DC wants Meghan to inherit her father's Senate seat

If you need proof that Washington needs to be drained and demolished, Tom Rogan provided it in his column in the Washington Examiner, "Meghan McCain would be a great Senate replacement for her father."

Rogan was born in the nation's capital and raised in London. Perhaps he sees our Senate as a House of Lords. He is not alone, unfortunately.

He wrote, "To be clear, Meghan McCain might not want to be a U.S. senator. And that's fine, no one should ever face pressure to serve in public office unless in the situation of a national emergency. But if McCain is open to replacing her father until a special election can be held in 2020, she would make a great conservative successor to her irreplaceable predecessor.

Seriously, Rogan thinks a pro-abortion supporter of the CIA's own Evan McMullin is a conservative.

The Examiner columnist wrote, "Tuesday's Republican primary for Arizona's second Senate seat is being contested by one Republican, one ( perhaps senile) racist, and one extreme moron. Compared to the latter two, McCain would set a far higher standard as a conservative representative. Arizona deserves her service."

Ah, civility.

I like how he dismissed as a moron a medical doctor.

If the people of Arizona wish to elect McCain's daughter, that is their business.

And the governor may appoint her as well, realizing he must answer to the people.

But Rogan's column shows he learned nothing from the past election. The people are tired of the insiders and the dynasties of the Kennedys, Bushes, and Clintons. Rogan embraces them, and wants to add the McCains.

  1. Sad. The name mostly heard is his widow, who
May not even be half as conservative as his daughter. Sad.

  2. Repeal the XVII Amendment. Senators should be chosen by their respective state legislatures to represent the interests of their state and should not have to campaign or worry about being elected. Restoring this original intent of the U.S. Constitution will go a long way in avoiding these types of issues. - Elric

    1. But a state legislature may not truly represent a state citizens. Often, large metro districts can dominate a legislature, as is the case soon to be in CO.

    2. We have a similar problem in WA, which is in reality a red state but suffers under the boot of Seattle liberals.

The solution, however, is pretty simple and should be obvious: require a supermajority to confirm a US Senator.

    3. Good points, but large metro areas already dominate many legislatures and deliver lop-sided votes for Senators. The idea is to get Senators out of the electoral mindset. - Elric

    5. It seems our founding fathers were a touch smarter than we want to admit. People scream about State's rights being lost because of the (un)Civil War. The truth is, State;s rights were lost when Senators became direct elected and the people who buy power only needed to own two scum instead of an entire legislature.

  8. I don't like the idea of a hereditary aristocracy passing down Government posts to family members. The McCains do not own that Senate seat.

    1. Sarah would be great in the Senate! She might light a fire under some of those never Trumpers. She could reform her image after the SNL number that was done on her when she was McCain's running mate and probably do a great job.

    2. Doesn't the Senator or Representative have to be a resident of the state or District they'll represent? In Texas, I believe that your residence is determined by your Homestead citation and a 6 month occupation is required. Is the residency requirement determined by the State Legislature and thus may differ from state to state?

  9. Why appoint Meghan McCain -- the most conservative panelist on The View -- when you can appoint someone who was right there at all of the McCain funerals, whose appointment would most perfectly represent the last three decades of John McCain's public service, the period in which John McCain embodied the very idea "punish and sabotage your allies; reward and be obsequious to your enemies": Michelle Obama.

She's only slightly less conservative than the McCain women (Mrs. and Miss) who are being considered for the seat. Jen Rubin and the entire editorial boards of NRO and the Weakly Standard would be most supportive.

In Dante's Inferno, the deepest, darkest, most God-forsaken part of Hell was reserved for the betrayers. May God have mercy on the soul of John McCain.

  10. There is no place for nepotism in the Senate. No more McCains, Bushes, Clintons, Obamas, etc. in the Senate. Enough said. Try some new blood please.
