The New World Order is dead

The purge of princes in Saudi Arabia is the final humiliation for the Washington Establishment. The action repudiates everything President George Herbert Walker Bush said in his "Toward a New World Order" address to a joint session of Congress.

On September 11.

From Bush:
A new partnership of nations has begun, and we stand today at a unique and extraordinary moment. The crisis in the Persian Gulf, as grave as it is, also offers a rare opportunity to move toward an historic period of cooperation. Out of these troubled times, our fifth objective — a new world order — can emerge: A new era — freer from the threat of terror, stronger in the pursuit of justice and more secure in the quest for peace. An era in which the nations of the world, east and west, north and south, can prosper and live in harmony.
A hundred generations have searched for this elusive path to peace, while a thousand wars raged across the span of human endeavor, and today that new world is struggling to be born. A world quite different from the one we've known. A world where the rule of law supplants the rule of the jungle. A world in which nations recognize the shared responsibility for freedom and justice. A world where the strong respect the rights of the weak.
This is the vision that I shared with President Gorbachev in Helsinki. He and the other leaders from Europe, the gulf and around the world understand that how we manage this crisis today could shape the future for generations to come.
His vision for the world was one of free trade, open borders, and the United States as the world cop, leading various coalitions. The United Nations would serve as our 911 dispatcher.

Within two years, Bush's friend Gorbachev was gone and the empire he oversaw disbanded.  President Bush was on his way out, a victim of his own duplicity. He said, "Read my lips, no new taxes." Voters said, "Read our lips, no more Bush." American soldiers died in a war that ousted Iraq from Kuwait, but left Saddam Hussein in power.

That was failure No. 1.

German reunification backfired. Instead of West Germany taking over the East, the Ossis prevailed. They moved the capital east to Berlin. An Ossie is the chancellor.

Clinton came in along with NAFTA and its promises of improving the American economy, and ending illegal immigration. Mexicans would have jobs and stay in Mexico.

American manufacturing declined. Illegal immigration rose as Mexicans sought better welfare benefits here. Sure, you can work for off-the-books wages but collect food stamps anyway. And child tax credits. And EITC.

But corruption was not the reason the New World Order collapsed.

Incompetence was.

The second Iraqi War removed Hussein but failed to stop terrorism.

But it was the collapse of the world economy in 2008 that did the New World Order in.

The world waited for an economic recovery that never came. For eight long years people waited.

So we had no peace and no prosperity. Isn't that delightful?

The rise of Donald Trump was not his alone. He had backers among the billionaires. Oh, not financial backers. Even a cash poor, land rich developer can come up with the scratch to finance his own campaign, and the usual political donors came aboard eventually.

But the billionaires who refused to be liberal wanted him elected -- and to succeed.

Remember when he was elected? The Asian markets collapsed. But by dawn -- or 9:30 AM Eastern -- there was a huge infusion of money. Stocks soared.

And why not? Trump would bring a rollback of regulations. Rich people can dodge taxes, but they cannot overcome regulations. Buy now and get in on the ground floor.

The Saudis are a key to this rise of nationalism. Their enemy is Iran, not Israel -- and they know that Iran's nukes are aimed at Riyadh, not Tel Aviv.

Israelis are prepared anyway, but they are cooperating with the House of Saud, which for now poses no threat.

It's more than the enemy-of-mine-enemy-is-my-friend. Israel can no longer trust the United States, nor should it. We always are one election away from lefty anti-Semites dominating our government again. The Saudis do not have that problem.

Under Bush 41 and again under Bush 43, the Saudis could dial up 911 and U.S. troops would show up.

That failed. That turned the Iraqi wars into crusades. The armies won on the battlefield but lost on the hearth.

This new prince represents a new attitude. The Saudis will fight their own battles with U.S. support.

The Saudis are copying the IDF. Ironic? Perhaps but the Israeli Defense Forces are the model for a nation with money but not many troops. Having Arabs and Muslims fight the Islamic State works well because it wins on the battlefield and on the hearth.

President Trump is fully aware of this. His flight from Riyadh to Israel was historic -- the first ever.

It followed a sword dance with the Saudis.

The sword dance was a celebration.

No one in the press bothered to find out what they were celebrating.

Now we know.

Well, the press still doesn't know. It still sees President Trump as inexperienced. Never mind building resorts across the world. A vacuous press counts only being on the public dole as experience.

The press matters not.

The New World Order failed. We're going back to nationalism. So far, so good.

Please enjoy my books on how the press bungled the 2016 election.

  1. Extraordinary image. Saudis & USA will rid world of extremism ? I hope so !

  2. Excellent assessment as always. The NWO will NOT be missed in our home, it is way beyond it's time to go.

Electing DJT as potus did America more good than anything else in the last 50 years.

  4. Bushes 41 and 43 were historically bad presidents and did serious damage to this country through their combination of duplicity of incompetence -- a combination "perfected" by a successor that neither Bush ever criticized. This 28-year period of elite incompetence is only now being remedied by a different successor, one who the Bushes publicly criticize and clearly despise. The whole Bush Family cannot slink off to hell with their blood-buddies the Clintons fast enough for me.

    1. Letting ideology ride more in the balance than love of country is always an error.

  5. Does anyone recall - as I do - how proud papa 41 when 43 was in office announced that Jeb was even better than what he considered to be an awesome 43? Wait till he becomes president, 41 promised.

    Uh, no thanks.

  6. I believe it was Robin Williams who said, if you to impersonate Bush 41, all you do is start with John Wayne's voice, and then tighten his ass a little.

  7. The enemedia can't know, beholden as they are to the Dems.

  8. Um, no. How many violent revolutions started with a reformer opening the flood gates? Glasnost - calling the French Parliament - 'Liberal reformer' Bani Sadr taking over from the Shah. Now this young prince.... I wouldn't insure him. Just sayin'

  9. I think the German term you are looking for is Ossi.

  10. Interesting post, with one glaring piece of misinformation: Iran doesn't have any nukes.

  11. Surber, you'd rather the Soviet Socialist Empire had ended with a nuclear conflagration?

Things were going better than could be expected until a bunch of losers spent 1992 whining "What difference does it make if Bush loses and Clinton wins?"
