Lindsey Graham saved the world

Loose talk about a second civil war in the United States should have ended on Thursday when Republican Senator Lindsey Graham of South Carolina cleared his throat and unloaded on the Marxist Democrat party.

Graham showed the world that President Trump does not stand alone. He has Republicans covering his back.

The judiciary hearing on Judge Brett Kavanaugh's nomination to the Supreme Court hit its nadir. Marxist Democrats looked to succeed in ruining his career, his life, and his reputation.

Graham -- a media dandy -- stepped up for decency, honor, and the rule of law.

Thanks to Vox, I can quote him at length.
Graham: Are you aware that at 9:23 pm on the night of July the 9th, the day you were nominated to the Supreme Court by President Trump, Sen. Schumer said 23 minutes after your nomination, “I’ll oppose judge Kavanaugh’s nomination with everything, I hope a bipartisan majority will do the same. The stakes are simply too high for anything less.” If you weren’t aware of it, you are now.
Did you meet with Sen. Dianne Feinstein on August 20?
Kavanaugh: I did meet with Sen. Feinstein.
Graham: Did you know that her staff had already recommended a lawyer to Dr. Ford?
Kavanaugh: I did not know that.
Graham: Did you know that her and her staff had this allegations for over 20 days?
Kavanaugh: I did not know that at the time.
Graham: If you wanted an FBI investigation, you could have come to us. What you [Democrats] want to do is destroy this guy’s life, hold this seat open and hope you win in 2020. You’ve said that. Not me.
You got nothing to apologize for. When you see Sotomayer and Kagan, say hello because I voted for them. I’d never do to them what you’ve done to this guy. This is the most unethical sham since I’ve been in politics and if you really wanted to know the truth, you sure as hell wouldn’t have done what you’ve done to this guy. Are you a gang rapist?
Kavanaugh: No.
That last question shows how low Marxist Democrats go. When Michelle Obama said when they go low we go higher, she meant the opposite.

Graham was just warming up:
This is hell. This is going to destroy the ability of good people to come forward because of this crap. Your high school yearbook. You have interacted with professional women all your life, not one accusation. You’re supposed to be Bill Cosby when you’re a junior and senior in high school. And all of a sudden you got over it. It’s been my understanding that if you drug women and rape them for two years in high school, you probably don’t stop.
Here’s my understanding. If you lived a good life, people would recognize it like the American bar association has the gold standard. “His integrity is absolutely unquestioned. He is the very circumspect in his personal conduct, harbors no biases or prejudices. Entirely ethical. Is a really decent person. Is warm, friendly, unassuming. He’s the nicest person.”
Later, Senator Graham said this:
One thing I can you should be proud of: Ashley, you should be proud of this. That you raised a daughter who had the good character to pray for Dr. Ford. To my Republican colleagues, if you vote no, you’re legitimizing the most despicable thing I have seen in my time in politics.
Finally, he said:
I hope you’re on the Supreme Court. That’s exactly where you should be. And I hope that the American people will see through this charade. And I wish you well. You well. And I intend to vote for you, and I hope everybody who’s fair minded will.
At that moment, he reassured the world that everything is going to be all right. Republicans are standing up, and standing tall. They will defend themselves from Creepy Porn Lawyer attacks by the other side.

I am not alone in noticing this.

Seems to me that if you don't recognize that outburst was political turning point of whole drama — and turned it to BK's favor — you don't understand Red America.

Dems could win this as a matter of national public opinion and still lose it as a matter of Senate votes because well the Senate is a counter-majoritarian institution whose members have every incentive to bow to home-state public opinion

Also the Graham outburst was a turning point procedurally in the hearing, after which all his colleagues claimed their time and we never heard again from the special counsel — who was starting to probe 's calendar and time line

It was almost as if in the middle of 's speech every phone line in every Republican committee member's office lit up with people screaming "why the hell aren't you doing that too?"

Yes.

Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes!

Closed-door GOP meeting HUGE applause when walked in.

We are not alone any longer. The Republican Party has had all it can stand, it can't stand no more.

What did today is EXACTLY what we've been dying for from Republicans for decades!!! Take note, . We EXPECT you to fight like a dog for the soul of this country and for us. We're up against CRAZY.

I take back anything bad I ever said about the great senator from South Carolina Lindsey Graham

Lindsey M.F. Graham!!! He said, “You guys (Dems)thirst for power that you’d do anything to get it....I pray that you never will!!!” (or close to that)... Thank God for !!!!

Lindsey Graham is on fire!!!🔥🔥

I have never voted before, but after hearing invoke the truth to those pathetic liberals, I damn will vote for for Senate! Enough is enough! Go out and vote against the liberal agenda!

What did the person who looks like do with ? I LOVE this new guy!!

Replying to
I NEVER thought I'd say this but, hell yeah !!!! This whole was a sham. I hope dems, progressives liberals, whatever they're calling themselves today get their asses handed to them in November.

In 2008, we supported Sarah Palin because she fights.

In 2016, we supported Donald Trump because he fights.

In 2018, we must support all Republicans because they now fight.

By the way, Graham was not the only hero.

Lawmakers also applauded for the chair of the Judiciary Committee

He earned it.

The GOP meeting is over. Senate Judiciary will vote Friday on Judge Kavanaugh and full senate will hold first vote (procedural) SATURDAY says Sen Bill Cassidy.

Vice President Pence likely will preside over the Senate, and break a tie if necessary.

The United States will come out better for this. A strong United States is better for the world.

  1. Hey, you guys - no celebrating until after the full Senate vote.

Then, get off yer ashcans and vote in November.

We’re winners. Act like it. Our new head coach is amazing, yes, but ya gotta have the players to get those crucial W’s. That’d be us.

    1. Yep. In the big picture Graham just made a couple of free throws in the third quarter. We shouldn't be celebrating but working to get more of this, and making it so there's no question who's going to win.

    1. Yes being pissed is great motivation. However fire is only effective if it is on target. Senator Graham was motivated, but as well his fire was on target.

I hope when Senator Leahy dies, the lede on his obituary is Brett Kavanaugh' high school year book picture.

    5. Exactly! Little Lindsey is reverting back to the dude who was one of the floor leaders in the House on the Clinton impeachment. He is no longer McRINO's puppet. I can't imagine him doing this if McRINO were still alive and pulling his strings. - GOC

    6. Good line! I'm glad that Lindsey "Gramnesty" has stuck his finger in the wind, learned that it's pushing the Trump Train forward, and has decided to climb aboard.

  4. And to those of you in West Virginia, don’t let the fraud Manchin’s purely political vote for Judge Kavanaugh mask the fact that he is a democrat and part of team Schumer. Defeat this political beast.

    2. Will Manchin come out and announce his vote before Collins or Murkowski? Doubtful -- he likely isn't going to commit to a principled vote if he was to be the 50th vote for Kavanaugh. More likely, he'll wait and see if Kavanaugh gets to 50 with just GOP Senators, and then he'll vote to confirm, knowing his vote didn't put Kavanaugh over the top.

    3. Manchin has now announced he will vote NO, against confirmation of Kavanaugh.

  6. Don, you are mistaken that the "non-shooting" civil war has ended. Do you really think that the Lunatic Left will now return to the "regular order of business" with the mid-terms on the horizon.

This is not a re-write of the battle for Fort Sumpter, with Republicans successfully repelling the Democrats, no, exactly the opposite has occurred.

This was the Battle of Fort Stevens where the unscrupulous modus operandi of the Left finally hit too close to home and Republicans finally rallied to defend musty constitutional standards such as presumption of innocence.

Our current civil "war" is not over because the Republicans repelled an all out assault on decency. Moderate Republicans have finally had enough and the fighting has just begun. You are swept up no matter how much you wish it otherwise.

Mark my words. After Kavanaugh is confirmed, the Left's army will march on the Supreme Court and it will not be a peaceful orderly affair.

A decent conciliatory man, Senator Graham, has woken up to the fact that his Democrat "friends' are not interested in good government and will never stop their scorched earth march to power.

Only one question remains, Don, when will you?

  7. "However fire is only effective if it is on target. " << this is only true of Rep fire.
Ted Kennedy's Bork fire was way way off target, yet effective. Which is why we got more of it vs Thomas, and so much more now.

All should write Graham and thank him for his inspiring speech -- perhaps mentioning that if he keeps it up, he could easily become a true Rep moderate leader, able to complain about Trump (when he thinks Trump is wrong on some policy or tweet) AND complain about PC-Dem bullies.

Those crazies who suffer from Democrat Derangement Syndrome.

  8. I am not sure I agree. It was nice to see Graham grow a set and use them.

However, the Demonrats set this up as a Win/Win.

    1. Kavanaugh confirmed. Then the Demonrats have the talking points = GoP hates women + do not believe them + party of rapists + kill Roe v Wade, etc.
    2. Kavanaugh not confirmed. Then = the GoP failed + cannot govern + all of the rest above.

They are vile and evil, but we knew that.

    ReplyDelete

    1. They use those talking points all the time anyway. Confirming Kavanaugh is about making the people you should want to make happy, the GOP base, happy. Democrats will always portray the GOP as woman haters.

  13. Yesterday was not a win for the republicans. While the testimony made clear that Brett Kavanaugh did nothing wrong, that he never assaulted Ford, this is not a win. I believe Judge Kavanaugh will be elevated to the supreme court. Once he is there, every time there is a controversial case concerning sex, rape, pedophilia, you name it, the media will sully his name again in the headlines.
This is a win for the democrats. Yes, they lost the seat, but every future nominee now knows this will be played again and again. They know they will be subjected to lies and that their family will be harassed, and possibly even assaulted. Many good men and great choices will hesitate to accept a nomination now, and what they might put a woman nominee through is beyond imagination.
Yesterday was the lowest the democrats have gone. Tomorrow they will go lower still. you can rest assured on that.

    1. This is undoubtedly correct. The new confrontation strategy is not Maxime Waters' invention but has deeper roots. Supposedly the US Marshalls protect the SCOTUS but I'm sure Trump would get the SS involved if he wanted to. The Marshalls are fully armed.

You're doing trench warfare, every day using reason and facts to pierce the Marxist left's distortions. Way to go! Your blog has become a daily must-read for me.

  19. The fight over Kavanaugh's confirmation is not over, not by a long shot The Democrats are already claiming that if he is confirmed by the full Senate and they win the House in November, they will move to impeach him. Were that plan to succeed, he would have to recuse himself from all deliberations of the SC for the upcoming session, leaving the Court with just 8 justices. The Dems would be fine with that, even if they don't have the votes in the Senate for his removal. If anyone thinks the Dems are going to stop now, you are mistaken.

  23. The Judiciary Committee has voted in favor of Kavanaugh and sent its recommendation of approval to the full Senate for a vote, which will now be delayed a week, during which time the Dems will try (and likely succeed) in scuttling the nomination. The Republicans do not have the votes to confirm, despite McConnell's confidence, so they agreed to the one week delay while they work on getting the two key Republican women on board. I have nothing good to say about the despicable role ALL of the women Senators, both Dem and Repub, have played and continue to play in this sordid affair. Collins is behaving no better than Feinstein has.

All those years of feeling that one is in an elite fellowship of statesmen, of going along in fraternal reciprocity, the pride of such a beautiful bubble! only to find he was duped into moving farther and farther to his left. His own pride set him up for this moment. That it urged him to speak may be the beginning of the salvation of his political soul and will. I'm glad of his outburst, but forgive me if I don't praise a man that has aided and abetted the dying of the Light by being so long entrenched against it dawning on him. --Joan of Argghh!

  27. Our Constitutional Republic is as we citizens make it to be.

Each Sovereign State's citizens makes the state bed in which they sleep.

Set your own state's MAGA in order and all else will follow.

Peaceful, civilized, prosperous existence is not a birthright. It is an obligation of the blessing of not being born in a shithole nation.

The challenge to a child is becoming an adult without turning into an asshole.

    Examples of asshole adults abound.

The wise child learns from these examples how to not be.

The wise adult chooses to not be an asshole.

    Thus, MAGA begins to multiply.

Disregard the lies and what remains is True.

All that is false is mere distraction.

Distraction is how the assholes manage to shit so blatantly upon themselves and any/all others.

MAGA abides being shit upon not at all.

Be MAGA or be shit upon.

    Pick one.
