Democrats may as well cave on Kavanaugh

Democrats for three years delayed Brett Kavanaugh's appointment as a D.C. Circuit Judge. Democratic Senator Dick Durbin called him the "Forrest Gump of Republican politics." Well, Gump wound up a millionaire, Medal of Honor recipient, and owner of a vast estate. But what do I know?

This: Democrats should let Kavanaugh go.

There is no groundswell against him. He's a nice guy. Has a nice wife and kids. Leave him alone.

Voters don't care about how Republicans treated Merrick Garland or any of that nonsense. It's summer, the weather is nice, and Democrats keep bringing up this indoor stuff.

Democratic Senator Joe Manchin of West Virginia defied Chuck Schumer's call to fight to the mattresses against Kavanaugh. Manchin told Politico, "I’ll be 71 years old in August, you’re going to whip me? Kiss my you know what."

Now Manchin's word is his bond for at least 18 seconds, but it is an indication that senators seeking re-election in states that President Trump carried have no incentive to vote against Kavanaugh.

Of course, Manchin also is pretending to be independent. The truth will come out in his vote.

But Democrats would be wise to let this nomination pass because they have better battles to fight. Kavanaugh won't change the court. It will remain 5-4 conservative.

And very few people much care. Even the Planned Parenthood crones seem to be going through the motions.

I get fighting on principle.

I also get losing streaks.

Making a big deal out of the Kavanaugh vote will extend that losing streak by one.

  1. Manchin is on record as claiming he doesn't care if he's re-elected. Do you buy that?

  2. The Dick from IL is no brighter than his old pal, Danny Rostenkowski.

The real fight comes when RBG or Breyer goes. Then the Demos will unload on Barrett and her Catholicism, but they won't have the close margin they have now or as many Whigs.

And speaking of CMYK, she's gotten far more Notorious since this old tweet was found.

At the time Roe was decided, there was concern about population growth and particularly growth in populations that we don’t want to have too many of.

    1. Democrats can't see that last paragraph. It's like vampires don't appear in mirrors, the truth is invisible to Dems.

      Sad but true!

  3. Once it's clear the GOP has enough votes solidly committed, Shumer will release his red-state senators to make show votes.

  4. Don't worry folks. After he gets reelected, Manchin will once again firmly attach his lips to Schumer's butt with the force of a cyclonic vacuum.

    1. Schumer is a huge ass and he has to have a huge ass because a lot of Dems attach to it.

Manchin will try and fool the good people of West Virginia. I don’t think he will be able to.

  5. “Losing streaks” ...?

It’s like watching Ritzik play poker against Bilko.

Ought to be catered with lemming meringue pie.
