Report says Norks are dismantling their satellite launcher

The North Korean monitoring site, 38 North, announced, "North Korea Begins Dismantling Key Facilities at the Sohae Satellite Launching Station."

Both Reuters and the Daily Mail cited 38 North in their reports on the dismantling.

If true, this is the biggest news since Kim Jong Un destroyed what was left of the Mount Mantap nuclear test site, which suffered a major tunnel collapse last September.

"In an important first step towards fulfilling a commitment made by Kim Jong Un at the June 12 Singapore Summit, new commercial satellite imagery of the Sohae Satellite Launching Station (North Korea’s main satellite launch facility since 2012) indicates that the North has begun dismantling key facilities," 38 North said.

"Most notably, these include the rail-mounted processing building — where space launch vehicles are assembled before moving them to the launch pad — and the nearby rocket engine test stand used to develop liquid-fuel engines for ballistic missiles and space launch vehicles.

"Since these facilities are believed to have played an important role in the development of technologies for the North’s intercontinental ballistic missile program, these efforts represent a significant confidence building measure on the part of North Korea."

The site cited satellite images depicting the dismantling over this weekend.

This development would upend the anti-Trump propaganda that North Korea is not following through on its promises.

"Trump told a news conference after his unprecedented June 12 summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un that Kim had promised that a major missile engine testing site would be destroyed very soon," Reuters reported in its report on the 38 North post.

The Daily Mail reported, "On Monday, Trump said he was 'very happy' with how talks were progressing with North Korea, after observers and the media highlighted an apparent lack of concrete results since the summit with Kim."

We are seeing history in the making. Naturally, the jarheaded American media gets it wrong.

  1. It is not that they want to get it wrong it is that they hate this administration so much they will never admit that the administration got it right in spite of their combined inputs and stupid comments.

  3. Could just be that Kim has his eyes set on being a real Hero of the North Korean People.

    Everybody wins. Everybody gets rich.

    Why not him?

  4. For anyone truly interested in determining if North Korea is planning to live up to its Singapore Summit commitment, then you need to rely on sources other than the American press. I added 38 North to my favorites, and also the Korea Times. The two Koreas are reconnecting their rail system....and nothing will go on those tracks until sanctions end. Denuclearization in the price of those trains running....so a logical, rational, non-deluded person would conclude that denuclearization is in the early stages of proceeding.

  5. I keep reading about how PDJT is allowing Kim to save face throughout this process. Whatever the hating media reports is allowing Kim to save face while he carries through on his promise to de-nuclearize and bring NK into the 21st century.
