Sun Tzu-ing China

“Let your plans be dark and impenetrable as night, and when you move, fall like a thunderbolt.”
― Sun Tzu, The Art of War.

As the Very Stable Genius takes action, we can appreciate the beauty of his plans.

“In the midst of chaos, there is also opportunity.”
― Sun Tzu, The Art of War.

His foreign policy seems to change shape every day giving an aura of confusion and irrationality. One day he is in Poland praising their courage, the next day he is pushing NATO allies to spend more money on self-defense, the next day he is back-slapping Putin, and so on.

No one seems to know what he is doing.

In the second summer of his presidency, we see our GEOTUS building a new alliance against Iran while isolating it from potential allies.

Iran gave up its nuclear research in 2003, when Bush 43 invaded Iraq, but resumed its program in 2006 when Democrats took over Congress. Iran also assumed Saddam Hussein's role as proud sponsor of state terrorism against Israel.

Obama rewarded this by lifting economic sanctions and giving Iran $170 billion.

President Trump's plan began with the isolation of Iran from China and Russia. On April 6, 2017, he bombed an air base in Syria -- after telling Russia beforehand so they could evacuate the air base.

He told someone else. In person.

"Trump tells Xi of Syria missile attack over Thursday night dinner in Mar-a-Lago," the South China Morning Post reported.

That's pretty cold. You're eating Dover sole fish and New York strip steak, when your host takes a phone call, and then announces, "We bombed Syria, pass the biscuits, please."

You are the head of Red China and your host just casually sent 59 cruise missiles to attack one of your fellow dictators. At that point, you lose your appetite.

But the American press nattered on and on about how as a candidate, President Trump said he would give Xi a Big Mac instead of a state dinner.

One month later, President Trump made his first foreign trip. His first stop was Saudi Arabia. Then he flew directly to Israel. The American press was bedazzled by a photo of him and other officials touching a globe.

What they missed was the direct flight. No one had done that before. The flight showed the Saudis and the Israelis are allied against Iran.

Meanwhile, President Trump publicly went after Kim Jong Un. In September 2017 something happened to Mount Mantap, which was the heart of Kim's nuke program. Either an earthquake or sabotage collapsed a tunnel killing 200 technicians and scientists.

Nine months later, Kim surrendered it all at a summit in Singapore. Dude, you're getting a McDonald's. Red China is left in the lurch.

Which leads us back to Iran.

"The Iran sanctions have officially been cast. These are the most biting sanctions ever imposed, and in November they ratchet up to yet another level. Anyone doing business with Iran will NOT be doing business with the United States. I am asking for WORLD PEACE, nothing less!" President Trump tweeted at 5:31 a.m. today.

Iran is on the ropes. Its economy is collapsing while its people are in open rebellion. The mullahs have no moolah. They blew that $170 billion on terrorists in other countries, and the people know this, and they are pissed. I have a feeling the Saudis and the Gulf states are handling this. As we should have learned in Iraq, people resent our invasions.

But President Trump is doing his part.

Zero Hedge reported, "As a reminder, on Tuesday, following an executive order signed by Trump, the U.S. imposed new restrictions intended to stop the purchase of dollar banknotes by Iran, prevent the government from trading gold and other precious metals and block the nation from selling or acquiring various industrial metals. The measures, which took effect at midnight in Washington, also targeted the auto industry and banned imports of Persian carpets and pistachios to the U.S.

"There were some signs Trump's aggressive policy was already working. Yesterday, Iran's President Hassan Rouhani, under rising economic and political pressure, spurned President Donald Trump’s suggestion for talks with 'no preconditions.' However, in a televised address on Monday night, Rouhani also said Iran is open to negotiations if the U.S. is 'sincere,' but he added that such talks would be meaningless while his nation is being hit with sanctions. Trump and his top aides have raised the possibility of face-to-face discussions with Rouhani with 'no preconditions."

Dude, you're getting a summit.

If your regime survives the summer.

But a press that leaped on a deleted covefe tweet hasn't figured out this is news. Politico had a story. That was about it.

In all of this, the real target is Red China. President Trump warned Chairman Xi last April while they were seated next to one another as they are at Mar-a-Lago with their wives. That's ice in the old veins.

The Chinese stock market has tanked, dropping 40% in the last three years. How low does it go before Chairman Xi feels like a mullah?

Zero Hedge reported, "China Escalates Media Attack On Trump: 'Drop In Chinese Stocks Doesn't Mean U.S. Is Winning.'"

Hahaha.

And Hillary "won" the popular vote.

The Chinese are responding to President Trump's tweets on Saturday, "Tariffs are working far better than anyone ever anticipated. China market has dropped 27% in last 4 months, and they are talking to us. Our market is stronger than ever, and will go up dramatically when these horrible Trade Deals are successfully renegotiated. America First.

"Tariffs have had a tremendous positive impact on our Steel Industry. Plants are opening all over the U.S., Steelworkers are working again, and big dollars are flowing into our Treasury. Other countries use Tariffs against, but when we use them, foolish people scream!

"Tariffs will make our country much richer than it is today. Only fools would disagree. We are using them to negotiate fair trade deals and, if countries are still unwilling to negotiate, they will pay us vast sums of money in the form of Tariffs. We win either way.

"China, which is for the first time doing poorly against us, is spending a fortune on ads and P.R. trying to convince and scare our politicians to fight me on Tariffs because they are really hurting their economy. Likewise other countries. We are Winning, but must be strong!"

If I were Chairman Xi, I would book a week at the Capella Singapore hotel in September. Xi may as well cut the deal now before the mountain collapses.

“The supreme art of war is to subdue the enemy without fighting.”
― Sun Tzu, The Art of War.

  1. You can always tell when Trump had a good day - the news media will be saying he had a bad day. Whenever the news is very good for Trump (or very bad for the Democrats) the media will be talking about something else.

"If you can't say something bad about Trump, don't say nothin' at all.

As they put it in Red 2

Sarah: Where did you get the bodies?

    Victoria: My freezer.

Like the district in GA where there are 270 registered voters and 670 votes cast.

    1. Yeah. And like the recount in MI in 2008 for Jill Stein's Presidential Election recount in MI that got quickly and quietly called off when some Wayne Count (Detroit) precincts had more votes than voters.

I pray for the day when we can get visibility into CA voting.

    2. I remember that well. The radio said "we'll be back with the recount right after traffic and weather". Then a brief statement, "Michigan's recount has been called off". Had to wait days to find out that the reason was what you said.

  3. Meanwhile in reality, John Bolton is saying he's still waiting for North Korea to start denuclearization. I thought than one was solved? Big talk. Nothing delivered.

    1. Sure, not resolved yet. Though Don (and many of us) are optimistic.

Also, way way better than the Clinton/Bush/Obama policies of sending $millions for nothing.

    2. I'm still waiting for the $2,500 annual health care premium savings Obama promised me in 2010.

  4. I just read an article that said China will have to start buying more U.S. soybeans, despite their tariff. It seems they have been buying them from South America, Brazil in particular, but the harvests down there are low this year. So, guess where Brazil has been buying soybeans? Yep. The U.S. How sweet is that? - Elric

Isn't that exactly what the Muslims have been doing to Europe with all that pesky immigration/asylum?
