers through the COP24 climate summit.

"That’s because the sight of one of Europe’s most climate ambitious countries beating a hasty retreat over a proposal that would have hiked gasoline tax by 4 cents, or just under 3 percent, highlighted the difficulty of imposing any economic pain in the name of tackling climate change. The tax proposal sparked weeks of riots that devastated Paris, blocked highways across the country and left four people dead."

France's surrender cripples their plan to punish people for driving a gasoline-powered car with another tax on gas. The 3% figure does not include all the other taxes already levied on gasoline that easily double the price.

The Eurocrats are devastated.

European Commission Vice-President Maroš Šefčovič said, “The way forward is not easy, is not straightforward. In the end it will be the people’s decision how much they’re ready to change the way they behave, how they live.”

Change the way they behave?

That is tyranny. That is despotism. That is globalism. That is a small cabal dictating how we should live our lives. Global warming is about promoting globalism.

But to get there, they need nations to capitulate.

France did, but to the French.

Trump gloated on Twitter, “The Paris Agreement is fatally flawed because it raises the price of energy for responsible countries while whitewashing some of the worst polluters … in the world. I want clean air and clean water and have been making great strides in improving America’s environment. But American taxpayers – and American workers – shouldn’t pay to clean up others countries’ pollution.”

The president misses the point. This is not about protecting the environment. If it were, the globalists would pile on Red China to clean up its act. This is about crippling our economy instead.

  1. Bring back Joe McCarthy! Significant swaths of our country have been infiltrated by Commies, marching under the Gaia banner. That’s as good a separator question as any these days, and we should go one further than the French. Indict them for treason.

Nah, I’ll just let God handle it, sit back, and laugh as the Deep South gets ravaged this weekend. Hopefully the coastal low will proceed up the East Coast and dump a couple feet there. The weather is God’s deal, people, not ours.

  2. Climate change idiocy was to stop US from being the world leader in technology-and to keep the world safe for kleptocracy.
Nothing gives Greeens nightmares like healthy, happy, prosperous, dark skinned people..

  3. Was a scam, is a scam, will always be a scam.

    Globalist Graft.

MAGA don't play that shit, don't play with shit and don't cotton no shit, no way, no how, no who the fuck ever.

  4. Historically, when it comes to taxes and riots, the French don't mess around.

I read a book about twenty years ago by Charles Adams,
"For Good and Evil: A History of Taxation." Not particularly well-written, but very informative.

Under the Kings Louis in the 18th century, French rioters grabbed a doctor who they mistook for a tax collector. They hacked off his arms, made him march with them, and then beat him to death with them.

The French are a bloodthirsty lot once you get them going.

  5. The Eurocrats are devastated.

It ain't makin' the Gray Lady too happy, either.

Sounds like Lefties don't like the peasants revolting against them.

    1. That's why it's so important to make that gun-grab!

  6. It was Reynaud's government that collapsed along with the French army, six weeks after the Germans invaded; that was when Petain took over, surrendered and retreated to Vichy.

  7. I heard Macaroni's approval rating is down to 18%. Must be the muslims that still like him.
