The Army may build the wall

Johnny Carson used to do spit takes, back in the day when late night television were hosted by comics. Ed McMahon would say, "The King is dead," and Carson would raise a toast. Mid sip, McMahon would say, "The King lives!" and Carson would do would spray his drink from his mouth.

The Wall Lives!

Turns out President Trump may have gotten funding for the wall in that budget resolution after all.

"Because of the $700 & $716 Billion Dollars gotten to rebuild our Military, many jobs are created and our Military is again rich," Trump tweeted.

"Building a great Border Wall, with drugs (poison) and enemy combatants pouring into our Country, is all about National Defense. Build WALL through M!"

Mark Moore of the New York Post wrote this means the military may build the wall.

Install is more accurate. These will be fabricated in a factory, and taken to the site. This haul and install operation seems like great training for the combat engineers.

Plus you get a nice big wall. It was going to be 20-feet tall. Then Mexico objected. 30 feet.

"Trump’s nod to military involvement is significant because among the omnibus bill’s military funding is $654.6 billion to continue the global fight against terrorism," Moore wrote.

"The president has been working with the US Army Corps of Engineers and the Department of Homeland Security to build the wall."

Congress can fight it in the courts, but I doubt the Supreme Court will tell the commander-in-chief how to run the military. Elections have consequences. Or so I heard.

Roger L. Simon said Trump picked the right fight.

"The president often references the opioid crisis to justify the need for a wall on our southern border, but he rarely invokes what may be an even greater (related) justification for making the barrier a national security issue and utilizing the military budget for its construction -- the presence of the Lebanese terror organization Hezbollah," Simon wrote.

He refers to Project Cassandra, which investigated Iran's drugs-for terrorists program. Despite overwhelming evidence, Barack Obama blocked prosecuting the case. More and more, Valerie Jarrett's Iranian background and Obama's absorption of Jeremiah Wright's anti-Semitic sermons seem to explain Obama's soft and compliant position on Iran.

Politico exposed this failure to prosecute last year. I cover it in Fake News Follies of 2017 as an example of the news CNN and the rest kept to themselves.

Trump's gambit to use of the military to erect the wall is why you should always give him the benefit of the doubt.
