ICE arrest separates real news from Fake News

Every news story is a test of the credibility of a news organization. Read these headlines and tell me who passed the test.
The Daily Mail: "ICE officers swoop to arrest Mexican husband at a California gas station as he was taking his pregnant wife to hospital for an elective C-section -- so she ends up driving HERSELF."

New York magazine: "ICE Arrests Husband Who Was Taking Wife to Give Birth at Hospital."

Newsweek: "ICE AGENTS, PART OF TRUMP CRACKDOWN, DETAIN HUSBAND DRIVING PREGNANT WIFE TO DELIVER BABY."

Washington Post: "ICE arrested a man driving his pregnant wife to give birth. She drove herself to the hospital."

NBC News: "ICE arrests murder suspect as he takes pregnant wife to hospital. The woman was left to drive herself to a nearby hospital in California, her legal representative said."

NBC's Channel 4 in L.A.: "ICE Arrests Murder Suspect as He and Pregnant Wife Were Headed to Hospital. The couple was on its way to the hospital for a scheduled C-section for the birth of their child."

Ah. Scheduled.

ABC News: "ICE arrests husband taking pregnant wife to hospital for delivery."

Later on ABC News: "ICE detains California man taking pregnant wife to hospital to deliver baby, says he has criminal warrant in Mexico."

Hmm.

Finally, the Los Angeles Times: "ICE says man detained driving his pregnant wife to hospital had outstanding warrant for his arrest in Mexico on homicide charges."

He was arrested for homicide, not border jumping.

Now you know the rest of the story.

    How un-Democratic.

  4. Utterly fake news, right on the heels of Thursday's editorial circle jerk where they fantasized about being honest journalists.

They just can't help themselves, can they?

  5. Whoever at NBC allowed the FACT to be printed is probably out of a job.
    What a blunder.

    1. They only allowed it because it didn't involve Harvey.

  9. On a slightly different note. Why does this woman have a 'legal representative'?

  11. The husband denies that he is wanted on murder charges in Mexico. His lawyers are asking for him to be released on bail (so he can skip out if there is a legal warrant for his arrest?).

  12. He didn't mind being extradited. But he was pissed when they took away his security clearance.
