Another anti-Trump Olympian crashes

A year ago, Olympian Maddie Bowman said would not visit White House if she win another gold at the Winter Olympics.

Not a problem.

The Trump Effect took care of that for Bowman.

"Winter Olympics 2018: Skier Maddie Bowman devastated after multiple falls during halfpipe," Sporting News reported.

Hahaha.

Christine Brennan of USA Today is angry.

"New Winter Olympic sport: American 'fans' hating on American athletes who speak their mind," her headline read.

How dare people not root for these Olympians.

Apparently, booing the president is OK, but athletes (a few of them millionaires) are above reproach.

"Perhaps we shouldn’t be surprised that Americans are now rooting for their fellow Americans to fail at the Olympic Games," she wrote.

"First it was Adam Rippon, then Lindsey Vonn, then Gus Kenworthy. All three dared to speak out critically against the leaders of our country, something that is about as American as apple pie, and very much in keeping with the First Amendment."

Add Maddie Bowman to the list.

Brennan thinks the First Amendment applies only to those with whom she agrees.

I defend her right to write such garbage.

But I maintain the right to call it garbage.

And I also have the right to cheer for whomever I want, and to boo. If it is OK to boo the president, and burn the flag, then who says I must cheer for Rippon, Vonn or Bowman?

I would like to root for the team, but the team doesn't want me. I'm deplorable, remember?

These athletes chose to politicize themselves.

Politics is a two-way street.

Bowman decided to feud with President Trump.

She now joins the list of those who wound up worse for the experience.

From Leslie Eastman's review at Legal Insurrection:
Surber, a recovering journalist with over 30 years of experience, has been cataloging the #FakeNews that has been regularly offered as serious analysis of President Donald Trump’s actions, policies, and opinions. He has brought his enormous collection together in the longest, most serious book he has yet written: Fake News Follies 2017.
"Fake News Follies of 2017" is available on Kindle and in paperback.

Autographed copies are available. Email me at DonSurber@GMail.com for details. I am including a "director's cut." I'll email you back the original Chapter 1 that I cut because while the chapter was amusing, it really had nothing to do with the "Fake News Follies of 2017."

Ben Garrison did the cover and I am so happy with it. I told him what the book was about, sent him a copy of the manuscript, and he came up with a perfect cover. I am so pleased.

But if they'd talked smack about Obama, they'd have been shot or bombed by drones (i.e., the enemedia).

  2. Welcome to the club Maddie. With hopefully seven more years of PDJT, you are in on the ground floor.

Brennan is horrid as a sports writer. All social justice all the time. How about athletes having to apologize for being supporters of our President or the Mets players who Had to apologize when Donald Jr. was fishing on the same beach as them and then they posed for pictures with him. Keep a spot on the list warm for Ms. Brennan.

  4. You want to see skiing, Maddie, just watch The Donald.

Downhill, off-piste, one ski, no poles.

Writing DJT in the snow as he goes. Not necessarily with his ski.

  6. Somehow I think losing the halfpipe won't result in her making better use of her windpipe.

  7. Honestly, Big D, I thought Christine Brennan was dead. It feels like she's been writing this horseshit since I was 10 years old. Only the good die young, I guess...
