The real news was not what was in the private conversation, but that Barack Obama's administration learned what was in a private conversation between a sitting senator and an ambassador.
That the Obama administration made this private conversation public is an outrage that the media refuses to acknowledge.
Yes, I understand that we spy on ambassadors, but we draw the line when they talk to people who are not suspected of espionage.
Or should.
Spying on citizens should be go-to-jail stuff in a land of liberty and personal freedom. Sessions should not have his conversations monitored by the opposition party, even second-hand.
Instead, the press makes the victim of unethical election espionage out to be the villain.
Congress forced Nixon to resign for attempting to do what Obama got away with doing.

Ambassador Sergey Kislyak’s accounts of two conversations with Sessions — then a top foreign policy adviser to Republican candidate Donald Trump — were intercepted by U.S. spy agencies, which monitor the communications of senior Russian officials both in the United States and in Russia. Sessions initially failed to disclose his contacts with Kislyak and then said that the meetings were not about the Trump campaign.
One U.S. official said that Sessions — who testified that he has no recollection of an April encounter — has provided “misleading” statements that are “contradicted by other evidence.” A former official said that the intelligence indicates that Sessions and Kislyak had “substantive” discussions on matters including Trump’s positions on Russia-related issues and prospects for U.S.-Russia relations in a Trump administration.Jeff Sessions could say whatever the hell he wanted to anyone.
And the Post knows it.
The story is not what he said, but that the federal government knows what he said.
This was not the government we the people ordered in 1789.
Take it back.
And the media with it.

ReplyDeleteStill, the idea that he discussed the campaign means what? That he asked for help and received it - because other than that, of which there is obviously none, there is nothing.
As usual. The leak's innuendo is supposed to do the trick. It's a dog whistle.
The spy agencies need a complete cleansing.It should be easy to find which agency listened in.
ReplyDeleteThe first amendment needs amending to force the release of names of sources and the outlet as well. Let the latter prove in court it had no effect on national security or violated no right protected by the Constitution. Let this SC decide what is right for our times.

He is, of course, referring to the to the exclusive interview that Trump gave to the Failing New York Times - where the president criticized Sessions - but then Sessions did not resign.
So Trump goes off the record and gives the NYT info on intercepts involving his DOJ sec and then they give the scoop to the Bezos Post out of sheer love. When in your lifetime have you ever seen this happen, pray tell? The fantasy life of the Nevertrumper is as bounless as her lack of insight. Go back to your bottle. The old liver still has a few cells left to kill.
DeleteAny Deputy that allows his boss to be treated like this, such as Rod "nothing-burger" Rosenstein needs to exit. Not only is this this joke the appointer of his mentor Mueller, he is supposedly directly in change of the FBI and that creep acting FBI director, all of whom have done NOTHING about national security leaks. Worse than useless. All of them. Let's see you unmask some un-maskers uh Rod. Could you or your useless FBI do that? Once maybe.
