'Law & Order: Hate Crimes' is not a hoax

Deadline Hollywood reported, "As 'Law & Order: SVU' is heading into its record-tying 20th season, NBC is expanding the Law & Order franchise with a 13-episode order to 'Law & Order: Hate Crimes, from Law & Order' boss Dick Wolf."

Well good.

I hope this series explores Hoax Hate Crimes.

There sure are plenty of them.

Remember this post election story from BBC?

BBC reported, "A young Muslim woman who reported being harassed on the New York subway by supporters of US President-elect Donald Trump has been arrested for fabricating the story, officials say.

"Yasmin Seweid, 18, said three men had called her a terrorist.

"She has been charged with filing a false report and obstructing governmental administration.

"She reportedly later admitted to police she had been out drinking and had made up the story as an excuse.

"The student originally told police the men had told her to 'get out of this country' and to 'get the f****** hijab off your head!'"

She had been out drinking? That's some Muslim you have there.

The New York Daily News followed up and reported on her plea bargain, "She must go through six months of counseling and complete three days of community service."

Wow, that's some deterrent to Hoax Hate Crimes you have there, New York. Why, no Moonshining Muslim will dare file another hoax report and risk six months of counseling AND picking up trash along the highway.

We also need episodes based on Tawana Brawley and the Duke lacrosse team. We have enough real crimes in America without wasting police time on fabrications.

  2. They have had a few false rape accusations on SVU, but more often an actual victim lies or acts to disrupt the plot or is too afraid or traumatized to come forward even months later.

  3. Guessing this will be a one way show - all hate crimes will be committed by white males.

Never have watched one episode of this franchise. Never will.

  4. I wonder if there will be any episodes about "plan bear hunting," aka "the Knockout Game"?

    1. They aren't hate crimes when people of color do that to people without color.

    1. I think most of the TV we watch anymore is at least 50 years old. We're especially fans of "Perry Mason" and "Riverboat."

    2. Along with "The Lieutenant," starring Gary Lockwood. Best darned TV show ever. Of course, season two of Route 66 was pretty darn good too, especially after replacing the original lead actor.

    3. "The Lieutenant" was Gene Roddenberry's first series and it was excellent. (Several episodes feature a young Nichelle Nichols!) Would have lasted longer if it had had a better time slot.

  6. I gave up on L&O:SVU years ago because of their anti-gun and conservative bashing.

  7. There's no such thing as a "hate crime," though free speech is anathema to Lefties so they try to make right-wing speech, or anything they don't want to hear, "hate speech."

Once they've established that beachhead, anybody saying something that a communist takes offense to becomes a "hate crime."

Under my definition of "hate speech," the Southern Poverty Law Center, and almost all Democrats, commit crimes each and every day; I'd sure like to see them stop doing that, but criminalizing their speech isn't the way to do it. That's exactly what they try to do!

The way to counter speech that you don't like is more speech, not "hate speech" laws.

(I am continually glad that I cut the TV cable over a decade ago. I don't know what "SVU" means and don't want to know; thank God I don't have to watch that propaganda-box any more!)

    1. I don't know if they are talking about 'hate speech' here, but rather hate violence.

    That is, “on the sly”.
