Burying McCain

Robert Stacy McCain, namesake of the Other McCain blog, spoke for a nation when he tweeted:

Note to my family: If I die in late August, please don't schedule my funeral on the opening day of college football season.

Just to be clear, I'm not watching this funeral, because I don't want to ruin my mood, but judging from reactions in my TL, it's a partisan Rorschach test. If you're a Democrat or a , you love it. Otherwise, you hate it.

If you didn't like the funeral for John McCain, you shouldn't have watched.

Did anyone think these seething, furious, crazed people would act like grownups? His daughter made an ass of herself.

Come on. They told Sarah Palin to stay home. Sad.

A headline in Politico gave away what the real problem is -- what they really fear:

Washington Mourns John McCain – And Its Own Demise Under Trump

The story, a column by its chief political correspondent, Tim Alberta, did not live up to the billing. He merely patted the Establishment on the rump for its decency and civility. which of course was the opposite of the activity at the National Cathedral.

But it is their funeral.

Alberta praised a bipartisanship that does not exist. He wrote, "Former Senator Joe Lieberman recalled McCain’s 'far-out idea of having a Democrat as his running mate,' and how the Republican presidential nominee said bipartisan leadership was exactly what the country needed."

Of course, it was all talk, because as Alberta pointed out, McCain selected Sarah Palin.

Who was barred from the funeral.

Lieberman not only was a guest but he gave a eulogy.

Alberta wrote, "Highlighting McCain’s dramatic vote against repealing the Affordable Care Act — the signature accomplishment of his former rival — Lieberman noted, 'His vote wasn’t really against that bill, but against the mindless partisanship that has taken control of both of our political parties.'"

No, it was a vote against repealing a law that McCain and every other Republican in the House and the Senate at the time voted against. It was the most partisan law possible.

That was bipartisanship under Barack Obama.

Under Trump, Washington insiders really are bipartisan; they all hate President Trump.

Alberta wrote, "Though his name was never mentioned, many of the speakers invoked Trump with the subtlety of a sledgehammer. It was only 11 minutes into the service when Meghan McCain launched the opening salvo with an emotional tribute to her father."

She shook an echo chamber.

DCWhispers wrote, "Two funerals received national attention this week: Aretha Franklin’s and John McCain’s. President Trump did not attend either one yet was clearly inside the heads of those who did. Liberals and globalists infested both occasions and would spit out the occasional anti-Trump remark of which the Establishment Media would then replay in a loop for the next three hours. Meanwhile, as these political and entertainment elites continue to appear jaded, spiteful, and increasingly tone-deaf, Donald Trump continues to rack up one impressive policy victory after another as America flourishes in this Age of Trump."

Their time has expired.

The swamp critters buried McCain on Saturday, indulging themselves with anger aimed at the sitting president.

It is a luxury they can ill afford. The times changed. These dinosaurs have failed to adapt. The globalism of the 20th century failed. A new era is here brought by an asteroid named Donald John Trump.

  4. Bipartisan has come to mean that the Republicans cave to the wishes and desires of the National Socialist Democratic party. Anything other than total capitulation to the left is considered partisan pandering of the Republicans.

    2. It has been that way for many decades. After the Democrats promised to close the borders if Reagan would just agree to an amnesty, which he did and they didn't close the borders, I knew for sure I would never vote for a national Democrat because their word was worthless.

    3. I took my wife to the National Cathedral early in our marriage. It is a magnificent building, and it was a moving tour. If this funeral had happened elsewhere, I would shrug, but behaving this way in that storied structure has me saddened and angry.

  5. It was a funeral by the insiders, for the insiders, and about the ultimate insider. John McCain would have loved it... the rest of us probably weren't supposed to like it.

The insiders' problem, which they still don't seem to recognize, is that if/when we get to the point where we care just as little about their feelings and opinions as they care about ours, they're in huge trouble. Insiders only matter if there's something to be inside of.

    1. It was disgustingly extravagant, so over the top as to be an embarrassment for the USA. I was thinking that based all the pomp and circumstance a gigantic bronze statue of McCain must be on the way to replace the Statue of Liberty. It will be called the statue of the true bipartisan man. Instead of holding a torch he will have he will be facing West and will be holding his arm up with his middle up to the nation he betrayed.

    2. Probably the most profoundly accurate statement I've read in quite a while. Your point is all about "insiders". That is exactly what our great President ran on and has governed on. He calls it the swamp. I still don't think most Americans understand how incestuous and corrupt it is.

  7. After his defeat in 08, abandoned by his beloved press and his party, McCain always struck me as just another bitter old man, humiliated by a debacle he might easily have avoided if he had been in fact as principled as his eulogizers claimed.
The red faced Beluga he spawned, ranting in her weeds, revealed what he really taught his progeny about character. She was definitely Daddy's Girl.

  12. With St John of Hanoi's Week over, we can reflect on how many funerals we've attended where there was a standing ovation.

I said a few words in behalf of my mother-in-law and got a quiet smile and a nod from the minister.

That's how it's supposed to be.

The Wellstone Weekend will long be remembered as a festival of tacky, sleazy, repulsive, and vulgar.

  15. Bipartisanship under Bill Clinton got us Don't Ask Don't Tell, MFN status for China that hollowed-out our manufacturing sector, the gay marriage ban, and the repeal of Glass-Stegall.

Oh, and Bill also let bin Ladin live, which indirectly got us the burden of the useless TSA.

    Good job, Washington.

Hopefully, God willing, the Governor of Arizona will appoint someone who is not a McCain to fill his Senate seat until the next election. That would go a long way to removing the McCain's from further polluting the public airwaves and newspapers with their childish nonsense.

  20. In case you missed it, John McCain died last week. After 7 full days of coverage FOX is looking deeper into a man, who repeated jokes if he thought he had found one, and managed to lose to Barack Obama, No one so far has brought up the Keating 5.

    1. Stop lieing. Really. Just. Shut. Up.

There is plenty to bash McCain on, but the USS Forrrstal is not one.

The event is well documented by camera and eye witness testimony.

The event is/was used for training purposes that thousands of sailors have seen.

Lack of following approved procedures caused the initial rocket to fire into where McCain was sitting in his jet. No, even if he "wet fired" his jet, starting it with too much fuel, the extra flame would have gone off the ship since his plane was parked with nose to inside and arse to sea!

In the camera footage, you see a man emerge from a fireball and jump from a plane to safety, that was McCain,

The bombs that cooked off killing all fire teams within minutes were unstable bombs from WWII that were sitting on a Pacific island exposed. The rocket that fired was due to the fact the crew did not put into place a safety that woud have prevented it.

I did not like McCain, but this is ridiculous lie after lie.

    3. Here is a Youtube link to one of the training films I saw in boot camp and shipboard fire fighting school ..

      https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=U6NnfRT_OZA

In the opening, please notice how the planes are parked. The only planes that are not arse to see are on the very aft. McCain's plane was on one of the sides of the ship, arse to sea.

As the narration notes, a rocket is fired across the flight deck. ACROSS.

How in the world did anything McCain do or not do cause a rocket to fire across the flight deck into his area?

      Come on, people.

    4. @TD: I am not going to watch the video you linked to. I am going to take you at your word because if McCain had caused the deaths of so many sailors his family pedigree would not have saved him from facing a court-martial. it makes no sense to think the Navy would have allowed him to escape responsibility for such an act.

  25. Why end funeralathon so soon? Minor League Baseball ends for non-playoff teams tomorrow. The stadiums will be vacant until April. I bet there are at least a dozen Democrats in Toledo, Cedar Rapids and Bakersfield that would attend. Meghan could deliver her eulogy and devour a case of Twinkies. CNN and FNC will continue to cover.

  28. Why "songbird" McCain probably wasn't buried at Arlington:
32 CFR 553.12 - Eligibility for interment in Arlington National Cemetery.
(a)Primarily eligible persons. The following are primarily eligible persons for purposes of interment:
    (7) Any former prisoner of war who, while a prisoner of war, served honorably in the active military service, and who died on or after November 30, 1993.
I guess making propaganda broadcasts for the enemy was not very "honorable"
