As this case against the misuse of the FBI and the intelligence community develops, I realize that without good, honest agents in the FBI, we would have never known, because Hillary would be president.
The system is working. The top Leadership and Investigators of the FBI and the Justice Department have politicized the sacred investigative process in favor of Democrats and against Republicans - something which would have been unthinkable just a short time ago. Rank & File are great people!— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) February 2, 2018
Or shall I say, dedicated and patriotic Americans are?
As your resident Trump-ologist, I had to decipher this tweet from Friday: "The top Leadership and Investigators of the FBI and the Justice Department have politicized the sacred investigative process in favor of Democrats and against Republicans - something which would have been unthinkable just a short time ago. Rank and File are great people!"
Trump's tweets are carefully measured and executed.
Remember his response to Eminem's taunts?
That's right. Trump didn't respond. Eminem is a relic of the 1990s. He thought he could kickstart his career by feuding with the president. Eminem thought it was easy because Trump had so many feuds with so many other people.
Trump ignored him -- and Eminem was dumb enough to complain about being ignored. Without doing a thing, Trump showed the world that Eminem is impotent.
Jay-Z said something, and Trump was on it like that.
Why? Because a feud with Jay-Z served Trump's purpose. Feuding with Eminem would not.
Trump is disciplined. And patient. And thick skinned. The key to Trump-ology is to realize what most people think about him is a media facade he built.
It serves his purpose to be misunderstood. His success is built in part upon it.
His tweet about the FBI rank-and-file was more than just a pat on the back. His wanted to show the people in the bureau (and the world) that his dispute is with the people at the top in the previous administration.
Not only does he brook no quarrel with the rank-and-file, but Trump may owe them his presidency.
Here is why.
On July 5, Jim Comey openly politicized the bureau. The director always played politics in Washington.
J. Edgar Hoover kept his job by having the dirt on people, and the smarts to keep it to himself. He also had the goods on enemies of the state. He had an informant in the Communist Party USA (a front for the USSR) who told him Moscow and Peking (as it was then spelled) were feuding.
Nixon learned that, and decided to go to China to widen the gap between the Soviet Union and Red China.
Thank you, J. Edgar.
People in the bureau (and every federal agency) understand bosses will pay political favors.
But letting Hillary skate went beyond the pale. This was historically bad and it must have shook honest agents to the marrow.
I base that on a report by Paul Sperry in the New York Post on October 6, 2016.
"Veteran FBI agents say FBI Director James Comey has permanently damaged the bureau’s reputation for uncompromising investigations with his cowardly whitewash of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s mishandling of classified information using an unauthorized private email server," Sperry wrote.
"Feeling the heat from congressional critics, Comey last week argued that the case was investigated by career FBI agents, 'So if I blew it, they blew it, too.'
"But agents say Comey tied investigators’ hands by agreeing to unheard-of ground rules and other demands by the lawyers for Clinton and her aides that limited their investigation."
The rebellion was real and by October 28, Comey felt the only way to quell the rebellion was to re-open the case. That lasted a few days.
And it may have cost Clinton the election.
Comey thought re-opening the case and clearing her again would help her, while appeasing the rebels. After all, her lead was Too Big to Fail. She even said that if the election were held on October 27, she would be queen, er, president.
However, the re-opened investigation lasted just long enough to give enough people pause to either stay home on Election Day or by golly, to vote for Trump.
After Trump's election, Obama and company foolishly tried to use the deep state to bring Trump down. Instead, they should be sweating things out. You see, the good guys in the FBI (and elsewhere) are not letting this die.
Comey scorched the bureau's reputation. Some good people in the bureau are fighting back.
Democrats both in and out of the media want the public to ignore the politicization of the bureau. There is no conspiracy here. Just a little office romance.
But all those texts between agents Lisa Page and Peter Strzok -- the alleged lovebirds -- seemed to be about politics, and not about hanky-panky. Maybe the steamy texts are someplace else. Maybe they are among the 50,000 missing texts. Maybe "God Trump is loathsome human" is FBI code for:
How do I love thee? Let me count the ways.Maybe not.
I love thee to the depth and breadth and height
My soul can reach, when feeling out of sight
For the ends of being and ideal grace.
I love thee to the level of every day’s
Most quiet need, by sun and candle-light.
I love thee freely, as men strive for right;
I love thee purely, as they turn from praise.
I love thee with the passion put to use
In my old griefs, and with my childhood’s faith.
I love thee with a love I seemed to lose
With my lost saints. I love thee with the breath,
Smiles, tears, of all my life; and, if God choose,
I shall but love thee better after death.
Meanwhile, Inspector General Michael Horowitz has gone about his business for the past year. He seems like a stand-up guy. He led the team that busted bad cops in New York City in the 1990s.
Twenty years later, he is doing the same thing at the FBI.
"Failing to get traction on their Russia 'collusion' front, Sen. Mark Warner and other top Democratic inquisitors now suggest President Trump is obstructing justice by forcing a shake-up at FBI headquarters. But FBI sources tell me the pressure to clean house is also coming from inside the bureau, and it’s based on real concerns over malfeasance by top brass there," Sperry wrote on Thursday.
FBI Director Christopher Wray is the reason for the cleanup on Aisle Comey.
Sperry quoted former assistant FBI Director Ron Hosko as saying, "Wray is a smart, experienced attorney. He’s not gonna fold to BS pressure with no facts, so he saw something solid, something from the agency’s inspector general, who has been investigating political conflicts and irregularities involving McCabe for more than a year."
And Wray fired his deputy, Andrew McCabe, because of that evidence.
Perry quoted Michael Biasello, a 25-year veteran of the FBI who spent 10 years in counter-intelligence, as saying, "The FBI hierarchy, the management, has been poisoned by politics. This is Comey’s legacy."
The media (Democratic Party) spin is the Nunes Memo is an attempt to discredit the Mueller investigation. That is nonsense. The memo may discredit the investigation, but the purpose is to cleanse the FBI.
Comey has shown that the FBI is too big and too powerful. It needs to be reined in, not because the agents are running roughshod over the Constitution but because Comey and his cronies did.
The best way to fight corruption is to reduce the power that invites it.
Horowitz and the others are the good guys. I would guess only a dozen or so are bad agents like Page and Strzok.
President Trump in one tweet told the public that he has the backs of the good guy (and gal) agents.
When he said in that debate to Hillary "you'd be in jail," Trump was not threatening her.
It was a statement of fact.
And while she won't go to jail now, some of those who protected her may.
Thanks to the FBI that they tried to corrupt.

Good news.
"Fake News Follies of 2017" will be available on Kindle on February 6.
Order it here.
The paperback edition is on sale now.
I want to thank the news media for its help in writing my new book, because I could not have written it without their lies, spinning, and cover-ups.
Autographed copies are available. Email me at DonSurber@GMail.com for details. I am including a "director's cut." I'll email you back the original Chapter 1 that I cut because while the chapter was amusing, it really had nothing to do with the "Fake News Follies of 2017."
Ben Garrison did the cover and I am so happy with it. I told him what the book was about, sent him a copy of the manuscript, and he came up with a perfect cover. I am so pleased.
While I want to believe that the rank and file of the FBI are still good people, we see every day mountains of evidence that so many police are corrupted by the power trips that have been created since the scope of power was broadened after 9-11. Law enforcement in general, and the alphabet soup crowd in particular, need to be seriously examined.
ReplyDeleteWe may not be able to go back to the days of Mayberry R.F.D. but we can make vast improvements on what we now have.
Regarding President Trump's tweets, they are more carefully engineered than an ICBM. and they hit the target every time.
DeleteMost of the trouble on the local level is found in two things, training and militarization. They are trained to hold officer safety above all else, and equipping Police like they are light infantry units have turned the Police into a perversion of what they are supposed to be.
DeleteMy d-in-law works in the financial crimes unit for the Federales. Quite early on, I learned that it was useless to ask her about her work. She was completely evasive, but in a friendly way. Would that Stroke and Lisa kept their mouths shut like that.
ReplyDeleteStroke. I like that. Hits on many levels, and everyone knows who you're talking about.
DeletePresident Trump not only has the most effective Presidency in my lifetime, but easily the most entertaining. Stand back a moment and look.....
ReplyDeleteEvery single day there are rumors about him failing at at least one thing. He'll be indicted. One of his cabinet members is leaving because either he can't stand them or they can't stand him.
How about yesterday's good-cop bad-cop waltz he played with Sessions over Rothstein? When a reporter asked him if he would fire Rothstein (after The Memo was released), President Trump's curt reply was - "I'll let you figure that out!". A few hours later at an FBI function, AG Sessions publicly complemented Rothstein (along with Rachel Brand), noting his/their years of experience and saying "the Bureau needs good people like them". And how about the day before the memo was released, where Sessions and Rothstein came out of a WH meeting heading to separate gov't Chevy SUV's where Rothstein was caught on hidden tape going into his with a sh!t-eatin' grin and body language that would make the viewer think the man had just won the lottery.
President Trump is calling the shots. Government employees at all levels wanting to do right by the American people are being given the authority and backing to succeed. The government is slowly being straightened out.
- Ken
The funniest thing I saw yesterday was an hierarchical chart of the State Department. Under Sec Tillerson (who was supposed to be leaving in January according to the MSM). There are 9 major positions. Currently, 6 are not filled, and one is being held by a person that is awaiting retirement. LOL
DeleteAsk yourself - while every day you're reading/hearing of imminent doom coming for the POTUS, what exactly has he lost at? The appointment of Mueller? Let the game play out (Hannity is doing his part by calling for Mueller's committee to be disbanded a dozen times each night - with the MSM taking the
bait and screaming that Trump is going to pull a Saturday Night Massacre....all according to plan). The worst he's had are temporary setbacks from liberal judges, most of which have been overturned, with appeals waiting on the others. Only a matter of time before AG Sessions gets the legal right to stop funding sanctuary cities.....how about the federal government also filing to be reimbursed for monies those cities / state received from the Feds after they have been notified that they were in contempt? The judgement will break them, same way the judgement Alabama AG Sessions got against the state KKK put them out of business. Just remember the 'Asset & Forfeiture' EO that Mr. Sessions wrote up and Mr. Trump signed (which will also affect everyone now being investigated in multiple scams, starting with the Clinton's).
The structures have been put in place. The bad guys are not just falling - it's their knowing every day that they're falling, yet they keep lashing out and making fools of themselves (Nancy deserves an Academy Award for her part) knowing down deep that they can't do anything about it that is so delicious.
Is this great or what?!?!?
- Ken
Nancy "Great Stone Face" Pelosi isn't a good actor; that's all due to her plastic (cement) surgeon.
Delete@Ken
DeleteDeputy Attorney General Rosenstein is NOT one of the good guys. He is part of the Anti-Trump Axis. He has given Mueller carte blanche to investigate matters far beyond "Russian collusion," which still has the possibility of bringing down Trump's presidency. Rosenstein should be sent on his way to collect his pension while his role along with Comey in the whitewash of Hillary's crimes is investigated. And unless Sessions' praise of Rosenstein is intended to mislead while the daggers are unsheathed before the fatal deed is done, Jeff Beauregard needs to leave in favor of someone who can smell a rat like Rosenstein at ten paces.
Anonymous;
DeleteYou don't get it. You could work in the MSM.
- Ken
Anonymous;
DeleteWhy was Mr. Rothstein so happy coming out of a meeting with President Trump early Thursday evening knowing that the unredacted memo would be released Friday?
- Ken
Because he knew that Sessions had his back, DESPITE the memo implicating him in the FBI's fraud on the FISA court. Rosenstein knows that Trump cannot fire him because that would lead to accusations he was obstructing the Mueller investigation (and thus lead to impeachment come next January when the Dems take over the House). So, only Sessions can push Rosenstein aside on grounds of the DAG's conflict of interest. However, Beauregard has now publicly peed in his pants in praise of Rosenstein's "leadership." So, Rosenstein was smiling because the Dem coup d'etat of which he has always been a part continues unabated like a runaway train with no engineer in the cab to stop it.
DeleteMany of these criminals must end up in jail to send the proper message.
ReplyDeleteThank you for my touch of culture for the month. I will still not ring in on Jeopardy for the Opera and Shakespeare categories.
For those of us who crave the sight of perps being frog-marched in orange jump suits, I have to realize that Trump and his team of all-stars are playing a very, very long game. They are strategizing the draining of the swamp years down the road
DeleteReplacing a few bad eggs is easier than changing a culture. The politicization of the FBI and DOJ did not happen overnight. Cleaning them both up will be the key to draining the swamp.
ReplyDeleteQuis custodiet ipsos custodes?
Don: Glad to see you are able to translate the text properly, as they speak an entirely different language on Planet #Resistance, in addition to distorting reality to the point a time warp is created. https://legalinsurrection.com/2018/02/welcome-to-planet-resistance-where-a-month-equals-a-year/
ReplyDeleteThe fish rots from the head down. I'm just not sure which segment of the spinal cord we're at. The shooter of LaVoy Finicum, and the cover up thereafter, and pending suits, would indicate that we do have a ground to that floor and that it might be pretty slippery.
ReplyDeleteChris Farrell of JW also threw out some pretty disturbing instances/hints that there also is similar "abuse" at regional divisions of the FBI (cf. Fox).
Obviously, we should hope is that leadership will eventually take place in the *.gov b4stards and that they'll get their act together. Trust, though, is like your first wife.
@Ken: Here's some new reporting on "Good Guy" Rosenstein, who provides the "quality of leadership the DOJ needs," at least according to AG Jeff Beauregard Sessions.
ReplyDelete"A 2nd source has now confirmed to me that, in a meeting on January 10, Deputy A-G Rosenstein used the power of his office to threaten to subpoena the calls & texts of the Intel Committee to get it to stop it’s investigation of DOJ and FBI. Likely an Abuse of Power & Obstruction."

I generally think the rank and file are good, but ....
ReplyDeleteI am a 14 year LEO in North Texas. I mainly do warrant work, that is, try to arrest people for various kinds of warrants or, for ticket warrants, get people on payment plans or indigency hearings.
There was a guy in our town with 2 felony warrants. Attached to his file was a note to contact the FBI once arrested.
I worked it hard. Knocked on doors, sat upon houses for hours on end. Had other officers try to locate him.
I was in contact with the agent interested in talking to him. After he berating me for not arresting him, I told told him to gather a team and go look for the guy himself.
He then called my supervisor and proceeded to demand I be reprimanded for dereliction if duty.
I had been keeping my supervisor in the loop of my activities and he had also been in contact with the agent.
Matter of fact, the agent had been pestering my supervisor daily. After being told off in a polite way, the agent tried to go higher, but was shut down.
Just like in all other agencies, you have good ones and bad ones. You try to get rid of the bad ones.
-TexasDude
In my favorite police procedural series, the Minnesota cops call FBI agents "the Feebs".
DeleteExcellent post, Don! With which I fully agree.
ReplyDeleteHowever, you have the word "out" missing in Para 2: where you say, "...I realize that with good, honest agents in the FBI," you actually mean "without good, honest agents...."
If we didn't have those honest agents, Hillary certainly would be the Empress of Oz, and her flying monkeys would be all over the land!
Don't forget Mueller, although not FBI. An utterly corrupt tool who certainly knew this investigation was a fraud from the very beginning.
ReplyDeleteAnd Muller set up the " love birds" facad. There in No WAY these two were having an affair. With the thousands of texts between these two we have not seen one comment of, how about dinner, or thanks for last night, or you looked terrific today. Give me a break! Another lie!
DeleteI think the constitution also deserves some credit here. What no one is talking about is that in a real totalitarian state or a real banana republic, they don't have to use fake dossiers to fool judges because they don't need evidence or warrants, or investigations of candidates. They arrest or kill political opposition without cause. So the fact that they needed to hire an ex spy to give credibility to lies because they had to use the fake evidence to get a warrant, because they needed the imprimatur of law enforcement to get rid of Trump is significant. In a real totalitarian state or banana republic, congress would either not exist or be a rubber stamp, not a driving force in the prosecution of tyranny. The only thing that is really similar to those non-democratic forms of government is the blind and unquestioning support the mainstream press gives to the tyrants.
ReplyDeleteDon: I look forward to each and every one of your columns.
ReplyDeleteA worthwhile article to ponder. It covers the landscape for the FBI. Now, what about the State Department, CIA, etc.?
ReplyDeleteI,m sorry I don't believe the rot is limited to the top. If the investigators were operating in a rigged game why didn't they insure this was leaked. Why wasn't there evidence of a bogus investigation, not whispers in the washroom that could be ignored and were.
ReplyDeleteIt took Rogers to show what Americans truly value. The FBI did not do it. To this day I don't see any white hats.
The FBI is like, all Federal agencies, filled with careerists, who value nothing save their paychecks and pensions.
