Trump does not want the Golden State Warriors at the White House.
The Warriors can pound salt.
Trump tweeted this morning: "Going to the White House is considered a great honor for a championship team. Stephen Curry is hesitating, therefore invitation is withdrawn!"
Curry said he would vote against going to the White House to celebrate the team winning the NBA title last season because he does not like the president.
The president's tweet said OK, you are not invited.
The team may gave won 24 playoff games (losing only one) but until the players, coaches, and team owners know how to act like champions, they are not champions. They are merely the league winner.
NBA Commissioner Adam Silver proved to be as big a weasel as NFL commissioner Roger Goodell when it comes to reining in politicized players:
"It concerns me that something like going to the White House after winning a championship, something that has been a great tradition, would become one that is partisan.
"I will say, though, even though I think that teams should make decisions as organizations, I would also respect an individual players' decision not to go."That is correct. Attendance is not compulsory, and every year some players do not attend.
But when you make a public spectacle of it for political reasons, there are consequences.
In short, that is a great way to blow off 46% of America, dummies.
If the politicization of professional sports is meant to hurt Trump and his supporters, it is backfiring.
Because not attending games or watching them on TV is easy.
Funny, neither Rosa Parks nor Muhammad Ali had trouble meeting Donald Trump. I guess they were just Aunt and Uncle Tom.

The NBA will see even worse TV ratings than last year. PDT has a lot of influence, in case the owners don't understand that yet. Wait until you see the NFL TV ratings for this weekend. I expect a big drop.
ReplyDeleteIs Bob Cousy still playing?
ReplyDeleteGold. Solid gold, Nam.
DeleteWho's Bob Cousy?
DeleteProfessional sports are less about sports and more about entertainment. There's little doubt where most of "big entertainment's" political sympathies lay.
ReplyDeleteThat's why professional wrestling continues to have great attendance and TV ratings, they know their fans are Patriots, and not whiners like the in other sports.
DeleteThey have always been entertainment. Professional Athletes are no different than the Hollywood clowns. Always have been.
DeleteStanding up to the virtue-signalling bullies of the left is the right thing to do. They were all fine and happy when Obama was tearing down our country. It does no good to try to appease them - they want you to crawl, and then crawl some more. Don't play their silly games at all. President Trump again shows his mettle - he is strong and steadfast and will not bow down to them.
ReplyDeleteThey're the NBA players and if you're asking me
ReplyDeleteThey're just a bunch of spoiled rotten millionaire cry babies
I hope the bleeping NBA falls apart and then
The US will have the world's tallest garbage men!
- John Valby
They could become lawn care specialists, might stop to graze though.
DeleteNever in my life have I bought a pair of sneakers because some dooshbag like Stephie or LeBron endorsed them. Price, fit, and feel. Uh, Mr. James, you missed a spot over there by that azalea. Honest day's work for an honest day's wages, Mr. James.
DeleteTrump should announce the replacement of sports teams visits, with groups of "ordinary" professions that really contribute, such as farmer's day, bus drivers day, trash collectors day, etc. Much more deserving...
ReplyDeleteI second the motion.
DeleteI "THIRD" it !
DeleteGreat idea!
DeleteThank God someone is finally telling these over-paid, cry-baby, millionaries what they can do with their uneducated comments and opinions. Maybe now the NBA, MLB, and NFL will start doing the same thing.
ReplyDeletethe nba has lower ratings than msl soccer, and that was before all this curry nonsense. the los angeles msl team -- which isn't even very good right now -- outdrew the chargers and rams combined last week! my point is these negro dominated leagues are in the process of dying, and the imbecilic owners are only hastening the process. truly insane. might be a good book in there somewhere, fo rDon to write :)
ReplyDeleteYeah, exactly, Giancarlo, and I am mystified why the black/power structure hasn't figured this whole mess out yet. Alls I can come up with is, they're following the example of their leader, The Black Jesus, who did outrageous shit all the time and then once somebody raised a concern, he doubled down on em. If no one else will say it, I will: Fuck you, Stephen Curry. I've read about your ankle troubles. You're one stray leg away from wishing you accepted that visit. Word.
DeleteStrange timing - Trump was focused on fighting the MSM and was very focused / disciplined on it. Perhaps this is why he ignored the NFL flag stupidity, until now. Or was it to distract from his support of Strange? Trump gets the news cycle.
ReplyDeleteYou said only one thing worth reading,
Delete"Trump gets the news cycle."
I quit watching the nba years ago when the teams became dominated by thugs. It would be nice if depletion allowances for sports is eliminated when tax reform is done. Owners get a big tax write off from paying these insane salaries. Without the depletion allowance the salaries would come down and we wouldn't see so many spoiled thug multi millionaires.
ReplyDeleteNobody's gonna make these turkeys go to the White House. Why, THAT would be "Involuntary Servitude"! Can't have that, now can we? Nope.
ReplyDeleteCurry can probably see his Infinity car ad go by-by. As if he really cared.
ReplyDeleteHow about this.....Trump points out that the White middle class has a real say in all of this....refuse to participate....walk out....change the channel. Some of us saw this coming a long time ago....starve the NFL....ESPN....NBA. Why support thugs who hate you and your White middle class family?
ReplyDeleteBingo. Stopped NBA about ten years ago, college football 8, and NFL about 5 years back. Never liked baseball. Liked to play soccer when I lived in Africa, but never could stand to watch a game. Too boring.
DeleteI LOVE PRESIDENT TRUMP! He is doing exactly what he said he would do, which is make LIBERAL LIARS uncomfortable in their own skin.
ReplyDeleteIt is going to be interesting how these game spokesman back track and make nice, such as misspoke, and taken out of context, I really didn't mean it, and so on. Just a game. You know, I do like to watch volley ball, has not been defiled yet! The greatest sport!
ReplyDeleteThumbs up to female beach volleyball!
DeleteI gave up on professional football when it started taking four hours to watch a one-hour game. It's overcommercialized. Tell these self-important clowns to get a real job. - Elric
Yeah, Papa, what was not to like about Kerri Walsh? Six two (I'm six three, you know, good fit and such), passionate, cute, nice butt. And a winner. I'm pretty sure she and Misty didn't turn down the WH invite. Oh, shit, I just remembered! Misty asked Dubya to touch her ass. I woulda said, OK. Dubya politely demurred. Dammit, Dubya, you wasted that chance! Hahaha.
DeleteI haven't watched an NBA game for years. It stopped resembling basketball a long time ago, and jerks like Curry can kiss my backside.
ReplyDeleteI used to be a professional football. No more. I refuse to watch spoiled effing brats who get paid millions disrespect the country that makes it possible for them to live like kings. Ungrateful assholes!
The three point shot especially with sharp shooters like Curry will be the death of pro basketball. Curry turns the entire game into a contest of HORSE, killing every other aspect of the game. It was bad enough when MJ legitimized palming and travelling. Now we get to watch guys shoot from half-court.
ReplyDeletePalming the ball is all that is done. I couldn't dribble so I didn't play but I could have if palming the ball was permitted.
