The Army may build the wall

Johnny Carson used to do spit takes, back in the day when late night television were hosted by comics. Ed McMahon would say, "The King is dead," and Carson would raise a toast. Mid sip, McMahon would say, "The King lives!" and Carson would do would spray his drink from his mouth.

The Wall Lives!

Turns out President Trump may have gotten funding for the wall in that budget resolution after all.

"Because of the $700 & $716 Billion Dollars gotten to rebuild our Military, many jobs are created and our Military is again rich," Trump tweeted.

"Building a great Border Wall, with drugs (poison) and enemy combatants pouring into our Country, is all about National Defense. Build WALL through M!"

Mark Moore of the New York Post wrote this means the military may build the wall.

Install is more accurate. These will be fabricated in a factory, and taken to the site. This haul and install operation seems like great training for the combat engineers.

Plus you get a nice big wall. It was going to be 20-feet tall. Then Mexico objected. 30 feet.

"Trump’s nod to military involvement is significant because among the omnibus bill’s military funding is $654.6 billion to continue the global fight against terrorism," Moore wrote.

"The president has been working with the US Army Corps of Engineers and the Department of Homeland Security to build the wall."

Congress can fight it in the courts, but I doubt the Supreme Court will tell the commander-in-chief how to run the military. Elections have consequences. Or so I heard.

Roger L. Simon said Trump picked the right fight.

"The president often references the opioid crisis to justify the need for a wall on our southern border, but he rarely invokes what may be an even greater (related) justification for making the barrier a national security issue and utilizing the military budget for its construction -- the presence of the Lebanese terror organization Hezbollah," Simon wrote.

He refers to Project Cassandra, which investigated Iran's drugs-for terrorists program. Despite overwhelming evidence, Barack Obama blocked prosecuting the case. More and more, Valerie Jarrett's Iranian background and Obama's absorption of Jeremiah Wright's anti-Semitic sermons seem to explain Obama's soft and compliant position on Iran.

Politico exposed this failure to prosecute last year. I cover it in Fake News Follies of 2017 as an example of the news CNN and the rest kept to themselves.

Trump's gambit to use of the military to erect the wall is why you should always give him the benefit of the doubt.

  1. He could also shift the money earmarked for Planned Parenthood.

Trump should build the wall this way. If nothing else, it will show the idiots in Congress why an actual budget bill (or better, a series of department-by-department budget bills) is a far better thing than a contued funding omnibus spending bill, in which a smart President can move funds areould like pieces on a chess board.

  2. You gotta love this guy.

Bet Stormy wishes she really did have sex with him.

  3. See? Told you he had something up his sleeve. If Congress doesn't like it, they can get off their fat backsides and create a real budget.

  4. Maybe if Planned Parenthood clinics were embedded in the wall every couple of hundred miles, we could use some of the half-a-billion Paul Ryan and Mitch McConnell gave PP and use it for wall construction.

  5. And when he doesn't spend all of the appropriated $1.3 trillion, he will take credit for saving us hundreds of billions. MAGA

  6. How long is the wall actually going to be?

  7. The only concern I have is that, when the left eventually regains the presidency, they will use omnibus bills to create a de facto dictatorship.

I prefer a wall, and I believe a president has this authority because it is a legitimate national defense priority, but I would have preferred a congressional resolution in favor of having a wall, even if it doesn't specifically authorize its construction or the funding thereof. It is the cowardly RINOs' betrayal of the public which necessitates this oblique move.

    1. The left does that anyway. Might as well get what we can when we can. One of the great things about the wall is, unlike surveillance and other forms of security, it works passively. If the left defunds border security at some point, the wall still exists. I can't see them taking it down-such a bad photo op.

    2. THIS. The ext Leftist President will kick off Civil War 2. We should be using this reprieve to prepare for it.

  8. I still think Trump should place a 10% to 25% fee on all money transfers leaving the USA and going South of the Border. An estimated 30 Billion a year is sent South. 10% to 25% percent of that sounds like a good way to fund the Wall and keep it maintained for years to come.

  9. Trump has called it for what it really is...National Defense! It then follows that our great Army must be stationed on our southern border until the wall is finished. Trump could secure our southern border in one day! MAGA

  10. Wanna see the wall go up in record time? Give half of it to the Army Corps of Engineers and the other half to the Navy CB's with the President's Wall Prize for the winner. Fastest Wall in History!!!
