Lose Iowa, lose the USA, Democrats

Anthropologist and public radio host Robert Leonard wrote an essay on Trump's strength in Iowa, which received national attention thanks to his superior analysis and a Matt Drudge link.

Liberals might blow off Iowa. It's largely white. Largely rural. Largely Christian. Who needs it?

Democrats do.

In six of the seven presidential elections before 2016, Democrats won Iowa. Only in 2004 did Republicans take the state, and Bush 43 won Iowa by but a little more than 10,000 votes.

Democrats won the presidency four of the six times they won Iowa.

Iowa was Democratic country. Dukakis carried 10 states in 1988.

Trump carried three of those states -- Iowa, West Virginia, and Wisconsin.

Now you can say well, Hillary took 13 of Bush 41's states, and that would be true but that would not matter because those were not core Republican states. Trump won without them.

But Iowa. Oh boy, losing Iowa leaves a mark on Democrats.

This was a reliable state that stuck with Democrats through thick (Obama) and thin (Dukakis).

And Trump just took Iowa by more 9 points -- one election after Obama took it by nearly 6.

That's a 15-point swing in one election.

Democrats are not re-gaining ground in Iowa, either, according to anthropologist Robert Leonard because Trump connects with voters.

His values are their values.

Robert Leonard analyzed a speech Trump gave.
Trump [said] we are a nation of believers and that “together we are strengthened and sustained by the power of prayer.” Democrats want prayer out of the public sphere.
Trump called the Las Vegas shooting a “horrific mass murder” and an “act of pure evil.” Democrats blame the guns and want to take yours away.
Trump honored the heroes of Las Vegas, including the police officers and other first responders. Democrats elevate thugs and view our protectors in blue with disdain.
Trump quotes scripture. Democrats ridicule those who do.
Trump stresses unity. Democrats divide American society into victims and oppressors.
Trump says, “We love our country.” Obama went on an international apology tour.
Trump says, “We cherish the sacred dignity of every human life.” Democrats murder babies.
Trump says, “We believe in strong families.” Democratic policies pull them apart.
Trump says, “We are proud of our history.” Democrats tear down monuments.
Trump says, “We respect our great American flag.” Democrats take a knee.
Democrats have a major problem. They don't like America. They want to fundamentally transform it into some socialist paradise like Cuba, North Korea, or Venezuela.

That's not the problem.

The real problem for Democrats is that Americans know this now. Obama showed this to be true.

In 2012, they had no alternative. Mitt Romney was (and still is) Democrat-lite.

Donald Trump is the alternative. He says a lot of things. That's fine. They all do.

But President Trump does a lot of things that no Republican since Reagan has done -- and oh, by the way, when Trump is done, he will have out-Reaganed Reagan.

Don't expect the media to cover this. Apparently, there is no money in telling the truth anymore.

  1. Iowa shows that basic human morality is still in play. But this Country is going to face hard decisions. You see, in earlier times, perversion was destroyed before it infected the rest. The human condition requires a certain amount of culling from time to time. The human genome is designed to do only one thing....raise children up for the next generation. Those who revere and worship God end up better than the wicked.

Trump is harkening back to those days. Evil perversion destroys that which is good.

Iowa means more than most understand. You can bet that the hard Marxist leadership here in the States understand the stakes involved.

The Democratic party no longer exists. Hard Marxism has taken over. There's plenty of info about that available.

  2. I'm so old I remember when IA and OH were essential must win swing states.....until the Dems stopped being competitive in both places. Now they are old, white and racist.

  3. "Apparently, there is no money in telling the truth anymore." There certainly would be, but these institutions have abandoned the profit motive in favor of becoming Squealer from Animal Farm. They don't care how much money they're losing; they think spreading the good news of Socialism is more important.

  4. For too long we've been watching the wrestling match and the bad guys tag-team are both in the ring beating the heck of the good guy in the ring while the other good guy is stuck outside the ropes. The ref is busy looking at someone in the crowd, and "conveniently" doesn't see the nefarious acts of the bad guys.

Trump seems to be seeing the same thing we, the TV audience, can see. The bad guys are playing dirty and the referee isn't doing his job.

It looks like Trump is taking the ref by the shoulders and turning his attention back at the main event in the ring.

  5. "Apparently, there is no money in telling the truth anymore." Virtue signalling is worth more to them than money. Just ask the formerly reputable news rags that have been sold overpriced for $1.

I think you are right. Reagan saw politics as the art of the possible. Trump sees it as a vehicle to get things done.
