In Fake News land, 34 is larger than 44.8

"Women work longer hours than men," read the Daily Mail headline.

Author Matthew Hickley wrote, "Women are working longer hours while men are putting in less time for their money. And yet the pay gap between the sexes has widened, research revealed yesterday."

Wow, it sound as if women must work longer to make less than men.

But Hickley misled readers.

The study found women put in an average 34-hour week at work.

Men average 44.8 hours a week.

In other words, women are putting in 76% of the time men are. A 24% gap.

Yet according to the article, women's pay is only 19% less than men's pay.

That is unequal.

In favor of women.

  1. Everything they say is a lie. If they happen to say something factually accurate it is done in a way to mislead.

    2. But math is HARD. They'd rather not have to actually think abut it. (They're afraid they'll turn.... CONSERVATIVE! >horrors<

  4. Just more "Fake News" tailored to fit the agenda, nothing new. Why is it that we seem to continuously get the least talented of society to become journalist.
Bigotry, stupidity and lack of ethics seem to be the common denominator in the limited minds of journalism.

      Female = second class citizen.

If a female identifies as a male, whose statistics is xi screwing up?

  7. My dad used to solemnly intone "A woman's work is never done... Why the hell doesn't she get busy and do it?" My mother and I found it hilarious. And yes, I'm female. My dad was an ironworker (structural steel) and my mother was a mom and housewife. They were the best parents ever.

    1. I separated from the AF in May 1985. My wife didn’t separate until September. So I was a househusband for 4 months. Toughest job I’ve ever had, taking care of our 3 year old son. Cooking, laundry, cleaning, the whole schmear. Couldn’t wait to get back in the workforce.

    2. My mother was also an amazingly hard worker. Three little kids, painted house interior, refinished and reupholstered furniture, sewed many of our clothes, along with all the other daily household chores. I am still in awe of both of them.

  8. One would think that one day some mathematician would work out the total number of hours worked by the total pay for both men and women and come to a conclusion. But that certainly wouldn't fit the narrative of mean old men repressing women, now would it.

  10. This is also from 2004... Doesn't justify the tactics used but still it's more "Old News" than anything.
