Trump ends 68-year war

The Washington Post in January reported most Americans don't trust President Trump with the nuclear "button."

There were even somber pieces about keeping the president from launching missiles.

We have the dumbest political press in Washington imaginable.

It is just as well. We have to put the dummies somewhere. Keep them in the newsrooms, and away from important places such as the operating theater at the hospital, the drafting room in the engineering department, and the kitchens of McDonald's.

Today news leaked that North Korea and South Korea will reach a peace agreement.

I have been telling blog readers for a year now, President Trump will orchestrate the end of a war almost as old as he is.

Looks like mission accomplished.

"North and South Korea are in talks to announce a permanent end to the officially declared military conflict between the two countries, daily newspaper Munhwa Ilbo reported Tuesday, citing an unnamed South Korean official," CNBC reported.

"Ahead of a summit next week between North Korean premier Kim Jong Un and South Korean President Moon Jae-in, lawmakers from the neighboring states were thought to be negotiating the details of a joint statement that could outline an end to the confrontation.

"Kim and Moon could also discuss returning the heavily fortified demilitarized zone separating them to its original state, the newspaper said.

"Pyongyang and Seoul have technically been at war since the 1950-1953 Korean conflict ended with a truce — and not a peace treaty. Geopolitical tensions have occasionally flared up since the armistice, although to date both countries have managed to avoid another devastating conflict."

President Trump led this. Of this, let there be no mistake. He displayed his cunning, his negotiating skill, and his sense of humor. I would like to see Trump greet Kim next month by saying, "Hi, Rocket Man," with Kim smiling and saying, "Nice to meet you, Dotard."

But their meeting would be extraneous, a consolation prize to Kim to be elevated to the level of the USA.

Fine. It costs us nothing, keeps him happy, and drives the American press bananas.

Remember when he addressed the South Korean parliament in November? The American press said Trump used it to promote his golf course. I read the speech. He told parliament in not so many words that all was right, and that a peaceful end was near.

He also made his post-war pitch to be careful about reunification, as he pointed out the horrible conditions of North Korea after more than 75 years of Kim rule.

A month before his speech, the mountain tunnels that housed Kim's nuclear program collapsed. Either by earthquake or overuse which weakened the structure.

But The Donald never leaves much to chance. Look up Rods of God. Trump only needed one. The U.S. Seals likely played a role as well.

That's speculation of course, but I know the whole story has yet to be told.

Nobel Prize for Trump? Don't insult him with an emolument previously given to Al Gore and Barack Obama.

  1. Reminds me of the time Iran released the hostages just before Reagan became Commander in Chief. You don't suppose that this development involved some kind of offer Kim couldn't refuse, do you?

  2. Kimm's toybox got smashed-Hulk style. \
i firmly believe that that B-2 Flyover at the Rose bowl was a thnk you to that particular crew.. Rods from God is true too
we'll know when the dust settles.. TG

  3. This is going to infuriate the credentialed establishment even worse. Trump the Idiot Outsider just accomplished something that the best minds of our most elite class could not bring about for 65 years. It took less than 15 months.

  4. Trust, but verify. This would be incredible news if true. That Nork defector with 12 inch worms in his bowels made me want to hurl. But, play by the rules, guys, and join the developed world. We Americans are good at forgiving.

    1. Forgive Bill and Hillary Clinton?

    2. There are some lines that should not be crossed. But, after they serve at least 20 years of a 20 to life sentence, I might be a bit softer in the heart.

    3. Forgiveness is not at all the same as releasing someone from the consequences of their actions. I unilaterally forgive B&H, but I do want them to go to jail.

  5. Rods From God is akin to having a fight with someone who is trapped at the bottom of a well. All you have to do is drop rocks on him.

Both Robert A. Heinlein as well as the team of Larry Niven and Jerry Pournelle featured kinetic energy weapons in their books.

    1. RAH's were boulders, launched from the moon, in "The Moon Is A Harsh Mistress".

  6. Dennis Rodman will be the first US Ambassador to North Korea.

The libs will be in a total meltdown when peace is declared. I can’t wait.

    1. I like the idea, but I doubt that the "Worm" could cut it as an ambassador. Maybe as a special envoy to give his BFF Kim a MAGA hat though.

  7. Somehow the left will spin this as a failure for Trump and Hillary will get the Nobel peace prize along with Kerry.

  8. There's already talk of re-populating the "demilitarized zone", but since it's become one of the few truly "Wild Areas" in the world, it'd make a helluva "Peace Park" with only a few roads crossing N-S.

  9. If he can clear up the Middle East, look for his place on Rushmore and his birthday as a holiday.

The U.S. Seals likely played a role as well.

Actually, they're SEALs, but SF or the Rangers could have been there.

  10. "Nobel Prize for Trump? Don't insult him with an emolument previously given to Al Gore and Barack Obama. "

On the contrary, Mr. Surber, the accuracy of the phrase "President Donald Trump" infuriates so many of the right people as it is. Think how much angrier they'd be at the accuracy of the phrase "President Donald Trump, Nobel Peace Prize recipient", and how much more fun you would have reminding them of it.

  11. Has Jive As s Barry claimed credit yet.

  12. When Barack Obama consigned 'generations' of innocents into the hands of unspeakable barbarity by ISIS, and said the struggle was one of competing ideologies, Trump disagreed. His tactic would have put a smile on the face of Leonidas, "Bomb the shit out of them." Less than 18 months later, they are gone. Kim is crazy buy not stupid. He also saw what happened to Assad the other day. Given the choice of 'give up the nukes or die," Kim chose to live. Good move, Fat Boy.

  13. "Nobel Prize for Trump? Don't insult him with an emolument previously given to Al Gore and Barack Obama. "

Darn! I already posted a quote of the day on my blog. But this is better!
