The press keeps making stuff up.

From the New York Times:
At a Besieged White House, Tempers Flare and Confusion Swirls
How do they know this?

What Trump official would ever trust Billionaire Carlos Slim's broadsheet?

Then there is Erick Erickson, a Never Trumper, who swears he has sources inside the White House telling us President Trump is crazy:
I tend to take these stories about the President with a grain of salt. We have seen key details of a number of salacious stories retracted within 48 hours. The media hates the President so much that they’ll run a negative story about him without very much provocation. Anti-Trump sources embedded within the administration in the career civil service, etc. will leak to the press and confirmation bias sets in.
What sets this story apart for me, at least, is that I know one of the sources. And the source is solidly supportive of President Trump, or at least has been and was during Campaign 2016. But the President will not take any internal criticism, no matter how politely it is given. He does not want advice, cannot be corrected, and is too insecure to see any constructive feedback as anything other than an attack.
So some of the sources are left with no other option but to go to the media, leak the story, and hope that the intense blowback gives the President a swift kick in the butt. Perhaps then he will recognize he screwed up. The President cares vastly more about what the press says than what his advisers say. That is a real problem and one his advisers are having to recognize and use, even if it causes messy stories to get outside the White House perimeter.
Grain of salt? Ha ha ha. Erickson has bitten on every rumor about Trump for two years.

If Erickson is not on Soros's payroll (indirectly -- through third-party ads) then Erickson is a dummy.

Well, even if he is, he's still a dummy.

But they have not forgotten Saint Comey, who cost Hillary the election by not getting her indicted.

Joe Simonson of HeatStreet called the press out on its trust-me journalism:
Anonymous Nation: America’s Papers of Record Have Turned into Tabloids
According to the Washington Post‘s Glenn Kessler, an exultant cheer went up in his newsroom on Monday when web traffic for the Post’s latest anti-Trump salvo surpassed that of its last big hit, the Access Hollywood tape. “Blood lust” was how the Drudge Report described the scene. And appropriately, this new story of President Trump inappropriately disclosing secrets of intelligence gathering was, like the Access Hollywood scoop, an anonymously sourced hit. We have arrived in an era where anonymous attacks form the bedrock of Washington correspondence — even when principled government officials come forward and strenuously assert that the reporting isn’t true.
Still I doubt the public much cares. The storylines are off the trolley tracks. Trump is now a Russian spy? Wait, wasn't Trump Hitler just last week? Is Comey a hero or a villain this week? It's all so confusing the public tunes out.

The press full-court press on Trump talking to Russian diplomats is like the old woman with the cats walking down the street muttering to herself about events that happened decades ago.

But I see what is next after this latest attempt to pin the tail on The Donald. White House in disarray!

Or maybe it is Trump is crazy.

Or maybe it is Trump is senile.

Or maybe it is Trump a Nazi. Nyah, that one has never worked.

There is only one goal.

From Real Clear Politics:
CNN's Wolf Blitzer: "Are We Getting Closer" To Impeachment Of Donald Trump?
Wolf Blitzer and all the rest hate Trump, and they hate the country and the system that elected him. His statement is irresponsible and a repudiation of our electoral process. In an earlier age, CNN would fire him.

Remember, every rumor makes Page One, unless it is bumped off by an outright lie.

On November 8, 2016, the American people said, "Trump the Establishment!"

Now read the book that explains how and why the press missed this historic the election.

It is available on Kindle, and in paperback.

And then read the original, "Trump the Press," which chronicled and mocked how the media missed Trump's nomination.

It is available on Kindle, and in paperback

  1. It looks like the shrillness meter is going up in order to cover up a highly placed operative who ordered a hit on a democrat leaker.

    1. That is the BIG story that hopefully won't go away. Could flow back to many others in the Clinton world who departed much to soon.

  2. This is all well said. The real question for me is will the Republicans stay with him in the white house a bunker as the moguls like Bezos rain attacks on him through their now private press outlets. Politicans are not known for backbone. The hope is to at least weaken his health and tax bills and perhaps weaken the will of voters in 18 to keep the Senate pliable and stun the House. The entire struggle of the moguls is about money and who controls it,nothing else. If the R now in office stay with him the press will fail badly but not quit. Their sources of income are no longer weakened by failure because they come from independent wealth or other businesses that are not news dependent. This press is now a monster uncontrolled by success or failure and has only will. It has become a constitutional issue.
As for Sources, in my own experience I have found that unless you are sitting one on one what actually happens cannot be known between two people and later one of them can lie about it anyway. Memory and summation of conversation, even by whitnesses, can alter "history" with a single word said or forgotten often intentionally.

    1. Yes. At this point the press can and should be considered hostile witnesses, having abrogated their historical responsibilities in favor of being treasonous tools of the Left. Meaning, should a hot Civil War transpire, they can be considered targets of opportunity.

  3. The publishing of sensitive information provided by anonymous sources has got to stop. The MSM has destroyed any pretense of journalistic integrity and is endangering national security and the political fabric of the nation. It's time to hold their feet to the fire. We need to start demanding that they name their sources. This will cut down on fabricated news and enhance the accountability of government employees. If they refuse to identify their sources, well, vee haff vayz off making zem talk. - Elric

  4. Good post Don. Love the ending... rumor daily only bumped by lie.. heh.

My advice, Trump has weathered worse, so he knows. But.. I'd say come out and own all of this as PROOF, to the voters, that the swamp is scared and is fighting back hard. I'd call every one of them out and shame the smear-merchants.

  5. My head is spinning. Thanks for the post. I no longer watch any news on tv as even MSNBC's humorous ranting hurts my head.

At some point, the spinning of tales will be so fast and violent that the carousel will come off of its moorings and collapse in a smoldering heap and DJT will look upon the wreckage with a yuuuuuge smile.

    1. Check out One America News Network.

    2. Thank you. We just got that channel. Will give it a go.

  6. The smell of desperation from the media fills my nose with joy. The stench of their lies does not.

  7. ICYMI: Russian Russell ‏ 3hours ago

Hey @jasoninthehouse [Jason Chaffetz] frat boy @ewerickson at the failing Resurgent claims in print to have the proof on the your pen for him?

    Not holding my breath.

  8. The past two weeks have been all about nothing. The left and MSM are all crazy about a guy named Commey who they all hated since past June, now he is their sainted hero. I think a nation that elected Waters, Pelosi, Cummings, Warren, Murray, Sanders etc. it is only a short time before this nation self distructs into civil war.

  9. Eric Ericson is a thumb with a face on it, and as reliably anti-Trump as they come.

He tried an unconvincing "mea culpa" right after the election in an attempt to re-attract Trump supporters, but we should all remember his Trump derangement syndrome right up until election eve, and treat him accordingly.

Our friend and a patriot, Eric Ericson is not.
