Things that failed to outrage me this week

The week that was was better than the press made it out to be. Here are some of the things that failed to outrage me.

The week began with the Associated Press reporting, "Ahead of campaigning in Ohio on Saturday, President Donald Trump unleashed a withering attack on the state’s favorite son, savaging NBA star LeBron James in a late-night tweet that derided the intelligence of one of the nation’s most prominent African-American men."

Buried in Paragraph 13, "In the interview, James said he 'would never sit across' from Trump, though he would talk to former President Barack Obama."

So James took a shot at President Trump, who fired back. Somehow that is racist. I don't think the Marxists in the press know what the word means any more.

Also on Sunday, the Daily Beast reported, "Ever since our forty-fifth president was elected, tourism to the United States from foreign countries has steadily dropped — in the face of a world-wide boom in travel — and the authoritative U.S. Travel Association has just provided me with figures projecting a further drop in 2018, from a share of worldwide tourism of 12.0 percent in 2017 to 11.7 percent this year. And this is after a drop in Trump’s first year in office from 12.9 percent. Though the numbers and differentials look small in percentages, they are large in terms of dollars not spent here by foreign tourists and they have serious negative implications for jobs not created."

Buried in the story was this tidbit, "The US’s share in worldwide travel increased steadily until 2015. While some attribute the recent drop in tourism to the U.S. to a strong dollar, in fact, the dollar was strong in 2015, when our tourism growth was at its apex, and it was strong in 2016."

So the Trump Slump is really the Obama Drop.

On Monday, the New Yorker said, "The Day Trump Told Us There Was Attempted Collusion with Russia."

The story began with a revisionist history of the Deep State forcing President Nixon to resign, invalidating a 49-state sweep two years earlier.

The story included this, "On August 5, 2018, precisely forty-four years after the collapse of the Nixon Presidency, another President, Donald Trump, made his own public admission. In one of a series of early-morning tweets, Trump addressed a meeting that his son Donald, Jr., held with a Russian lawyer affiliated with the Russian government. 'This was a meeting to get information on an opponent, totally legal and done all the time in politics - and it went nowhere,” he wrote. “I did not know about it!'"

President Trump tweeted about the same thing 14 months earlier. The smoking gun is a cap pistol.

On Tuesday, Buzz Feed reported, "Jared Kushner Used To Personally Order The Deletion Of Stories At His Newspaper."

The power of the press belongs to the man who owns the press.

Also on Tuesday, NBC reported, "The Trump administration is expected to issue a proposal in coming weeks that would make it harder for legal immigrants to become citizens or get green cards if they have ever used a range of popular public welfare programs, including Obamacare."

The key part of the story was this, "more than 20 million immigrants could be affected."

We have almost 50 million people on food stamps. Is NBC saying 40% of them are immigrants?

On Wednesday, The State -- South Carolina's big newspaper -- reported, "Fairfield losing another 126 jobs after TV-maker closes plant, citing Trump tariffs."

Not mentioned, the adding of 3 million jobs since his election.

On Thursday, the New York Times reported, "Judge in Manafort Trial Is a ‘Caesar’ in His Own Rome."

Bungling Bobby Mueller must be losing. Bigly.

On Friday, the Guardian reported,"Omarosa says Trump is a racist who uses N-word - and claims there's tape to prove it."

She said Frank Luntz told her there was a tape. Luntz denied this.

On Saturday, the Trumpoholics in the Fourth Estate extinguished their hair and rested, exhausted by all the fits they threw trying to get the president removed from office.

  1. Even when they state facts it is done in a way to lie or mislead.

They shouldn't call it Journalism school, they should call it Liars academy.

I bet Nixon could have stayed in office if he'd had the internet. Someone would have found out about Mark Felt and posted it. Game over.

    1. Can you imagine McConnel and Ryan walking into the Oval Office like leaders did to Nixon and saying "It's over, you have to resign".. Trump would personally kick their arses so they walk out with a limp.

    2. Nixon would have stayed in office if he was a democrat. democrats circle the wagons for their own. republicans pull out their guns and have a circular firing squad. Much safer to be a crooked democrat than an honest republican.

    1. You got it.

I think all the censorship of Conservative bloggers may be a sign the Red Wave may turn out to be a Red Tidal Wave and they're trying to stem the tide.

When you go all Dr Goebbels like this, it's desperation.

      YMMV

  3. If the Media is not concerned with turning off more that 50% of their auidience, or possible audience, then keep it up. The President has succeeded in turning a negative Press into a positive asset. Intentionally 'crude' and agressive, he elicits responses that keep in the public eye matters that the Press would be better off if forgotten, and allows him to proceed with important matters of State with little or no scrutiny. They have no real access to the White House, and the 'leaks' they print risk being those planted by the Administration. We the public are the losers, and as the quote attributed to Mark Twain but probably expressed earlier by Thomas Jefferson and others goes, "If you don't read the newspaper you are uninformed, if you do read the newspaper you are misinformed."

    1. Best to recheck your math, a lot of us conservatives shut the boob-tube off and quite wasting money on bird cage liner years ago. I would go so far as to say they only are endangering 25-30%, and they know the rest of us are as gone as the wind.

He's only saying that because Trump's white.

  6. In SC last week I saw the TV company story. Turns out the largest tv manufacturer in America assembled them from Chinese parts. They didn't make them, they screwed them together. That's not manufacturing.

    2. Tax/tariff policies support this type of "manufacturing". And many of those components on the boards that come from China originated from NoKo.

  10. "The story began with a revisionist history of the Deep State forcing President Nixon to resign, invalidating a 49-state sweep two years earlier." A stupid cover-up was allowing the Dems to impeach Nixon. Yet the Republican Admin of President Ford indicted 69 Republicans and 49 were found guilty.
Where are the indictments on the violations of national security, leaks, criminal RICO type criminal violations. The President is politically prevented from becoming involved by the Mueller investigation, the USAG has recused himself and his deputy who is in-charge of the Russia investigation is close friends with Comey and Mueller. Watergate was no threat to our Constitution, but this attack on Trump and the whitewashing of Clinton's actions is; the rule of law is under attack.
I wonder when Americans are going to wake up to the destruction of the rule of law ongoing and show their anger in the streets in a non-violent manner.
