That time an unarmed Trump stopped a mugging

A sheriff's deputy assigned to the high school in Parkland, Florida, was too afraid to enter the building when the shooting started.

I am convinced that Donald Trump would have gone in -- armed only with his personality.

Our friends at Reddit_The_Donald dug out an old newspaper clip from November 20, 1991 (when the New York Daily News was sane) that showed Trump stopped a guy from beating another man with a club.

Trump was riding around Manhattan in his limo with his girlfriend, and later wife, Marla Maples. He saw a guy beating another guy. Trump told his driver to pull over. Maples did not want him to get involved.

But he did.

Trump told James Rosen of the Daily News, "The guy with the bat looked at me, and I said, 'Look, you’ve gotta stop this. Put down the bat.' I guess he recognized me because he said, 'Mr. Trump, I didn’t do anything wrong.' I said, 'How could you not do anything wrong when you’re whacking a guy with a bat?' Then he ran away."

There were witnesses, including Kathleen Romeo, who told the newspaper that when he emerged from his limo, the crowd cried, "There's Trump."

Romeo also said, "A lot of people were surprised that he got out to see what was happening."

I wonder why the crowd did not stop the beating.

Weeks earlier, his 79-year-old mother was attacked but bread deliveryman Lawrence Herbert chased the mugger down and apprehended the 16-year-old thug.

Trump then wrote a check that saved Herbert's home from foreclosure. Trump by then was familiar with not being able to meet a loan payment.

So in one instance, he used his fame to stop a mugging. In another, he used his fortune to stop a man from losing his home.

How can you not admire that?

The media chose to go to war with Donald John Trump in 2017 rather than accept him as president.

The media chose poorly.

From Leslie Eastman's review at Legal Insurrection:
Surber, a recovering journalist with over 30 years of experience, has been cataloging the #FakeNews that has been regularly offered as serious analysis of President Donald Trump’s actions, policies, and opinions. He has brought his enormous collection together in the longest, most serious book he has yet written: Fake News Follies of 2017.
Fake News Follies of 2017 is available on Kindle and in paperback.

Autographed copies are available. Email me at DonSurber@GMail.com for details. I am including a "director's cut." I will give you the original Chapter 1 that I cut because while the chapter was amusing, it really had nothing to do with the Fake News Follies of 2017.

  1. Well, but... Well, but... Trump DID those things. Bystanders didn't. Lefties just complain about stuff. They don't DO something about it.

  2. "There's Trump".

Kinda like, "He's the Lone Ranger".

    2. I loved that response!

It's true, too- a billionaire who rights wrongs, despised by many who should love him. He's the real Batman!

  4. Do you remember Wesley Autrey, the man who, in 2007, jumped onto the NY subway tracks to save someone who had fallen off the platform? (from Wikipedia:) "By the end of the next day, Autrey received a flood of gifts and phone calls of praise from complete strangers. He received $5,000 cash and $5,000 in scholarships for his daughters from ...the president of the [victim's] school.[6] Autrey also received $10,000 from Donald Trump.[2]"

Other celebrities invited the guy onto their show --to benefit from him in the form of ratings--and gave him presents that were NOT FROM THEIR OWN MONEY, unlike Trump, who used his own money and did not attach it to any benefit to himself. (Billary Clinton--NY Senator at the time--did not do anything for Autrey, either from their own money or the state's.)
Yes, that Trump, what a monster. Halevai there would be more like him in the world.

  5. It seems like the things PDJT has done, both public knowledge and lord knows how many things in private could fill a decent sized book. A man of action.

  6. Heh! Tabloid nonsense and a reward after his mother was mugged (no doubt growing in the retelling). Clearly this domonstrates he’d go after an AR shooter unarmed? When his country called he hid behind bone spurs. That’s all we need to know about his “courage”.

    1. How many times did you vote for Clinton and Obama? Both of whom did not go into service or war! At least, Trump does good things for people that the (2) liberal president dimwits never have.

    2. Funny, you can't produce any evidence of that claim.

    3. Is this the same Bill Clinton who claimed a deduction on his taxes for his donation of underwear?

    4. There were many put out for that reason. They didn't hide behind them, they are a problem that inhibits military service. But you're a left wing moron who couldn't care less about the truth.

    5. Your hero Obama and Clinton did not serve and hated the military so there is that. Your hate is showing because that is all you have. It is really sad and pathetic. Trumps approval numbers are rising as people are realizing how much the media are lying about him he is already at 50 percent he won the presidency with the same poll showing him at 45 percent approval rating. The next few years are going to be fun watching him continue to burn the media and all the RINOs. He won the presidency with the dems. and rep. media establishment, basically every political entity against him. He won it without spending near as much as his opponent. It was really amazing. He will win again.

    6. The problem for Democrats is they are not very bright. They have credentials and are clever, but they cannot think for themselves.
How long were you in the military there anymoose?

  7. Trump not only has done some admirable things, he stands on the side of Good and encourages the rest of us to stand there too. I value that at least as much as his past actions. It's called "leadership".

    1. So Trump does good by screwing his vendors:

In 1988 and 1989, Forest Jenkins, a contractor, spent months installing the stall walls in the bathrooms of the Taj Mahal-casino. The job was supposed to pay $231,000. The check for the work, though, never showed up, stretching the finances of Jenkins’ small construction business. Eventually Jenkins, whose business did manage to survive the episode, was paid $70,000, or 30 cents on the dollar in the restructuring that followed.

Trump has a history of not paying his contractors. Look at how many times he's been sued for it. You are in denial. Oh, and how are his ratings doing now?

  9. Le sigh. We are all human and subject to life's inconsistencies. But to the Progressive Left life is less than a zero-sum game. No matter how many good deeds a man may do, if he does one questionable action he is condemned for life. I wonder how many fine and upstanding deeds gadfly has performed in his days on this earth? - Elric

    2. LOL, Gadfly would be shooting at you in the foxhole- well, if he had the courage he would.

More likely, he'd try to get someone else to shoot at you, while he hides in a safe place!

    3. Exactly Elric its easy to point out someone's failings and overlook the good, especially if they have an agenda like Mr. Gadfly he may actually have to admit that Trump has good in him and well we can't have that now can we.

  10. "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone." Hypocrisy is hiding your real heart behind a happy, beautiful exterior. Hypocrisy is coming up with excuses to destroy people in order to make yourself look or feel better. In the biblical story, the religious thinkers of Jesus' day "caught a woman in the act of adultery" but for some reason they let the guy go. They dragged out in public and asked Jesus if she should be stoned to death. Then Jesus scribbled on the ground, stood up, and said "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone." The accusers departed, oldest first. The youngest were more self-righteous than the older ones because they didn't really understand what was going on even in their own hearts. What ever happened to "Love your neighbor as yourself?" The liberals do not care about their neighbors; they care only about their power. Too any establishment Republicans are the same way. They're all older, but no wiser than the young fools who tried to hang on to their stones. Falsely accusing someone else to improve your own status whether in a family or a community or in society at large is wrong. It is a sin. -- BJ54

  13. Quite the spurious story. Romero also said the mugger ran off before Trump got out. Also the incident wasn't reported to the police so how did Rosen find witnesses? And let's not forget Trump already had a reputation at that time for reportedly calling reporters under an assumed name to brag about himself.

  14. Love him or hate him, I believe you will eventually discover that this country has never before had a President who was smart enough to let the liberals think he is dumb while leading them to incriminate themselves and betray each other as they continue to lead the sheep 🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑 over the cliff. 😎
