  3. Amongst the multitude of blessings I will give thanks for today, Big D and this blog will be two of them. Plus, y’all who comment with such erudition and good humor. Well, except for Nony, but today he is included in my wish for a VERY Happy Thanksgiving, because every good movie needs a villain. God bless the USA, and MAGA!

  5. I've been watching that same clip for 40 years now. I know it by heart, but it still makes me laugh out loud every time.

My other favorite Thanksgiving TV show is from the old Bob Newhart show. Emily is away visiting her family, so Bob spends Thanksgiving with Howard, Jerry, and Mr. Carlin. They are all depressed about being alone for the holiday, get drunk, and hilarity ensures.

Various clips available. Full episode--with ads, unfortunately--here: https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x57sua2

  10. I grew up on the California coast. When I was five, a new shopping mall near the beach had a grand opening, with Santa parachuting into the parking lot to give us gifts.

They missed the mark, and Santa landed in the ocean.

    Much crying ensued.
